#Naming distinction for the .300BLK
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
For those who dont know: it has a .223 parent case loaded with a 30cal bullet that ranges as low as 110gr up to 220gr. Short - Mid range caliber often used for Varmints like coyotes up to hogs and deer. Not to be mistaken for the 300magnum that is much larger & packs more energy for large game like moose & bear.
As for the name: Fors (short for forest) Elite?
scratch that Fors is another way to say Rapid.
based on my findings (Fors) is a swedish word for Rapid when used in a specific context.
Vilka forsar och förrädiska faror vi kommer att stöta på, känner vi inte till.
What rapids or dangers or treacherous disaster awaits us, we know not.
sorry it got me thinking but I do feel conflicted being 3-6 1 off from 2-6 or 3-7. Personally 2-6 bc wolves are a C:6 n fox & coyote are C:2
it also feels off being a 3-6 on a new reserve release that is likely C:1-2 Game...& we cant use our new WpnPk in it?!? Seems like really bad taste esp. after announcing a G1 Red Fox.
☝(My Opinion)
Unless there's a class 3 or 4 animal on there they haven't mentioned
.300 Fors is a good enough distinction for me, at least shows it's not a magnum
I think it will have 1 or 2 C:3's in SP for the 3-6 to work in it but I was really looking fwd to having a 2-6 30cal to use on yotes. Even more so now they announced G1 Fox. I dont typically care for G1's but my wife n I do love hunting foxes, yotes, & bobcats in game & I 🤞 the new "WPN PK" was going to be accurate with all 3. Just odd having 2 weapons one off from being •3-6: (2-6/3-7) & •4-7: (3-7/4-8) just to be different isn't what I had in mind esp. Using them irl personally.
I expected the 300blk to be 2-6 (2-5 if Wolves were a C:5 not C:6) with 243 & 450BM to be 3-7 with the 7.62x54R over another 4-8. In addition the 375H&H is 7-9 robbing the C:6 game that is also appropriate for it (minus Wolves), just feels wrong to just match it with the 300 & 338 7-9 Class. And lets be honest the 375H&H is the show stopper of this pk & should be 6-9.
My sincerest hope for that lone 3 is that it'll be Sika deer since they do so well in the marshes and there's a real world population in that area but I expect disappointment
Roe deer would be okay too
I was thinking Roe as well with it set in Germany
I do not understand why they chose a 3-6 rifle and a 10ga to release with a small game map with several class 2 animals.
A 28ga or even another 20ga would have made more sense and the rifle should have been a 2-5 or 2-6 to take advantage of the map
🤣 that was my point every reserve that has had a weapon unlock has had the game on the map in mind & a 410ga up to 20g came to mind not a 10ga. And 300blk is a varmint to Medium game Short-Mid range caliber.
Unless were getting a new pk for small game next year but even so its alittle harsh & hurts to see a sm game reserve and our voted pack stands out in bad way the same day.
I dont like ranting but this one kinda hurt & struck a nerve. I really do hope the changes get heard and they accept my proposal on expanding the ammo.
Hello ayoliam,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the naming distinction for the .300BLK. It's definitely a good idea to help players easily differentiate between the .300BLK and other similar cartridges in the game. Clarity in naming can certainly assist those who may not be familiar with real-world ammo, and it's always valuable to ensure that different firearms and cartridges have their own unique identity in-game.
I'll pass this feedback along to the rest of the team! If you have more ideas to share, feel free to reach out via our support portal: https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.
