Why Tigers should never come to Medved (and why they should come to a second Russian map).

Since we got the Bengal Tiger on Sundarpatan, I’ve seen a lot of talk about adding Siberian Tigers to Medved-Taiga. There’s a number of reasons why this wouldn’t work.

1. Medved is set in the Yamal peninsula (it’s specifically stated in the missions), over 8700km away from the nearest population of Siberian Tigers in Primorskiy Krai. Even if Medved is based on all of Siberia, it’s based on NORTHERN Siberia, above the Arctic Circle, which is still thousands of kilometers away from the nearest Tiger population.

2. Siberian Tigers prefer Temperate Broadleaf and Mixed Forest habitats, as well as Taiga habitats SPECIFICALLY inhabited by the Korean Pine (Pinus koraiensis). This means that Medved is not anywhere near the correct habitat for Tigers.

And 3. Tigers, along with Wolves and Lynx, would basically ensure that no animal ever stays in its zone. The Wolves and Lynx already scare off enough animals as it is, let alone another, larger predator.

But, this does not mean I’m opposed to Siberian Tigers. @lusty dagger made a wonderful map idea for Far East Russia (specifically Primorskiy Krai) that would make for a wonderful Siberian Tiger map.

The problem with this is the unlikelines of us getting a second Russian map, especially since Medved itself isn't the Most famous map.
I will be ok with Siberian Tigers on Medved, but only if they add ONLY 4 of them, Roaming solitery the Northeast, Northwest, Southeast and Southwest regions, and without having drink zones.
It will be EXTREMELY unlikely to come across one of those four, but when it happens it will be truly unforgettable

But if they do plan on making 2nd Russian map, which I doubt, I would rather have them on the second one, yes!

We've been asking for Second Africa map since 2018 ... 6 years it hasn't happened yet, makes me doubt even more on 2nd Russian map ever happening

And regardless of the reason why, its very unlikely we will get a second Russian Reserve

Well a Far East Russia map could be the East Asia map that we’ve wanted for a long time. It has the same animals as Japan for the most part.

While Japan and the Russian Far East share Asiatic black bear, Ussuri Brown Bear, Sika Deer & Wild Boar, that is where it ends

Some of the potential big game species for a Russian Far East Reserve could come with
• Manchurian Sika Deer
• Siberian Roe Deer
• Long-tailed Goral
• Manchurian Wapiti
• If it also includes the Khabarovsk region, we could also get Snow Sheep & Reindeer

There’s also Raccoon Dogs that are found in Southeastern Russia and the Korean Peninsula that could be on either Japan or Primorskiy Krai

From a quick reading I did, the Raccoon Dogs found in the Russian Far East are the species that was introduced to Eastern Europe (I say species because the Japanese Tanuki is an entirely different species due to unique chromosomal, behavioral, and morphological characteristics absent in mainland raccoon dogs)

True, but in-game I doubt they’d change the models if they did add a Japan map, so I’d still count them as the same in a game sense.

I think Medved is in a pretty good place as far as species go. It's on the lower end for species count but I think that fits its desolate feeling.

It's also a nice balance of serene and dangerous, and I think tigers would tip that too far toward dangerous. If they ever fix the music and give brown bears a chance to go aggressive I think the balance would be perfect.

If any more species are added I think they should be on the smaller end like ptarmigan or sable.

Yeah Arctic Hare or Willow Ptarmigan would work very well on Medved.

Arctic Hare are basically exclusive to the Arctic Regions of Canada & Greenland funny enough

Mountain Hare would work though under the names “Tundra Hare” or “Variable Hare”

Russia is a MASSIVE country. Western Russia is a completely different place to Central or Eastern Russia.

I'd prefer siberian tigers on a different map but, seeing as that is unlikely, I don't care if they appear on Medved. The wolf home range would have to be reduced though.
As with Vurhonga and other maps, I'm not bothered by and don't think about Medved's exact location.

Kamchatka Peninsula, Amur River Valley, Caucasus Mountain Range. I can name at least 2 others that would make great Russian maps.

Wild boar, Goral, Musk Deer, tigers, leopards, roe deer, snow sheep, asiatic black bear, badger, wolverines, Mongolian Wolf are all distinct from what’s even remotely possible on Yukon buddy.

There's a lot of game Yukon doesn't have that's really popular in Alaska. Elk, black bear, Dall sheep, Stone sheep, several birds, wolverines, lynxes blacktail deer, even cougars in the southern areas

I see space for the following locations
• Peruvian Andes
• Morocco
• Namibia
• Either Uganda or Northern Tanzania (Between Vurhonga and Ethiopia)
• Maybe California (next to Layton & SRP)

And if the Parque Fernando Icon is moved further south
• Northern Argentina (Basically Revontouli but South American #1070132029905178645 )

Now for all those extra spots, well you and I both proposed fantastic reserve locations for the 2 empty spots in Canada

The space by the Caspian Sea can either be filled by a reserve set in the Caucasus Mountains or Central Asia ( #1253737251867721820

Then the space centred between Asia & Australia could be filled by either a reserve set in Malaysia or Papua New Guinea

I guess they could fit in both a Caucasus and Central Asian (Altai/Tian Shan Range) map. That way we can have both Tur and Saiga, 2 very cool animals that I want.

Well Bengal Tigers definitely don’t, but a lot of people were wanting Siberian Tigers on Medved Taiga, which would be a terrible map for them.

I agree with this post for the sake it doesn't make sense to add them on Medved. And as much as I loath to say it bc I love this map alot they really need to fix the bugs causing the animals to clip glitch in & on the terrain. 😞

Snow Leopards I could see on a map set in somewhere like the Altai or Dzidniskiy mountains, but those are far southern Russia, around Lake Baikal. They’re far from where Medved is set.

This is the approximate range of the Siberian Tiger.

And in the thicker circle is where Medved is approximately set. There’s literally no reason for having a Tiger on Medved. It’s like putting an Elephant in Scotland.

They never should’ve been added to the map in the first place, they’re thousands of kilometers away from where they should be. Vurhonga is just a massive crapshoot of animals in the wrong places.

Yes, exactly, if he put the Siberian tiger or the Amur leopard on Medved Taiga, even though it is thousands of kilometers from here. In addition, there are quite a few interesting species on the side where they are found, which could make a new map with snow like the one that will be released interesting.

Even then, I personally wouldn’t want tigers on a Amur map because not every map needs crazy endangered species, it makes it less special.

Yes, it is better to target another Asian country that can bring new species that are not too endangered but which are possibly huntable. Since we already have Russia, we might as well do another country even if Russia is a big country.

If we get an Amur map I would want them, but maybe have 4 - 8 on the whole map, make them similar to Snow Leopards in rarity.

I also want to mention I don’t particularly enjoy how they took priority of non huntables over the many huntables on Sundarpatan. If given the chance, I’d swap barasignha and blackbuck out for sambar and axis deer in a heartbeat

The protected species of Sundarpatan is both its biggest strength and one of it biggest weaknesses in my opinion

Eh, Barasingha are good, but swap out Blackbuck for Axis for sure. Sundar only has 13 species to begin with, it wouldn’t hurt to bring in Sambar, Wild Boar (with a remodel of course), and Bar-Headed Geese.

Agreed. There’s way too many of them on the map, they shouldn’t be incredibly common, but they shouldn’t be particularly rare either. Nilgai are a species that should’ve been more widespread in Terai over Barasingha imo.

If they will give us the second Russian map we begin to boil over. Because the tiger only and copy-paste and blah blah. If UH summer demo will be good the next map will be Africa 2.0. Otherwise almost all non grinders will run away.
