Three lever guns to cover all out bases in new ways

First, (black and stainless) is a .45 Colt lever action. Updating the 2-5 class handgun cartridge to a mid range deer gun that can step up and put down wolves when it's needed.

Second, (tube magazine) is new to the market and making waves. The .360 Buckhammer is quickly becoming a go to choice for everything from small southern deer (roe deer sized whitetails) up to the biggest black bears. 3-7 PLEASE

Last is a powerhouse. A (box magazine) .338 lever gun. A long range heavy hitter taking full advantage polymer tipped ballistics to bring down bears and moose.

We need to stop thinking alike 🤣 I also have a lever pack as well. But I'll admit these are really good picks.

slim oxide
#

BTW

.360 buckhammer is an improved straight wall cartridge adding 200yds of reach to lever actions while still offering improved performance over the .44 magnum and .30-30 cartridges

ooo I've been hearing a lot about .360 Buckhammer lately

slim oxide
#

I think I'm gonna get one and get my .30-30 lightened up quite a bit to get working my trap line again. I got a pack of wolves and around 40 yotes to deal with. Deer in the thick timber and occasional black bears and elk would be great too. The .360 is for the open timber and meadows out here

brave briar
#

That would be ideal for sure

slim oxide
#

220 grain bullets are possible for the .360 too. Heavy Hammerdown loads last I saw

slim oxide

I'd also take a .357 lever gun

YES! The .360 Buckhammer is on my list IRL, and I've been asking for detachable box magazine lever guns forever! On a semi related note, I also want to see box magazine pump rifles like the Remington 760/7600.

I want a .360 so bad! Another thing that could be cool is like the classic levers in .38-40 and stuff. Also, Henry’s new long range levers are really cool

Good news folks! Rossi's new model R95 comes in .444, .30-30, and .45-70. It's a flat top receiver that can use modern optics

Personally, I think a lever 410, 360 Hammer, & 500S&W would be a great lever assortment to cover 1-9 class game. As much as I want a new 338 over the 2 we currently have I'd rather get a traditional bolt rifle for the 338.

They should add 500 S&W. Though I see your point. In truth EW should consider different actions/platforms with existing & New calibers moving fwd. We could see this with the Community Challenges next year is my hope. With that said they should reconsider how they release weapon packs. I'm happy to see themes however they should consider adding 3 weapons that cover Class:1-9 in every pk at the very least 2-9. I'm growing tired of mid to DG dedicated pks.

slim oxide
#

Now, to be clear, I suggested. 338 for the BLR because I despise the tsurugi and want a mag fed 338.
It could easily be a .270, .30-06, .280, .300, or .358. But with a little creative license it could also be a 9.3x62mm running 4-9 with no issues

full lark
glad folio
#

A .454 lever action in game would be absolutely hilarious. If I recall correctly the better ammo has in game stat of 100 penetration, it'd obliterate everything it touches

full lark
#

it would make the hyper-uber arrow penetration lool like a joke lol

glad folio
#

It'd make the Moradi seem weak, which would be insane given the capabilities of the Moradi (second favorite gun btw)

#

If it could be balanced to be more realistic to an actual .454 lever though, it'd be a great addition to the game imo

slim oxide
#

Part of why I suggested a .45. Gives a weaker cartridge a chance at a buff and doesn't outclass much else. Sad they'd all be better than the .45-70 and. 30-30

glad folio
#

45-70 and 30-30 definitely need buffed. I've heard more people upset about the in game performance of the 30-30 than any other cartridge

slim oxide
#

I'm probably the loudest, I apologize if it gets annoying, but I know it too well to let it be crappy.

BTW, Way of the Hunter just improved all their rifles across the board. All of them.

I don't really pay attention to WoTH 😭

I'd play WotH more if it had more than one lever action. I sorta hate to say this but honestly Hunting Simulator 2 did .30-30 right. You can hunt almost anything with it and it'll bring down everything quick. There's no range cap, and you can mount regular scopes

hallow gorge
#

Yep as weird as it is to say. We (and many other CA hunters) use one hahaha

I just don't care for WoTH's age mechanic system, not my thing. I'm also on Ps4 and can't play it anyways lol

I know I'll catch som flak for saying it, but we have more than enough bolt action rifles, just because it's the most common doesn't mean it's the only one. We need more lever actions, yeah but we just need more action types in general. Options are kinda limited right now

I would like some Straight-Pull weapons as well. They’re different than Bolt Actions because rather than the “Bolt-Pull action” it’s simply a straight back kind of pull.

Many do have bolts on the side to allow for easier control, such as the Blaser R93, but they’re still different. One I really want to see is the K31 (Chambered in 7.5x55mm Swiss), pictured below. It’s comparable to .308 in power, although it is used on big game like European Bison and Moose in Europe.

A Lever action .410 would be great. It could add slugs and tss shot to along with improving the birdshot we already have. The slugs should be 2-4 tho, I wouldn't take anything bigger than a whitetail with it

With .410 I'd go 1-3 from rabbit, fox, & lynx i wouldnt try deer unless its rather close with a low power slug obviously that'll vary on loads. But overall if we agree to disagree, we can both agree .410 needs buck & slugs regardless. Its nice having the .45colt/.410 but we really need a .410 shotgun. Preferably a lever but hell I wouldnt even be mad if it was a bolt .410 like the Model 58B Ranger.

speaking of .357mag/.38spec lever would also be ideal.

#

Been off Discord for a while and am still trying to catch up with the threads, but how do we think a .360 Buckhammer would compare to the Moradi .44? I'm thinking a 3-7 or 2-7 rating would be good.

Still campaigning for a Browning BLR style lever action, too! Make it Pronghorn ethical, but more powerful than the .243. Maybe .257 Roberts?

My first year out here I had someone tell me the .30-30 was underpowered and wouldn't kill black bears. We hunted together and he changed his mind when I shot one at 160 some odd yards and it just rolled down the hill without so much as a sound (except my cursing because it was rolling toward that worst spot to recover it in the whole DA*N valley)

Double lung, which honestly is really common out to like 200 yards

violet pond
#

Yeah, the .30-30 is underpowered in this game. Just bumping its max class from 6 to 7 would make it much more viable.

brave briar
#

30-30 is easily a 3-7

slim oxide
#

They need to fix the ammo as well, I think they used underpowered ammo as a baseline for the cartridge, WotH did as well but they've at least added two new ammo types to make it more realistic

Honestly, I grew up in an area where anyone who hunted had a .30-30 for deer, they never used it for coyotes or raccoons unless they were raiding the chicken coop

brave briar
slim oxide
brave briar
#

I need to play WotH at somepoint its actually better than I was expecting from reviews. When I watched trailers & gameplay it looked alot like hunting sim that flopped.

slim oxide
#

It's decent but it gets kinda repetitive quickly.

brave briar
#

But I mostly want to compare WotH & CotW to see what new gen has. Though Ultimate Hunting if they deliver will likely be the next go to based on the blogs revealing its development so I'm hoping EW will seriously consider applying feat. like ammo & weapon accessories to name a few to keep its players. If EW doesn't take it more seriously it'll likely die out in 2-3yrs. But I'm looking at it from both a consumer & business view point.

#

in truth I'm expecting CotW has 2 more years strong b4 they need to consider a new title not just bc of content but platform advancement as well.

#

Even Jaxy mentioned it will eventually get to that point where decision needs to be made

mystic reef
#

COTW 2 would be fire

slim oxide
#

Cotw 2 will be competing with some extremely good games, and a lot of advancement aside in the tech side of things.

That said, there's a ton they could do to upgrade what we already have, ditching the class system and making all the weapons more realistic would go a long way to making it much more fun. Bows don't just drop animals, 12ga buckshot won't stop in a raccoons hide, and .300 win mag is not a cape buffalo round

brave briar
# mystic reef COTW 2 would be fire

I agree knowing what they do now & our feedback as well as modern platform features being added in new titles I think EW would benefit taking the franchise up a knotch.

I think it would be a mistake to shift it to Cotw2.

People have been calling for it for years at this point and they'd be absolutely crazy to withhold it until a new title because it would upset the fans so much more. Aside from that, Africa 2.0 would be a massive cash influx that would benefit the game as well as pay the staff, they could use the money to further development and I severely doubt anyone would be upset if Africa 2.0 was reused as a base game map in cotw 2. In fact it might be a selling point if they added new animals or equipment

True I was just thinking about it bc as of now the title wont do it justice on the authentic features & ai unless EW switches gears which is why they havn't yet. It would be a huge upset if they release it and its not up to par. But they are running out of time to do so unless they are waiting to see what UH does. I believe UH will release this yr or next yr. If I were EW I'd take notes where competitors are succeeding and our feedback and apply it if the engine will allow it.
