Seems very odd for a classic sporting rifle made of wood to have a rail for scopes.
Few if any .375s feature this irl, instead they tend to have a classic block style mounting for scopes.
This would look much nicer.
Consider changing!

Replace/remove the Rail from the upcoming .375
Agreed. Instant ick from that preview.
Please EW, the rail just looks so off
I totally agree
Rail would be a mistake. Just as annoying as the caversham too
Hey so, I found this on Nexus Mods. It's Utherian's Remington 700 mod for Fallout 4. The teaser screenshot of the .375 looks way too close to this mod 🤔
That’s true ! Interesting…
The rail that is above the bolt is the scope support but don't worry, when it is in the game and you remove the scope it will not have that on the iron sight.
The rest of the rifles didn’t showcase the rail, why showcase the rail, we will have to wait and see.
They aren’t strangers to throwing random rails on the iron sights.
Yeah I’m not sure about that fella
The scopes do not attach to the rail or mounts that show on the weapon
Look close and they use the rail attached to the scope. The rail on the .375 is pointless
We will only know when they say it.
Agreed. It looks so off.
Halfway to 100 likes, this is growing pretty fast
I can't get over how much it looks like the Fallout mod
I mean, there’s only so many ways to make a realistic looking bolt action rifle. Remington 700s and sporting Mausers look a lot a like for good reason. So realistic gun models will look very similar between games.
Fair, but considering the caliber of this particular rifle. The rail is way out of place and totally not necessary. A .375 is typically used for dangerous animals in very fast shooting so a thin front sight blade is weird too. They should be express style sights with either a large bead or thick front post
I’m just saying there’s no need to bring up mods from other games. EW is plenty capable of making strange choices on their own without copying other people. Case in point: the Caversham.
Yes, but I don't want to pay for a copy of a free mod either. It doesn't have to be a Remington clone either
How about we ease off the mod talk and wait and see what the devs are cooking?
Please, ditch the rail so we can see more of our targets
They removed it from a shotgun, maybe they’re listening
That made me so frickin happy, that rail has bothered me since I started playing
It definitely needs gone, no gun shoul have a rail on it unless there’s an optic mounted to it. What I’ll also add is that this gun better be good then I might consider playing cotw again
If they add rails. At least make it useable with iron sights, AND make it so its the 2 piece version. One on front of receiver and one on the rear. At least it would minimalize the look of modern stuff on a historic cartridge/gun combo
Sights like on the bushmaster preview or the Eckers would be perfect. I personally have not seen any open sight safari rifles with just a rail there, it's not aesthetic or useful. A scope can still be mounted just fine without it
This is more of a personal nitpick, but I don't like the ring at the end of the barrel either, it will clog view. I'd rather have as much field of view as I can when hunting dangerous game like the tigers and capes
I believe the ring you are referring to is the front sight hood. It helps protect the front sight and is moderatly common but usually removable. Surprisingly they don't block much of your view because of how thin they tend to be and look good on certain rifles especially safari rifles imo.
You're correct, I did actually learn shortly after posting that the ring is very slight when actually aiming.
So for me that isn't a problem anymore in the slightest.
Yea they're barely visible when you're shooting but they have several drawbacks, unless it's got a special notch in it to help with retention then brush can snag it and pull them off ( I lost like 6 before switching to a new front sight for my .30-30)
The other problem is because it covers the front sight with a shadow and in low light or against a dark target it makes the sight look fuzzy and bigger than it should.
I'm kinda afraid it'll look like the iron sight on the .270, it's super thin but the ring is distinct
I just hope the actual "pin" on the end of the front post sight is very thin and not blocky like the .300 mag for example
. 300 CM bolt action sights are hard to use for me, it blends together too much
Yea it’s terrible. I hope the .375 sights are in no way similar to that.
The sights on the .22-250 and bolt .338 are horrible too, I think I like the Malmer 7mm and Olsson. 308 have the best sights in game to me, aside from peep sights like the .303 and M1
Rangemaster 338 too
The way it’s sighted is so you need to put that huge block over your target instead of aiming with the tip of the geometry. Makes the open sights totally obsolete
And the red dot is smashed into your face like it's a magnified scope too, that makes it useless to me as well
I wish they'd done it like way of the hunter
Yea the red dot is no good
I want to see my gun if I use a red dot, not just have a 0 magnification scope. The exakt reflex is a good example of a red dot
Well that rail is gone
Glad to see they listened
But what you're looking at is the .450 here.
That being said, it is also gone on the .375
My issue is that the back of the cocking piece attached to the firing pin is flush with the back of the bolt shroud, whether the rifle is fired or not.
After the rifle is fired, it should be forward.
That's a mauser pattern bolt, that's the shroud over the cooking piece, not the actual spring/pin.
Believe me, it's frikin annoying to remove and clean when the pin breaks
Not just the one in the picture, but the others.
At this point of the animation, that is correct
Called it on the .300 lmao
I think they just got the two mixed up
These are the same
Yup, got my terminology mixed there.
Point still stands
Yea but in.just showing the .375 has no rail. But yeah, these are just exaggerated shrouds.
Tbh, I'm happy with the .450 too, I expected it to look worse
Hey, the .450 is actually a Winchester model 70 type action, so it doesn't show a change at the rear of the bolt either.
The only one that should is the .300, IF I'm thinking of the right model
They are different rifles
The .375 is PERFECT
I wish we could HEAR it. I wanna hear that thunder drumming
It’s exactly what I wanted. I am so stoked to hunt buffalo and stuff with it. But also yes, I’m interested to hear the audio. Hopefully it sounds like a bigger meaner eckers 30-06
I wanna hear a deep base BOOM, not a weak little snap (.223/.300blk)
This is really welcome news, not saying our post brought about this change but on the off chance that it did thank you for listening to us EW team!
We are all even more excited to try the new pack weapons when they release!
we finally have an appropriate buff basher
We did it!!! #📢︴game-news message
Tho I wouldn't mind if it appears when the scope is on, but still this way is better
It’s a major win for us all!
I’ll be taking down this post tomorrow now that we’ve achieved our goal.
Hopefully one day the same will happen on our Africa 2 post!
It would just turn into Africa 3.0
After 3.0 is 4 and 5. And I vote we just keep it rolling along
Yeah, it’s fun talking about Africa on it in general. I’d imagine it will turn into an African version of the sundarpaton chat when it was released back in June
