I love Call of the Wild (COTW) a lot—its gameplay, visuals, and how smoothly it runs. However, I'm not here to talk about bugs since there are already too many discussions about them. Instead, I'd like to suggest some additions that could greatly enhance the game's immersive experience:

  1. Climbing Tripod Animation: Adding animations for climbing tripods would add a touch of realism.
  2. Treestand Animation: An animation for crafting and climbing treestands would make these actions more engaging.
  3. Loading Screen Cut Scenes: When traveling to another outpost, a cut scene showing a journey through beautiful landscapes, with vehicle sounds spooking animals in the radius, could make loading screens more interesting.
  4. Deploying Gear Animation: Animations for deploying gear such as electronic callers and hunting equipment would enhance the game's visual appeal.
  5. Visible Gear: Having guns on the back, binoculars at the waist, and all carried items visible (though managing four weapons might be tricky) would add to the visual realism.
  6. Trophy Lodge Stories: Allowing players to write short stories about specific hunts in the Trophy Lodge would add a personal touch.
  7. Scope Switching Animation: Animations for switching scopes, as well as visual bullet drops (even if not realistic), would add to the visual enjoyment.
  8. Swimming: Adding the ability to swim would open up more gameplay possibilities.
  9. New Gun/Restock Animation: Animations for getting new guns or restocking bullets from storage would be a nice touch.
  10. Visible NPCs and Story Quests: Making NPCs visible and interactive during story quests would deepen the narrative experience.

These are just a few ideas, but I believe implementing them could elevate COTW to a triple-A game level. As a 3D designer, I've explored the COTW modding community and noticed that most mods focus on cheats rather than enhancing visuals, except for render distance mods. The game's files aren't open source, and as I'm not a coder, it's challenging for me to make these changes myself. I wish I could remake the animations and develop the game as I've described, but I know it's a complex task.

If anyone has ideas on how to improve the game, please share them so we can discuss them. It might just be a dream since the developers seem busy creating new reserves and weapons for sale...

I don't believe swimming would fit well, who swims with 5 guns, binoculars, and tons of calls in full camo?

No you do have a valid point to the lack of next tier immersion. They attempted it sort of in the Angler with the shop keeper and warden npc's. But I do believe theres a lot of merit here for a 3rd gen TheHunter title, taking Cotw as its 2nd gen/Classic 1st gen. I dont think the current engine and software could handle it to this level as old as it is and honestly I'm shocked its still going 😅

#

However there's alot of features I too would like to see to set the bar before the next gen title.

Ultimate Hunting might be the competing bar if done well, and EW would likely need a new gen Title of their series if they want to keep players. And I'm well aware its a huge task. I've gamed enough to see things most dont with generations of design. Sadly alot of it is mainstream over original.....its lazy.

so it'll likely go like this, they'll keep adding content till they release the grand finale. The game will likely stay active for 2-3yrs after with a dwindling player base. So at 5yrs it'll likely be a solo dead game. By then most companies have a new title.

#

They have 3yrs for 10yr then 5yrs after it'll be a pc only live game bc consoles yea are consoles sadly. However new mechanics and gameplay will keep the game going. I still play it and I still havn't done all the stories and I've been playing since launch.

#

But new additions will keep players coming bk. If ppl left and they release Africa 2.0 oh......ppl will come flooding bk in a heartbeat

For me I love predator hunting and as long as I have content and additional features to expand my immersion to do so I'm all in.

The threads are full of genius ideas. But lets be real the community is pretty vast n they are the life blood for the game so. It'll run its course eventually and they will likely release another TheHunter title with a new and improved engine to do alot more.

That would be super good, but im not sure if the game engine could handle it

would like to see more animal animations before player animations ..... Third person perspective would IMO help to make player experience more immersive ... https://discord.com/channels/393040947006406657/1184097697305727016

Also imagine some of the animations you mentioned being seen in third person .... Like climbing into stands ....
