One thing I feel needs more attention brought to it in game is callers. I hunt with the bow semi often, and use callers to make animals turn when they're too close to fire off a .22 round, but seeing how animals in real life react to certain noises, I can't help but think some animals should have different reactions to different callers
For one, I really want a genuine sika deer caller. As of now we only call them with the red deer caller, and the e-caller. And the e-caller makes a red deer sound when being used for sika. Sika sound so cool and absolutely deserve their own caller
The main thing that made me wanna make this post is collared peccary, or javelina. I was watching a MeatEater video, and when javelina were targeted, they used a predator caller like the one in game that attracts peccary. However, irl, peccary come BARRELING towards the sound of the caller, and usually won't stop either. This could spice up hunts on Rancho and Parque, maps that aren't hunted as often as most others
And that leads me to another idea, that callers should have some variation in how they can be used. Sort of like in Way of The Hunter, you can change how you use the caller. If I wanna call in coyotes, I'll use the normal jackrabbit caller, if I wanna call in peccary and get that unique reaction, I'll call with a far more frantic sound, if that makes sense?
Another thing that I like the idea of is using antlers or bones and scraping them against a tree to get a more territorial reaction out of deer species. Especially moose. My grandfather used to tell me stories of bull moose coming in much faster if you scraped a bone or antler against a tree, to imitate the sound of another bull asking for a challenge. I'm not sure how well this would work on other deer, though
I'm sure there's far more options for callers than these that I'm unaware of, but these are my current little 3am ideas while I have nothing else to do :)
