Whitlock .30-30 Redesign

It's showing it's age and it's one of the least used guns in the entire game. Not exactly the right legacy for the" Rifle that won the West"

So I suggest a total redesign to better fit that title. Functionally, the exact same animations will work just fine, only with one added step. Though discontinued by it's manufacturer the Model 464 is still a wonderful rifle and close to te original model.

This would feature improved iron sights, a 5 round capacity, an appropriate re-class and improved ammunition.

A distance of 200ms is perfectly possible with MODERN AMMO and more effective projectiles mean it's more capable than ever. I'd suggest classes 3-7, it's more fitting for the rifle and makes it much more usable for many different maps and loadouts.

Newer ammunition greatly improves the range and knockdown power of this old but incredibly effective hunting cartridge

If there is one thing Hunting Simulator 2 sort of right: It was making the 30-30 suitable for a lot of big game, in general making the 30-30 capable of covering at least Class 7 species would be a good idea

Class 2 is just way too small for this rifle. It would destroy them unless you used particularly weak loads

I wouldn’t say a redesign of the weapon but it’s in dire need of an ammo buff and scope rework. It would be nice to have a scope mount type of mechanic where you could put virtually any scope on any weapon. If they wanted a modern style .30-30 I’d say put it in a dlc and leave the current design how it is.

No, Redesign is better because it's basegame weapon so it shouldn't be locked behind a paywall. They already changed the .45-70 ammo and forgot to change the zero distance for the rifle. Andnim not entirely sure the ammo buff even applied

Yeah I have no idea about the 45-70 I know it was supposed to be buffed but I never use it really.

I am in favor of buffing the ammo and ballistics for the .30-30 in the base game since it is in dire need of it, but the physical weapon model I think can remain the same.

20 inch barrel with a full tube magazine should hold 5 -6 rounds. The iron sights have too big of a bead, the rear sight is too shallow too. It doesn't need the side mounted scope and the lever is too narrow. It's by far the worst model for anyone who hunts with one

and 30-30 irl is a fast small mass bullet, but in the game its slow, it only zeros at 165 max

Fast by modern cartridge standards, no. Relatively fast, yes. It should be able to zero out at 200 and be effective at that distance and probably a bit further.

I would like to see a buff capacity to this and the .45-70 lever action. I think a 6 shot capacity for the .30-30 would be better and a bit more realistic than the current 4. Same with the .45-70 getting to 5 instead of 3.

6 rounds is standard on a .30-30 with a tube magazine, the model they based the .45-70 on actually holds 6 rounds as well. They both need a big update, they're just sad right now

In Europe, for some reason, they believe it's only strong enough for roe deer and more specifically the devs modeled the ammunition for the .30-30 and .45-70 ammo on extremely weak target loads designed for shooting steel targets at short ranges.

.45-70 is used for whitetail deer because some states have a very stupid law that says hunters can only use "straight wall cartridges"

.45-70 is pretty cheap, widely available, and has more reach than .357 or .44mag. The loads people use for deer are anemic and slow because they don't kick as hard. That's what EW based the ammo on.

Not the fact they literally modeled the in game gun on Martin's Guide Gun. Which was designed for Alaskan hunting guides to stop charging bears

I may have said this a long time ago in here but I’ll say it again. .30-30 definitely needs a buff, but a new .30-30 rifle should probably complement instead of replace the current Winchester 94 based rifle. I’m all for a Marlin 336, either classic or the more modern xlr, or Henry big boy but I still like the model we have in game. The Marlin/Henry could be like 44 where any rifle scope could be added and I wish the current 45-70 was that way since it’s a side ejecting one based on a Marlin 1895. “The old and the new” could actually be the name for a new lever action pack come to think of it. A Winchester 1886 .45-70 and Marlin 336 xlr .30-30 could make for a pretty cool pack, needs to be completely reworked ammo for both cartridges though.

This is actually a mossberg 494. I wish they still made them but I'll take what I can get. It has the top eject angled so you can mount a scope in the regular position as well as a forward rail for red dots and such

It does suck that mossberg quit making those even though they were nothing more than a knock off winchester 94 angle eject (yes winchester had and has models now that eject to the side allowing inline scope mounting) but they were affordable. Now theres not really any budget friendly 30-30 rifles.

I got an R95 from Rossi a while ago for 600 but I haven't done anything particularly interesting with it. Right now it's just kinda in placeholder mode

Gotcha, I remember one manufacturer made winchester 92 copies with some silly flipper thing on the top of the bolt and the silly think seemed like it was gonna fall off.

It has a 4-8 scope that looks stupid because of the side mount.

This one would be more like the Mosin or M1 with the scope mount and use all the regular rifle scopes
