#A rounded perspective of the new update

Hiya! I understand that the devs and those who moderate this server, along with other COTW spaces, are flooded with a lot of criticism and whilst I don't believe it is completely unfounded, I wanted to give my two-cents on the situation. I also wish to go about this as respectfully as possible, in hopes that this feedback can be assesed and reflected upon by those capable of making changes.

I understand that others have opinions on the tigers, but what I'd like to bring attention to is the state of the Tahr grind.

For some context - I am a full time student who also juggles a part time job, and I love to play COTW in my spare time. Even if it is only a few hours of the day, I really enjoy playing this game to unwind. I am a player who really enjoys and gets a lot of satisfaction from chasing great ones, and the new update/fixes have taken a lot of my current motivation.

I want to stress that I have no complaints about the rarity of great ones or the lengthy grinds. I love the RNG side, as it means nothing is guaranteed. However: The Tahr are already incredibly difficult, and I personally enjoyed the change in pace with grinding feed zones. But they were already challenging upon the release of Sunderpaten.

Now, with the changes to tent spawn radius, I frankly believe it is unrealistic to expect players to 'make do'. Yes, it is totally possible, but coupled with the longer respawn times, for the average & more casual players such as myself, I don't understand the rational behind this change.

A lot of the content that players like me consume is made by EW content creators. As much as I appreciate their willingness to adapt to these changes, I think it is important to remember most of these creators are not only paid to play and create content for the game, but for a lot of them it is a full time job. So yes, they have hours upon hours to dedicate to this game and grinding. This will not affect them as much, but they are not your wider community!

Your wider community and the people who are actually affected by this change are players like me and all the other people submitting feedback to you about these changes.

I appreciate needing to fix exploits (such as the 3-lake tiger method, but again, this is not what I'm focusing on in this post.), but what you have done is change a mechanism that has been in the game now for weeks, that has given people like myself to dedicate a few hours a day to setting up our Tahr grinds, and reverted it suddenly. It feels like a slap in the face to those of us who cannot dedicate our entire lives to this game, but also to those who can dedicate many more hours to it!

What I also find disappointing is that you have had representatives of your company (whether it is direct employees or paid content creators) relaying to their communities (since early access) that this was an intended change. You simply cannot allow people to spread information like this and then pull the rug out from under your community and not listen to our feedback.

Again, this is not hate towards Expansive Worlds, nor do I wish to be disrespectful in any manner but there needs to be clear communication between the people who represent you, and the player base who endlessly support your games.

Please listen to the feedback from all of the people, such as myself. Nobody expects you to fully revert these changes (as I do believe some of them may be good for the longevity of COTW!) but there needs to be some sort of middle ground to keep the devs and players happy. After all, both are very integral to Call Of The Wild!

Thank you for your consideration. Take care :)

I'd just like add in one other note, as I've just fully tried to reset-up the grind:

So, lets say that the spook/spawn radius wasn't a problem (which it is, but stay with me here) and players could put down tents 200m+ away and continue grinds how they work for pretty much every other G1 in the game. I'd be more than happy with that, and I know most players would be, too!

However. The problem with that is that you have chosen to have the Tahr feed/rest which is cool, but they feed/rest on the sides of hills, in deep brush, on VERY steep slopes, etc. It is not possible to put tents further back on MOST of the Tahr feed zones. I've tried all sorts of creative fixes, too - tents in random close-ish locations and having treestands closer to the herds, putting tents at the top of mountains and "tactical" sliding down the side, but I'm yet to find a way to tent my tahr zones that works consistently.

I understand EW is now in a tough spot. But it does beg the question: "If you intended for tent spook/spawn radius' to have stayed the same and not changed upon the release of Sunderpatan, and you intended for Tahr to only have feed/rest zones, and you intended for it to be a great one, meaning there HAS to be some sort of grinding aspect involved, how did you think it would work?"

I would really love to have help understanding that, because otherwise, it makes me wonder why you even added the Tahr as a Great One in the first place? You could've had some super cool rare furs, and people would be just as excited to more casually hunt them, but by making them a G1 you had to have known people would want to grind for them, as they have with literally every great one so far!

This is unrealistic and frankly confusing. I would love to get at least a comment from an EW dev or a representative to explain how this was intended to work.
Again, thank you for your consideration. The community thrives because of it's huge playerbase, but only if you listen to the players.

How extremly difficult it makes the tahr grind is really my old issue with this update. Personally I I'd like the solution to be giving us a lot more spots to set up tents in the mountains and also to add a caller to tahr. A caller would mean we could get them out of difficult spots where it's impossible to shoot but would still keep the grind challenging with the new updates.
