First, the option to simply buy the 4-8 ammo in the store still exists so this only adds the mechanic for people who want to take part.
In the store there's an option to buy Primed Brass, priced between the normal polymer and soft point ammo prices
You selected the primed brass in your storage and then select a bullet weight
120 grain bullet: covers class 3 through 5
140 grain bullet: covers 4 through 6
160 grain bullet: covers 6 through 8
Once the bullet weight is selected, you choose either Soft Point or Polymer Tipped along the same lines as the normal ammo.
This would add an extra layer of customization and utility to every weapon in the game and make sure everyone could balance their weapons the way they like most without making it a problem for others.
I'd love to see this paired with the ability to change the caliber of a given weapon by paying 10-15k of in game currency
