Currently, the maps don't tell us enough. Especially when you're trying to find an area clear of trees. I believe we should have a 3D map, like Skyrim, but a tad different. Instead of the full map being 3D, only discovered parts of the map are 3D. This will keep outposts "hidden" and will help hunters recall locations of the map. The 3D maps wouldn't have to be EXTREMELY detailed, colors would only have to differentiate between a few different things like grass, paths/roads, trees, water, "stone" , and a few other things. And the 3D maps wouldn't have to be active all the time, they could be toggled on and off with a button. The map could also be able to tilt and rotate so the player can see all of the map, even based on which direction they're facing.
Player made pins, could also be added. These pins would allow the player to permanently mark, unless they remove it, their map to better remember things, like the zones they include in a grind, or a place they just like.
