6.5 must have class 7, not the best for elk but it is used for it, from a bullet to low range, 100-150 meters

It wouldn't be much work honestly, I remember someone explaining how the engine's ballistics work, unlike unreal which has real ballistics, in Apex it's something static, devs would just need to edit status or something like that, damage values, there is no real bullet, that's what I understood.

Some alternate rifles for calibers we already have woul be cool. The 9.3 would be a sweet over under or double, a .338 bolt action with a wood stock would be nice, and an updated .30-30 would be really cool as long as it used modern ammo

sry for the late reply I did more research and you are correct it can be used for moose. Mid range high expansion bullets & like any animal a well placed shot is actually a recommendation for moose 👍 Thanks for the reply

Also apparently the .338 in game is a 338 lapua mag. Although to me its a little lackluster for that round in the game. I think a new 338 round should be added. Maybe a win mag or remington ultra mag. Maybe a ruger guide gun or Winchester model 70 or remington 700. Or a browning bar in 338win mag.

For a new old lever a tion we could add the 348. Was pretty popular for a time.m for bear and elk. That or the 35 whelen or even 35 remington

Maybe some more double rifles. Theres a kodiak express double barrel rifle in 45-70. Maybe a 375 or 458. If we ever needed something bigger than 470 then maybe a bolt action 505 gibbs

Nemo Omen 458win / Winchester Model 1895 - 405Win are also good choices

In my opinion a 22 creedmoor should be added as an alternative to the 243 because with equal weighted bullets the 22 has the same or a very little less muzzle energy but from ~100m on more energy than the 243 and it's also flatter shooting

looking at it it is a fatter casing like the 6.5 creed. Huh I wouldn't mind that as a 2-5 maybe 2-6 tier caliber.

# nimble spruce I never really use the 243 on classes 6 or even 5 either but if 243 is rated 2-6...

It has a lot to do with terminal ballistics. 243 has a lot of hydrostatic shock and creates a large temporal wound cavity. Despite it being a small 6mm bullet, it punches above when people give it credit for. Theres a reason its allowed for elk and moose in some states irl. With a good bullet and a clean shot i would trust a 243 to do almost anything i need it too. Not saying any of the 22 centerfire rounds are bad. Im just saying ive seen 243 bullets zip thru a black bears shoukder and go thru both lungs, blowing up the heart and still leaving an exit wound. I’ve also seen whitetails shot with 22-250 and .223. Havent seen the .22 cm but those .22 bullets tend to smush on bone. At least all the ones i’ve seen. Federal fusion and swift A frames are always go-to’s. But even with a broadside shot the chance of hitting a rib is high. So i’ll take the .243 just from my experience from shooting/hunting etc.

# red belfry It has a lot to do with terminal ballistics. 243 has a lot of hydrostatic shock ...

From what i've seen the 22 creedmoor can create an equal ore even larger wound cavity than the 243, depending on the distance, I don't know about a hydrostatic shock comparison between those two or what happens when it hits a bone, but I've seen a video of a whitetail being shot with the 22 creed and it got a double lung at about 300 yards if i remember correctly. Also as far as i know a well placed shot, even with a 223 can kill elk/moose so the 22 creed should be able to take them down as well (with a well placed shot ofcourse).

well the mosin doesn't cover class 2 and in my opinion the 22-250 (and 223) are way to weak on class 3 and 4 animals and I just want to use another weapon than the ranger. Yes I absolutly can cover all classes with 3 or 4 weapons but then there is always at least one class that's unnecessary difficult to kill (in terms of what time it takes for the animal to die after hitting a vital or being able to hit vitals at longer distances/worse angles)

This is pretty consistent for me. About the only thing i cant get to lung with the .22-250 or .223 is moose and class 9. Except i can get bison. If they are under 80 meters i can get double lung reliably on bison. Been able to get single lung out to 390 with soft point ammo so far. For it to work with moose i need polymer bullets and 60 meters or closer for a single lung

You also put most calibers with 2 different options that both have different classes, that’s usually not how it goes in this game, you get a soft point and hollow point in the same class range most the time, not different grained ammo. But it’s good to hope

#

Oh I just noticed you made different bullet ideas for every caliber, never mind then

I did alot more research into the huntable game we have since I knew nothing about them personally except US Game for the most part. So after actually looking at records, videos etc. I reevaluated the previous guess based on game logic & rescaled to IRL Game Size/Weight & Yes! Lions & Tigers remained T:9 Due to Danger level since they are classified under Dangerous Game IRL. Bullet types and weight are based on Huntable Game's Size/Weight and Reliability to ethically put them down. So, I see no reason why this isn't reasonable. Esp. since TH: CotW is intended to be a hunting game and semi simulate irl hunting respectively with some videogame logic. I also did a more realistic caliber/gauge Game Tier coverage as well based on actual bullet weight over EW's Video Game Weapon Class Restriction wall. https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1273124990723555491

now I would increase the all classes on the .300 by 1 [(150gr 4/ 178gr 5-7/ 200gr 8-9)] keep in mind it has way more power than the 303/308 (also maybe adjust the 308s range to 3-8 it's not a 2-8 rifle in my opinion)

dry thicket

but when talking about weapon loadouts this change would make all other weapons that cover classes 2-6 somewhat useless. If I could use one rifle to cover classes 1-8 there is no reason to carry two, which would serve the same purpose (I know it's not realistic to carry 3 or more rifles on a hunting trip but in terms of "game balance" it wouldn't make sense to implement this change)

The whole VG mechanic goes against their vision as they claim "Intended to be a hunting game" if huntable game & calibers are restricted to a VG Mechanic wall. Plus me & several ppl are irritated about it. Players & irl hunters should have the option to use their favored caliber as intended over being restricted to a tier wall that makes no sense. That also includes gear weight but thats for a 3rd gen title. If ammo cant be added in then atleast the caliber tiers and Game Classes can be adjusted to IRL specs as I suggested for balance & utility. Africa 2.0 ppl are screaming for it to be as authentic as possible. So I see no reason why our calibers cant be. This also goes for all huntable game as well.

I personally lke using 300h&h mag and 300win mag for whitetail irl. (Normally i use .32, 243, or 30-06) but they’re fun to take out sometimes. 300mag in game should be more useful. The class system is weird

The problem is that EW tries to create difficulty by puting restrictions on the ammo which (I agree) makes zero sense. But if the game would be realistic a player would only carry 1 or tho rifles/shotgun/bow and many players just want to cover all classes with their setup so the most realistic hunting loadout for those people would probably be the .22-240 which is allowed on anything from hare/rabits to smaller deer and the .300win mag (which can take down anything from deer to moose and in theory even dangerous game. So for all those players all the other weapon would just be unnecessary and there would be very little to no sellpoint to future DLCs (for this specific part of the playerbase)

Using the current class system, 300makes sense for SOME class 9 animals. Really just lion(although minimum cal is ether 9,3 or 375 irl usually) lion have been taken with 270. Along with them, the two species of bison. European and american. Most bison in north america on the boone and crocket list have been taken with .300 mags. Although i think they are a but weak for a class 9 in game. Other than that 300mag should be able to be class 4 easily. Or they add a class 10 and move some animals. Over to that

To be honest, in my opinion the .300WM should include class 9 if the .375 h&h does it as well, because (depending on how far you can compare them with very different bullet weights) the .375 has just about 100-200 ft*lbs more energy (which is only 5-6%) and the velocity of the .375 is about 450 ft/s lower (about 20% less ) and as far as I know the bullet weight and diameter aren't the only important values when considering it for hunting
