Jaxy mentioned in the "Whats your fav Weapons" stream that the weapons/ammo in this game are based on their real life counterparts but are not meant to be exact replicas and that there is some kind of balance in the game. I'm mostly fine with the fact that the weapons do not perform as well as their real life counter part but some weapons are very poorly balanced.
From my understanding balancing weapons is either have them perform very similar and just have different aesthetics or perform differently because they have some stats increased by "sacraficing" another to fit a specific role like decreasing time to kill but increasing its weight. Also the aesthetics (with the exception of fireing modebolt (action vs semi-auto) or mag size which is based by their visual design) shouldn't have any influence on the balancing of the weapons stats because they are very subjective and it doesn't make any sense to have a weapon perform better because it is ugly.
Also with 3 points in recoil managment the recoil differences are very little or sometimes unnoticeable therefore not being very important on the balancing aspekt

I'm sort of a casual player with 600+ hours who preferes to take out a few (1 or 2) animals with longer range shots ( 150-400m) because I just don't want to sneak up close to the animals so based on my experience these following cases really need some attention:

#
  1. Virant .22LR and Zarza-15 .22LR:
They both perform extremely similar and have the same weight but the Virant has twice the mag size of the Zarza.
In this case I would either give both of them the 10 rounds or reduce the Zarzas weight from 2.5 to 2 to give it some special use case

  2. Class 2-4 weapons, especially .223 and 22-250:
They are based on calibers which are mainly used to hunt varmint (animals like coyote, foxes and raccoons (=class 2) but also on rabbits/hare (=class 1) and rats, squirrels, crows, ravens, pigeons (which would be class 1).
These calibers can also be jused to hunt wild boar/hogs (now class 5) or deer (class 4-6), but is quite reliant on shot placement due to its weaker power
Based on that and their relatively weak performance I would consider changing them to class 1-4 and increase the weight of the .223 and 22-250 to 2.5 (keep the zarza .223 at 3) or give them a huge buff in penetration. especially when the .243 outperforms them in their class range (I do know that they weigh significantly less but even if I don't have enough weight I still prefer the .243 pistol because it's still easier to kill a single animal at longer ranges)
Side note: the 22-250 is called "Varminter" but isn't allowed to hunt some kinds of varmint xD

  1. Class 4-8 bolt action rifles:
.270 Huntsman: weighs 4 and is way less powerful than all dlc weapons (maybe except 6.5). Because irl it is allowed on roe deer and because it's a non-dlc weapon I would change it to a 3-7 weapon

Martensson 6.5 Millimeter: is also way less powerful than other dlc weapons and only weighs 0.5 less which isn't worth it regarding its low damage. Also I've compared it to the .308 because it has a longer effective range so I shot blue wildebeasts at 300m+ with heart shots and (both had the same penetration) but the .308 dropped them immediately and with the 6.5 they still walked 20m. So even though it has a higher effective range, ot is still worse at any range. Therefor I would change it to a 3-8 rifle (like the Moradi) to give it a better purpose

Eckers .30-06: It's basicly the M1 withe less ammo, more weight and slower fire rate so why does it weigh 4.5 (1 unit more) and more than both .300s

  1. Class 7-9 Rifles:
Right now the .300 AR outperforms the other 7-9 rifles, because the Canning Magnum has 1 shot less and the .338 weighs more and really isn't noticeable more powerfull. Therefore I would reduce the weight of the Canning Magnum to 3.5 (it really doesn't have to weigh more than class 4-8 rifles) and give the .338 way more penetration (like 30% more than the .300) so it actually makes a difference and I mean the actual penetration on an animal not the useless ammo stats ( ammo stats might be discussed in another post)
