#Get rid of HM

I want to be able to get a trophy that is actually rare to the community(like GOs, rares, diamonds, etc). I also want to be able to get a GO without having to spend a month hunting the same animal over and over again.

Herd Management isn't a dedicated mechanic, it's just selectively killing things so that the game spawns things accordingly
Great Ones also aren't affected by Herd Management, EW team members like Jaxy have said that Great Ones are purely RNG

#

Basically if a herd has a low overall score, there's a better chance of a higher scoring animal being a respawn, that's basically the game working as intended
HM basically just focuses on that mechanic and makes the most of it

#

I totally understand the frustration though, it can be demotivating going after a GO and just not seeing them for a long time. But they're also intentionally incredibly rare

#

at least in the case of diamonds, I would recommend just finding herds of your target species and shoot the highest scoring ones in the group

for GOs, just keep killing things (and make sure to pick up every harvest)

crisp mulch
#

they can do things to get rid of it like making the respawn completely random

grizzled burrow
#

Again I do wanna point out that HM actually helps you get diamonds, which are still highly sought after to this day

crisp mulch
#

by who

grizzled burrow
#

Aside from hardcore grinders who get them a dime a dozen, diamonds are things that a lot of people really want

crisp mulch
#

arnt diamond supposed to be rare? them being grinded makes them not rare but hardcore grinders that do hm are not going to care about a diamond moose or bear

vestal hill
#

HM is a choice that the hunters make, if you don’t want to do HM then don’t do it

crisp mulch
#

and stats can prove GOs are effected by HM. EW has even said that HM is not the intended way to play

grizzled burrow
#

EW staff like Jaxy have said that GOs aren't affected by HM at all, they're purely RNG. People just HM during grinds to boost their odds at getting diamonds while they do it

crisp mulch
#

people that do HM do not care about diamonds they grind for GOs and again stats say otherwise

vestal hill
#

If people choose to do that then let them do it

grizzled burrow
#

If GOs were affected by HM, we probably wouldn't see as much of a disparity in how many kills people go through to get them (I've seen as low as 35 and as high as 8k+)

crisp mulch
#

was the 8k using HM? and beaver do you do HM?

grizzled burrow
vestal hill
#

Yes, because it lets me get bigger rares and more diamonds

crisp mulch
#

do you care about your diamonds and how many do you have

vestal hill
#

245 diamonds the noticeable ones I keep

crisp mulch
grizzled burrow
#

I don't HM aside from just shooting whatever is the biggest in a group

grizzled burrow
crisp mulch
vestal hill
#

I get a diamond every 20 kills

crisp mulch
#

so ur diamonds arent rare. Do you get GOs?

vestal hill
#

No, I am 4k kills in and still no sign of G1 spawning

grizzled burrow
#

Yeah, GOs don't seem to have a consistent appearance rate, since like I said earlier there's a huge range of kills people make before ever seeing one

crisp mulch
#

but still you look at creators and there getting one everyday

grizzled burrow
#

Creators don't really make up the majority, the average player isn't cranking out diamonds and GOs

vestal hill
#

Take Crow for example, he is trying to get a SR red deer, but accidentally get G1s

lone moth
#

How do creators play into this?

It’s literally their job

grizzled burrow
crisp mulch
#

so there job is to teleport around a map?

lone moth
vestal hill
#

Their job is to play for people like us to watch and to be entertained

grizzled burrow
crisp mulch
#

How is that entertaining

grizzled burrow

Also here's what I'm getting from this

  • you want diamonds and GOs
  • you're upset that others are getting them and not you
  • instead of looking into people's efficiency, you're calling for removing a system that actually helps with diamonds
lone moth
crisp mulch
#

have you ever tried hunting and not grinding and u said people like us which would include you.

grizzled burrow

crisp mulch

diamonds are rare for me. If i showed someone who grinded whitetail a diamond whitetail do you think they would care

grizzled burrow
#

Yeah, I can't say I've seen someone who didn't at least say "oh nice!" in response to someone getting a diamond

vestal hill
#

Yes it’s a diamond, crow taxes most of his diamond

lone moth
crisp mulch
grizzled burrow
#

Wdym "nobody cares about them anymore" people absolutely still go after them and post them

crisp mulch
#

i never see tiger trophy picks anymore

vestal hill
#

I still hunt them, just for the odd chance I spawn a diamond or a rare

crisp mulch
#

Spawn? why dont you just go on multi and find one its way more rare and fun that way

grizzled burrow
#

People absolutely still actively hunt tigers. Afaik their lower population count just means diamonds are less common
at this point I feel like this conversation is less feedback and more "i'm upset that people have something I don't, but I'm not going to look into the situation at all and go entirely off of a minority player group"

crisp mulch

grizzled burrow
vestal hill
#

No, I choose to hunt on multi on LEGIT servers to get money, then I hunt on map for a certain species then if I find something good then I will tax it

lone moth
vestal hill
#

No, but I am working on it

crisp mulch
lone moth
crisp mulch
#

were diamonds rare before Hm and are they still rare now

lone moth
#

Only you can place a value on your trophies.
My tigers mean a lot

vestal hill
#

Even the snow leopards are good trophies if it is a 1

crisp mulch
#

you know what ur actually kinda right

grizzled burrow
crisp mulch
#

i do too spooqi i guess what im trying to say is make a way to get GOs without grinding

grizzled burrow
#

At the end of the day, their rarity will make obtaining them a grind, whether it's a managed grind or just walking around and shooting stuff

#

It can definitely be frustrating going so long without seeing one, but I feel like that's part of what makes them so awesome to obtain. It's super rare, so it makes them feel more impressive than if they were easier to get

lone moth
crisp mulch
#

well GOs cant be initial spawn and EW has yet to fix that (they used to be able to be initial spawn)

crisp mulch
#

when was the last time one intialy spawned. Not since red deer

lone moth
sudden viper
#

They shouldn't take away heard management. A good fix for people saying diamonds aren't rare would be to add more diamond racks and a rare possibility of getting a non-typical diamond .

I have to disagree with this. EW has said that HM is essentially just Min-Maxing but for COTW. It’s a perfectly acceptable way to grind, and you don’t have to do it if you don’t want to.

You don’t have to grind using HM if you don’t want to. I personally don’t use HM, but I can see the appeal of using it in order to get trophies you want.

grizzled burrow
#

I agree on that. I don't personally like doing fully managed hunts, I just target whatever is the biggest in a group. It's completely optional whether one does it or not
