Greetings to you players and administrators of the game. I have a question especially for the xbox version. I have xbox series x in network settings everything is fine it doesn't report any problem . But still I have a problem to find players on some maps as if no one is playing that map MP ( is it possible ? Is there really so few xbox players that no one is playing that map online ??) and sometimes when it finds a game with the selected map I connect but after a while it throws me a failed sync message. Is this normal or do I need to have a static and public IP address purchased from IPS ? Could this solve the search and sync problems ?

It is normal , I also play on Xbox and it happens all the time, the multiplayer servers are made out of potatoes and it seems like it will never be fixed.

Hello @wanton burrow,

Thank you for reaching out about the connection issues you're experiencing on Xbox.

@molten bramble is correct that theHunter: Call of the Wild uses a peer-to-peer connection model for multiplayer, meaning you connect directly to other players rather than through dedicated servers.

For troubleshooting and further assistance with these connection problems, we recommend contacting us through our support page. Providing details about your issue there will help us offer more tailored support and work towards a solution.

You can reach us here: https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the game.

@slate drift @slate drift So if I set up a public ip should the connection improve? And my operator offers public ipv6 and ipv4 which is better to have ?

Happens all the time especially on PC too. Very normal for MP.

Hello, same problems for me here on xbox. Connecting multiplayer mode is impossible with my Xbox friends. We can all join public games, but we can't invite each other to our private games. Do you have a solution? Before, at the beginning of the year I would say, everything worked perfectly, very smoothly. But since this August, when we try to play together, we have connection errors with black screens.

#

we have all done tests on our side, everything works well for each of us on our side, but it is only when we invite ourselves on Xbox that we have this error. maybe an Xbox live problem with your game? could you inform us and maybe you have an update of the game planned soon for this?

@deft crane @slate drift
I'm trying a public IP (IPV6) from the providera . So far we haven't had a problem with my wife and I playing on two xbox .but I can't confirm yet if this is a coincidence or a workaround.

@deft crane It is necessary that the provider supports public IP. It also depends on what kind of router you have. I have a smart box from o2 and after setting up public ipv6 it will automatically open the ports that are used or that I specify myself. Try looking in the router settings upnp must be enabled. Or try turning upnp off and adding the xbox IP address to the DMZ. I've been testing public ipv6 from my provider for a few days now and it looks good so far. Before that my wife and I were having trouble connecting and we were playing on the same network . But after setting up public ipv6 it looks good . So far we haven't had a problem and even the players who connect to us are not immediately kicked out .

#

@deft crane Some internet providers give a public ip for free some want some extra money for it. I would try contacting the provider to verify the openness of the port you have set on the xbox.. I recommend setting up alternate ports. For me in auto select sometimes something didn't work.

Thank you for your help.

In the beginning of the year, it works.

I have change nothing.

I am un France, my internet provider (FREE) have a public IP spécial for me.

All ports are open, and my Xbox is already on DMZ.

wanton burrow
#

And have you tried turning off dmz and turning on upnp I'm sending a screen. For me it automatically sets upnp and I don't have to set anything further so try to consult with a provider I guess I can't help you

deft crane
#

Yes, already testing that but it's even worse.

#

With DMZ, my Xbox is NAT OPEN, all is working fine with other games or services…

@deft crane Try contacting your provider to see if they can help you.Describe the problem to them and ask for help.I should add that sync only solves the problem for you, which means they should be able to connect to you without any problems. If you are connecting to someone who doesn't have this set up then a sync problem may occur

deft crane
#

Ok, it is maybe the settings of my friends who is bad.

@deft crane So. Update . My solution is not 100% anyway .It's better but it's not 100% .Still some players still have problem to connect .There are less of them but still the problem is there to a lesser extent

deft crane
#

OK, this is a bug in Game or in last Xbox update…

wanton burrow
#

@deft crane The problem is probably in the game. When I searched for some information about this problem, the same problem is also on pc players

deft crane
#

Ok, i wait an update… 🤞

@deft crane @broken warren I got an idea . What about trying to enable all alternate ports in NAT/PAT including 3070? What if others are using different ports ( I also use an alternate port )

@slate drift It would be nice if the developers or the support of the game would express themselves here, since we are already discussing this topic. Any advice on what could help us or is it really a bug on the game's side.@broken warren

now I'm thinking. If xbox uses ipv6 and I have ipv6 do I need public ipv4? Will players who only have ipv4 connect to me then ?

wanton burrow
#

So . I'm trying something completely different today, I've addressed this with Microsoft support. The console uses both ipv protocols (4 and 6) according to support but the console prefers ipv6 so that eliminates the workaround and problems with NAT or UPNP . Since I played I always had upnp on because otherwise the console said NAT medium or strict but if the provider offers ipv6 and you see ipv6 in the console settings so NAT or upnp is not that important to you . It is only recommended. So I turned off upnp completely I left the rules and we will see what happens . I haven't tried this combination of settings yet .Upnp has always been on. Try it too ( only for those who are setting up and hosting the game .)@broken warren @deft crane @median jewel

And if you have ipv6, according to support, players with ipv4 will connect to you just fine
