Grew up in Tennessee, thought I'd show y'all what hunting in my home state was like.
First up, a new shotgun. The 28ga over/under was extremely popular with quail hunters for its light recoil and light weight. Believe me when I say some people get obsessed with these things. Clas 1 birdshot, class 2-3 buckshot, class 3-5 slugs (they ain't that big)
Second, some folks hunt in massive soybean fields where 300 yards can be the closest shot you'll get. So the idea of the Beanfield rifle was born, a fairly light rifle with a long barrel and strong scope to reach out and bring down those whitetail bucks. I'd suggest a .25-06, it's been around ages and it would make a great 2-6 addition.
Last and my personal favorite, a good old .30-30. Not quite, this particular rifle is built around new high pressure ammunition and a longer 24 inch barrel allowing it to hit harder and farther away. 250m is perfectly fine for this model but the new ammo is better suited to bigger game. I'd consider it 3-8 (one of these bullets matches the weight of most .308 rounds, the other matches the .30-06)
