Let’s talk about the elephant in the room.
Elephants are probably the most requested animal for the next African map, and because of its popularity I want shine some light on something that I think is very interesting…a Great One Elephant

In this photo was a real elephant that was hunted in Sudan 1919. With its Four tusks this elephant was a once in several lifetimes animal, And because of its rarity I believe that this would be a perfect fit for a great one.

As for the story of the hunt itself, I am completely unsure. And why the man chose to wear his shorts that high up, I am unsure. But here is what I do know, a four tusked Elephant Great One would be absolutely amazing to see for the game

Giraffe are fairly cheap too. I’ve seen kudu hunts more expensive than most giraffe hunts

As @slender bough states, Giraffe is a rather affordable Plains Game species (I am a little surprised that Greater Kudu can be more expensive then Giraffe though)

60 inchers and bigger go for a lot

I saw one kudu hunt for a 60somthing inch monster, the price was like 5k
And the cheapest giraffe hunt I’ve seen was 1,500

While yes, Elephants are expensive to hunt, they can and are regularly hunted in 8 countries (Botswana, South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Cameroon). They can be hunted for anywhere from $10,000 for management bulls/tuskless elephants, to over $100,000 USD for large trophy bulls.

Giraffes are even more regularly hunted, and even though they can only be hunted in Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, are common prey species on many game ranches and hunting reserves. They can be hunted for as low as $2500 USD, which is cheaper than most Elk hunts.

Either way, both are very legal to hunt, and along with Rhinos and Leopards, would be a great way to bring people to an African Reserve.

The lowest for Giraffes I found on bookyourhunt.com was about $2500, but I don’t doubt they go lower.

They added Tigers and Snow Leopards. Both are protected species in Nepal and although a Tiger Hunting Program was proposed in the early 2010’s, it never went through. Snow Leopard hunting has been completely banned in Nepal for over 50 years. Both of those species as well as Blackbuck and Water Buffalo, 2 other illegal species to hunt in Nepal, are on Sundarpatan.

As for countries that allow the hunting of elephants
Ethiopia technically allows elephant hunts…but there’s no elephant hunting area in the country

It’s definitely a technicality though. Elephants are on the list for animals you can hunt there but once again there’s no elephant areas in Ethiopia

Right, buuuuuut it is a game, and seeing as they kinda just made up a new hunting reserve in Nepal (other than Dhorpatan), I wouldn’t put it past them to make a reserve that’s an elephant hunting area in the games universe. I’d still prefer to see elephants added on a map set in Mozambique or Namibia, but honestly anywhere will do at this point.

There are elephants in Ethiopia, but they happen to live in sanctuaries.

I never said there were no elephants in Ethiopia. I was saying that there’s nowhere to hunt elephants even though they are on the list of what you can hunt in Ethiopia

One of the main reasons for it, in terms of the game, is to provide an Africa 2.0 map that is not actually Vurhonga 2.0.

Personally I think a reserve in Ethiopia should play heavily into it’s antelope variety instead of having elephants and rhinos, plus if an Ethiopian Reserve is to come with a controversial/protected species it should be the Walia Ibex (alongside Mountain Nyala)

Plus the only big 5 species that seem to actually be hunted there are Leopard followed by Lion and Buffalo (Nile Buffalo to be specific)

G1 Elephants based on Prehistoric Proboscideans would be really cool in my opinion. Some based on Platybelodon or Gompotherium would be really cool and unique

In that case it would be cool, but they would have to increase the lodges to fit animals that size, especially if you want more than one of the animal in them.
