I know there's been a previous suggestion regarding North Carolina, but it was more waterfowl oriented.

A western NC map would hit hard. Manitoban Elk (both NC and TN started their modern herds with Manitoban instead of Rocky Mountain Elk), Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, Eastern Wild Turkeys, Wild Boar (no, I did not stutter), Bobcats, Beavers, River Otters, Raccoons, Virginia Opossum, Red and Grey Fox, Eastern Cottontail Rabbit, Grey and Fox Squirrel, Bobwhite Quail, Ruffed Grouse, Mallards, Pintails, Green and Blue Wing Teal, Wood Ducks, etc.

Add baiting and a new hound for hunting bears, cats, and coons, including an option to run multiple dogs at a time, and a brand new truck with dog box and gear storage in the back.

That would quite literally be the ultimate map outside of Africa 2.0.

Species classes would be as follows:

Class 1

Eastern Cottontail
Grey and/or Fox Squirrel
Bobwhite Quail
Ruffed Grouse
Mallards
Pintails
Green Wing and Blue Wing Teal
Wood Ducks
Eastern Wild Turkey

Class 2

Red and Grey Fox
Opossum
Raccoon
Beaver
River Otter

Class 3

Bobcats

Class 4

Whitetail Deer

Class 5

Wild Boar

Class 7

Black Bear
Manitoban Elk

It's a nice mix of familiar species and a bunch of new ones, and gets virtual hunters one more subspecies closer to a North American Elk Slam. A few new duck species, a few new smaller game mammals, and RUFFED GROUSE!

And it's a fantastic map to break in hunting hounds and bait stations.

We need more Elk maps. They are very underrated in the game.

Hello dcinsd,

A Smoky Mountains reserve would definitely bring a unique and diverse hunting experience! The variety of species you mentioned—from Manitoban Elk to Black Bears, and even the idea of incorporating a new hound and baiting mechanics—could offer players a rich, immersive gameplay option. The suggestion of including a truck with specialized gear storage and a dog box for hunting with multiple dogs adds a fresh dynamic that would really elevate the experience.

It’s always exciting to think about expanding the range of environments and species in the game. Your detailed breakdown of species classes shows a deep understanding of the ecosystem, and a map like this would surely appeal to many players. Thanks for sharing these great ideas with us! If you’d like to suggest more, feel free to reach out to us at: https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

In addition, with the hounds would come a GPS collar tracking function that could be incorporated into the already existing Hunter Mate or made separately like the controller for the e-caller.

In the tracking hints, scent would be added so dogs could pick up on bear/cat/coon scent and be able to distinguish if it is old or fresh.

My main issue with a map specifically based on Western NC and Eastern KY is that every single potential new species could just be added to another existing map and it could fit well there (apart from the Ducks). Opossums could be put on Mississippi and NEM, Beaver would fit well on Mississippi and Yukon, Gray/Fox Squirrels would fit well anywhere in North America, and Ruffed Grouse would fit especially well on NEM and Yukon.

A map based on the whole of NC is something I would love to see though, including the Western part. It could be much like an American Revontuli, with some big game (Elk, Black Bear, Whitetail, potentially Red Wolves), some Small Game (Squirrels, Foxes, Raccoons, Beavers, Opossums, and possibly Otters) and a lot of New Waterfowl (American Wigeon, Northern Pintail, Blue-Wing Teal, Wood Duck, Redhead, etc). The variety of habitats would make for an interesting place.

# lost bobcat The selling point to me on this map is a couple things: 1. Another elk map, but...

I do want to see Manitoban Elk in game, to complete the Elk Slam (aside from Tule Elk since I doubt we’ll ever get them in game). This or North Dakota is probably our best shot at them. I’d simply prefer a map with more variety, as a map in NC should be.

The Smokies are mostly hilly forests with occasional clearings, and a little bit of Alpine in the highest elevations.

NC as a whole includes all those, along with deltas, grasslands, farmland, and marshlands. This could include Elk, Bears, and Wild Boars.

So, one way I could see this implemented is if they double the size of the map. The Western third could be a lot like New England Mountains, the middle third would be like the rolling foothills (grassland and relatively open woodlands) on the east side of Mississippi Acres, and the eastern third would have your cropland, swamps, and deltas. You could also add Feral Hogs to the map on the eastern side stretching into the middle, with a little bit of overlap happening with the Wild Boar territory to the west. Bears would be everywhere, you could have a limited population of Gators in the swamps. An eastern US Elk map, bear hunting with hounds and bait stations, and a North American Boar map would still be the highlights of this release, but there would be a lot more options and diverse terrain. This would also be a great release to time with an Elk or Wild Boar GO.
