Zebra Idea? It’s not entirely scientifically accurate but I think it could make the concept of adding “zebras” more easy to chew for the devs and more interesting for the players.

“Zebras” are comprised of several subspecies in different categories, but I’m focusing on the encompassing name of “Plains Zebra”.

Different subspecies of Plains Zebras have slightly different characteristics and stripe patterns. I think a few of these subspecies should be included, but as furs. So for the species “Plains Zebra”, coat (aka stripe) variations could include Burchell, Grant, Chapman, Crawshay, and Maneless. Those could also have rare leucistic variations.

My ideas for common coats:
1️⃣ Grant
2️⃣ Crawshay
3️⃣ Chapman

Uncommon Coats:
4️⃣ Burchell
5️⃣ Maneless

Rare Coats:
6️⃣ Pseudo Melanistic
7️⃣ Leucistic (Common variations)

Very Rare Coats:
8️⃣ Leucistic (Uncommon variations)
9️⃣ Melanistic

Possible Fabled?
🔟 Spotted
⭐️ Quagga

All in all.. I think it would simplify “zebras” in a way that gives them variety worth adding them, while taking away the complications of which zebra subspecies are found where. There are also Mountain Zebra subspecies for other continents.

I think so too!! That’s actually one of the reasons I thought including all the Plains Zebra as “one” species was better. Besides overall rarity and the /slight/ differences in stripe patterns, the subspecies are barely discernible from each other. I think adding an extinct (not to discount the re-breeding program) subspecies as a Fabled coat would be better than making it a rare spawning species

I hunted with the descendants of Burchell on their South African property. Very fun hunt
