Now that we've gotten snow leopards and tigers, i don't think there's a problem with adding jaguars. In which future reserve they're added its pretty much up to the devs, can be either on mexico, southern US, central america or from Colombia to northern Argentina.
Their max weight should be at around 158kgs as its the most commonly cited max weight in scientific literature, largest modern weighed specimen was called Lopez and was 148kgs, in older hunting records from famous hunters like Tony de Almeida he cited another 148kg specimen from Venezuela although his largest cat (That he weighed) was 119kgs on an empty belly. That being said the largest specimen there's records of that we have today is called Joker, although partially weighed (Kept slipping off the scale and was too heavy), he surpassed the limit of the scale which was 140kgs. Later on its weight was estimated by a bunch of talented people to be 155kgs using different methods.
They shouldn't have the "stalking mechanic" as they don't see humans as prey and will rather flee, ALTHOUGH if cornered as per almeida and other hunters that have wrote about their encounters with them, they'll be extremely violent and will go after the hunter. So maybe similar to what we have with the Lion currently ingame

Joker (current largest as per measurments and estimations on its weight)
Lopez (Largest in terms of actual recorded weights)
148kg jaguar cited by almeida (also weighed)
Tony's 119kg male jaguar (empty bellied)
I wouldn’t mind jaguars but there are only 8 in the USA so it could be on USA map and there aren’t many in northern Mexico which I think is where rancho is. They would need to be on a map further south. Also I don’t believe they live where parque is I’m not to sure tho
Really like the idea of another big cat, and it's rare to see a big cat idea without the tiger stalking stuff
Really like it though 👍
Very true for everything that you said, Parque de Fernando is actually much more in the south of argentina, and there's very few jaguars in southern US that is true. So maybe in guatemala
#Amazonincotw
Rancho would be perfect, there’s enough there.
I can see this being good on a Central American map or Brazil but idk what an Amazon map would be like it might be to dense idk
What part of Mexico is rancho
Sonora, but we’d need an Amazon map first.
Cough cough Zareh
And a side point Central American map doesn’t have much to hunt at all.
i dont know if its legal to hunt them there though, i do know that its legal in some places to shot problem cats, like in guatemala
Sonora has very few jaguars, thats actually where i am from. And also doesn't have much to hunt..you'd expect a near identical roster from what we have in rancho if not the same since rancho is probably in sonora (Mb lol i misread it, thought you meant sonora as a new location)
I’d like to see jaguars on a map with either bairds or the Brazilian tapir and maybe some brocket or marsh deer
Aggression for them would be kinda similar to animals like moose, get super close and if they realize you're there they'll attack out of defense
by the way i hope if they add them, they get them their own model and skin. Red dead redemption online did a horrible job at modelling the jaguar, if people realized how anatomically different jaguars are from pumas, we wouldn't have such things.
A lot less like...lanky. More obvious muscle mass
let alone that, the most obvious difference is in the skull. The shape and size, its night and day, both of the cats i posted are BIG males too
Jags have massive, really bulky heads. If I recall correctly they have the strongest bite force relative to size of any feline too
correct.
2nd strongest of all land animals.
By the way if the difference wasn't obvious enough just looking at pictures of them, here are their skulls. (jaguar left, puma right)
I imagine if we get jaguars in game they'll be modeled similarly to tigers rather than pumas, it'd look good but even the tigers need more mass on their bodies
uhh relative to size? probably yeah behind ursids
They would probably ALSO need a different modelling since tigers and jaguars are also vastly different specially in the shape of their heads. So its best just to make an entirely unique model
Fair enough, yeah. I just hope they wouldn't give jags some crazy unrealistic aggression mechanics. The aggression with tigers works and fits them fairly well because tigers are fairly aggressive irl
Right behind hippos.
In regards to tigers and their proportions, i'd say they're spot on. They aren't nearly as bulky as they look like sideways. They just need more size variables, since just as i said in the other thread, the game is not accurately portraying the weight values that they give us, as all animals seem to have one default model size
And the lions in game are notably larger than the tigers, which aggravates me so much
Didnt notice that, maybe its the mane. Either way both should be similar in size, game does have tigers get quite a bit heavier at maximums
https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1253193736976859156 they are definitely larger than tigers
If they were added melanistic fur types should not be rare depending on where the map is set. If it’s further north they should be rare if it’s further south they should be more common
