the 45 colt rounds are currently being registered as a rifle round when used with either type of 45 round. you even gain rifle experience form harvests.

I'm sorry to hear you encountered trouble with the Mangiafico 410/45 Colt handgun. I understand this can be confusing.
We have received similar reports about this handgun being incorrectly recognized as a rifle in several mechanics of the game, such as rewarding rifle score instead of handgun score for harvests, and we are investigating the situation internally. In the meantime, as a workaround, we recommend using other revolvers to increase handgun score and for completing mission objectives requiring the use of handguns.
