Make rifled barrel slug guns 12-20 gauge

I think the slugs in COTW are very overlooked and underused, something like a rifled barrel shotgun specifically for slugs would be awesome. i also think it should be classed 4-8

Omg yes please! I'd LOVE a break action single shot slug gun but there are bolt action models with 3 round magazines

Also, please. Sabot slugs for the 12ga. You could have hollow point and polymer tipped ones specifically for the rifled guns

@wispy fox yes I agree, I use buckshot alot an wish it could get a little penetration buff. hunting with slugs is fun an something I do a lot in game. Hopefully if they add this shotguns will get the love they need. Happy hunting

I'd like to see those slugs in the game. I feel, that they need shorter range compared to standard rifle ammunition but should need harder due to the amount of mass they come with,

Also like to see some types of sabot ammunition.

220 yards is pretty long range for a sabot slug,

Yes, but EW should make them hit hard from short range. Right now all the slugs are pretty underpowered in way, that you don't have any benefit from getting close compared to a standard rifle cartridge.. Right now the slugs miss any shock effect, given the fact, they come with a really big chunk of lead...

Oh I know, I tried hunting brown bears with the 12ga and wasn't impressed, it's just kinda a weaker pistol cartridge right now

Exactly. They should come with massive bleeding (high expansion value in cotw-ingame-logic?), high penetration but short effective range. But in that range they should easily outclass any pistol/revolver round. To my feel all the pistol/revolver rounds are overpowered compared to the rest of the cartridges.

Yeah. Irl most hunters carry a pistol only for the final shot on wounded aggressive game. But i know some hunters who use slugs on e.g. boar and tell how hard they hit on short distance. None of them would prefer a 9mm or 10mm pistol to a slug. But in this game the revolver rounds are the way to go if it comes to close range firearms. That feels wrong.

There's a massive amount of problems with how the weapons work in this game, slugs need help almost as bad as arrows need a nerf

Agreed. Arrows are outstanding.
I see why they wwre implemented this way - to give a high reward of getting really close. But... the reward is already there by not producing significant hunting pressure.

@cedar falcon has the team thought about adding this? It would be helpful for hunter challenges requiring a shotgun harvest at night if it would be able to use the angler night vision scope. We currently have nothing to help harvest with a shotgun at night except the flashlight. A slug gun that only takes sabots (not compatible with Buckshot or bird shot) using the rifle scopes would be awesome to see in the game. Happy hunting everyone!

Not fond of more shotguns being added like they have been, but a Rifled Slug Shotgun pack would be ideal. If given the choice 410ga, 20ga, 12ga. Since EW likes to name their pack I think "Slugger Legacy" or something equivalent would be fitting.

@gleaming halo yes!!! 💯 Those gauges(.410,20,12) to cover most animal classes, a slugger pack of some kind would be a great name. I think this would make shotgun hunting a lot more fun for most players in the game. Happy hunting bud!

Thanks. I'll be honest I was happy but also slightly disappointed in the 410 we got but I'm not going to bash it too hard bc I'm not against those who have an assorted palette for various designs even if I think its a goblin of a model. But for some time after SRP with Turkeys I've wanted Rifled Slug Shotguns. And I also grew up with them as well. I'll add that as much as I enjoy weapon packs to a degree I think it would be a great change of pace having a 3 pk of rifled slug shotguns with those 3 gauges. H**l I'd even settle with a 410ga, 16ga, & 12ga. 10ga imho we have covered for a while.

@gleaming halo yea, a .410 pump would have been a little better, I let ew know that the .410 slugs will not shoot past 120 yards then it disappears like bird shot I tagged them in a video, they replied and said they would change it to the same range as the other shotgun slugs. I think It needs a little power buff too but yea here in West Virginia a lot of deer I've taken were within 80 yards. I've used 12 gauge 870 with a slug barrel and a Brazil single shot with slugs lol I too think it would give a good change to shotgun hunting if rifled shotguns ever get added.

I cant disagree. If were talking actions single breaks are always a traditional choice, however. A great change would be bolt & lever shotguns.

@gleaming halo yeah I agree I think if they added a slug gun pack, bolt actions would be nice. Imo I do wish that .410 would have been a lever tho. Another thing I hope for sometime is another "community choice weapon pack",,,,, with poles that have more variety.

This is a Greener shotgun, typically available in 12ga and 10ga. It would be an ideal rifled slug shotgun and they can be fitted with scope mounts.

It would be both a unique weapon and easy to implement due to the Gandhare
