Howsit bru’s!

Reuplaoding this as original vanished.

Fancy big five shooting on the South African veld? Or perhaps navigating the dessert of Namibia?

Vote for Africa on the latest poll if you want to see the potential introduction of..

Elephants 🐘
Rhino 🦏
Giraffe 🦒
Eland
Hippopotamus 🦛
Greater Kudu
Black Wilderbeast
Impala
Baboons 🙈
Honey badgers
Ostrich
Leopards 🐆
Stalks
Guinea fowl
Zebra 🦓
Nyala

And many many more mammals and bird species.🐘

The only thing wrong here is the Nyala and the Black Wildebeest, as these animals are only found in South Africa and unless they are added to the Vurhonga Savanna, they could not be added to a new map of Africa.

So we could is indeed see black wildebeest on Africa 2.0

In short no one knows where Vurhonga is, not even the devs😂

But it still makes no sense that vurhonga is found in Botswana when neither the lesser kudu nor the side-striped jackal, let alone the Scrub hare are hunted in Botswana in real life.

#

However, in South Africa all species are hunted in their entirety.

Honestly I can see leopard as a great one. The model would just need blackbear treatment

I'm just hoping for Africa 2.0 in some form or other kinda soon. And after that? 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 because Africa has enough plains game and terrain to make them all unique

Only thing I'd say is nix the black wildebeest as they're more a Kalahari thing than one in the region you work in

Eh, I'd rather have the maps adhere to what's right in terms of where animals go

EW doesn't seem to have that kind of restriction. And we don't know if they'll even choose the map area we did

# torpid thorn Vurhonga is “Botswanan”, not South African

Word Origin stems from Tsonga People, meaning Dawn or East via the South Africans, so South East Africa adjacent to Mozambique. There's many Game Reserves bordering the Kruger National Park which has about all the Species of Vurhonga. Conflicting is that it was South West Africa in the Beginning which cramped it Into the Main large cities like Cape Town, Pretoria, Johannesburg. I think they moved it on the World map slightly from left, Center and then to the right. So it was Botswana in the Center Period but the Story Line fits the East of South Africa. I'd be fine with SEA bordering both Botswana and Mozambique.

This feels more like an attempt to force the studio than a request. They clarified last year that Africa is not on the roadmap and that current lodges are not designed to accommodate animals like elephants or giraffes. Many changes are still needed, and none have been introduced to date, not even a new lodge.
Instead of forcing them, we should be asking them to reveal the Roadmap so we have an exact date to look forward to.

We could still easily get an African Plains Game Reserve before Africa 2.0 even comes out, of course I am in the mindset that Africa 2.0 will have all members of the Dangerous 7 (Elephant, Rhino, Hippo, Buffalo, Lion, Crocodile and Leopard) plus animals like Giraffe

A Plains Game Reserve could give us a wide variety of new species without needing to change the trophy lodges

And depending on where a Plains Game Reserve is set will determine what species we get

The problem of the lodges was exposed by the lead designer Arshak, it is not false

The Hunting Lodge | Launch Q&A with Max and Arshak! 12/03/2024

...We could do pretty much anything so yes we do if we consider it, it’s something that gets looked at quite often but when you have animals like Giraffes or Elephants you also have to consider that they’re pretty big animals so if you put them in your Trophy Hall their heads would basically go through the ceiling so we can’t just put them in and you know what happens with bugs so it’s a big decision that has downstream ramifications ((Lots of consequences)) that we have to consider so the short answer is NO, it’s not on the roadmap but it is on our radar but since it’s a bigger request it needs to have a lot of consideration and love before being placed in the game it’s a difficult one.

I don’t think he’s actually seen the lodges.

Sasika is massive the roof space is more than tall enough for giraffe and elephants?!?!? Animals could also appear as head and neck only mounts to navigate this.

It’s not a worthy reason to exclude any of the species from the game. When these workarounds are the logical step and more than adequate

In short the lodge debate is a non issue and can be solved with either of those incredibly straight forward work around, or by having the species only playable on the stands that have enough headroom.

#

Another simple solution have the necks stick out rather than up

Just because seseka possibly can doesn't mean spring creek manor can you gotta accommodate to all players instead of just giving up on one as hyped as giraffes and elephants are they'd bring as many problems and as much good to the game

Skull Mounts would also be a way to get animals like Giraffes into Spring Creek, plus it would allow people to use the smaller plaques for bigger game

No I don't think one would have to accommodate players that only have spring creak. As is, if you have no DLC's you only have 2 maps and 1 lodge, in which you only have 1 mount to put whatever you want on, and if you want an improved trophy lodge, you pay for it just like you pay for any new weapons or maps. Besides Saseka is literally designed to take more and fit bigger trophies in general, Saseka and Spring Creek aren't designed to be equal in any way.
If the devs decide they can't/don't want to make it possible to mount, for example, elephant or giraffe in saseka then they're probably gonna have to make a whole new lodge to fit them and then you'd have to buy that lodge to mount those animals at all because they're not gonna accommodate or be able to accommodate for anyone that doesn't buy that lodge

But why have a lodge be the exact same price and not have accommodations for players with only 1 of them? Having to make an entire new lodge to even accommodate giraffes and elephants in the first was the problem I has to begin with I'm all for a new lodge but completely putting the other lodges on the sidelines doesn't feel right

Moose made a good point by saying skull mounts that could help with trophies we don't usually have space for

To be honest, no matter where they put it or where they say it is, I think South Africans will always be unhappy and protest it because it's simple so inaccurate

When I first heard COTW was getting an African map I had high hopes, I did accept at the time that elephants were not too likely to happen but I was expecting a lot of well known species like Impala, Greater Kudu, Hartebeest and of course a few other species like Hyena, Baboon and Duiker, I suppose having wildebeest, warthog, buffalo and lion are a positive, and the springbok are fun to hunt with the airgun

You know I kinda wonder though, with EW's positioning of Vurhonga on the map, really genuinely wonder of there's "more meaning" behind it than what meet the eye

Like, maybe they moved Vurhonga to where they did to open up the Southern African region to new potential maps I future, say, at least 1 in each of the southern African countries.

I'm probably waaaaay over thinking it but we'll see what the future holds for us
