Roosevelt Elk are perhaps the most underrated big-antlered trophy in the game. They deserve some love too. Get up in the mountains of Layton, and they're as challenging and spectacular as any other deer species. The Rocky Mountain Elk gets all the attention for a rework and Great One - but the Roosevelt Elk needs a retouch too, and maybe a little respect.

Let us know what you think about the magnificent Roosevelt Elk and its future in the game. Show some pics!

We definitely need more options for Roosevelt Elk. I prefer them over Rocky Mountain Elk also.

I love the different variety of unique antlers they can have. The have a bigger body than the Rockys as well. They are my favorite thing to hunt in game. I wish EW would show them the love the Red Deer gets . Please EW give us more options for these Majestic Beast!!!

I know this one is probably farmed, but this would be sweet as one of the Great One options you could get

Hello Hunters,

Your enthusiasm for the Roosevelt Elk is great to see! They’re indeed a majestic species and it’s clear that many players, like you, appreciate their unique qualities and challenges.

It's interesting to hear that you prefer them over the Rocky Mountain Elk and would like to see them receive more attention. They do have impressive antlers and a distinctive presence in the game, and it would be fantastic to see them get some additional features or options.

Your suggestion for a rework or new content for Roosevelt Elk will definitely be noted. Sharing your thoughts and showcasing your favorite moments with them is a valuable way to highlight their importance and potential in the game.

Feel free to share any more ideas or provide feedback directly at https://support.thehunter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. Thanks for your input and for being an active part of the community!

When it comes to modeling (body and antlers, skin, design), the Roosevelt elk is superior to the Rocky Mountain elk. At the lodge entrance, I have right next to me the diamond medal Roosevelt elk. It is beautiful.

New World's Record Roosvelt's Elk. It's wonderful! 🤩

Man, I had to crawl thru a mile of weeds to sneak up on this Rosey in the dark on Layton - it was in a huge herd Eating right behind a huge herd of Blacktails Drinking. Best hunt ever!

I agree with user Seakayak here. Roosevelt Elk are the bulkier species of the two and one of the most interesting species in-game. People might speak of the Rocky Mountain Elk a lot because perhaps people plays more on Multiplayer on the SRP reserve than Layton.

The antlers of this subspecies (Roosevelt) are shorter than the Rocky Mountain Elk IRL, but they got mass to it.

It would be neat to have some lighter variations in the fur of the Roosie like we have with the Rocky, meanwhile retaining the ones we got already for the Roosie in-game.

What a beautiful game this is.

If Roosies and Rockies get remodels at the same time, I think there should be some key differences between them.

Roosies need the size of their antlers reduced slightly, as while they do get huge, their antlers appear smaller in comparison to their body as they are a lot bigger bodied than RM Elk.

Rockies need a rework to their antlers, with more thickness to the main beams and tines, as well as less curves in their main beams. Their bodies also need to be smaller when compared to Roosies.

Wait on the left is the Roosevelt, if that's it he's super handsome, why does the one in the game not have the black spot around his neck

yes by the way it must be super cool if one day they only put rocky mountain goats and rocky mountain elk on the Layton Lake District. From what I have seen, these are really visible animals in the Washington region and nearby.

RIP Eastern elk :(

The Eastern Elk is actually thought to have just been the Manitoban Elk, not its own subspecies. Therefore, they still exist, just not throughout their historic range. Instead the RM Elk replaced them in the east in reintroductions.

Still, the RM Elk has improved the forests where they’ve been reintroduced.

I'm discovering that a number of these eastern states that have transplanted elk are actually getting Manitoban Elk. North Carolina for one.

What I'm really enjoying is how the transplanted elk are starting to take on characteristics of their new locales. Pennsylvania's bulls tend to have gigantic chocolate colored antlers that seem to be a product of their environment. I always have fun seeing what new freakazoid or dozen come out of there each season.

On another note, a California map with Roosies and Tule would be sick.

I really hope the next map gives the Roosevelt Elk the update they need. It such a shame this animal has gotten left behind in reworks and huntable locations.

They truly are underrated currently. They are my favorite animal to hunt in this game yet they only have one map and their population got reduced with the G1 Moose update. I believe that's when their homerange got messed up.

  1. I miss about my first time hunt in Layton. Because animals were everywhere. Now moose and Elks live in different places. It's boring.

  2. I know it will hurt of feelings of believers but new GO is suck. It had to be Elk and mule. Beautiful horned animals. Even top bloggers quickly abandoned a fox go. Because it has 0.000000001% of chance.
