Welcome to Malaysia my friend, I can see this is not your first time hunting in an area with dense foliage and dangerous animals together. I hope your ready to experiance all that this reserve has to offer, especially with the special permits we secured for you to hunt species that can't be hunted elsewhere in Malaysia let alone the world, as you may find yourself stalking Serow and Sun Bear in the mountains of the Peininsula Region or playing a game of cat and mouse with a Bornean Clouded Leopard on the Islands, but be careful while hunting in the mangroves as Saltwater Crocodiles are not the only large predatory reptile to call this reserve home and should you make a mistake of sleeping on the forest floor the Reticulated Python will make sure its the last one you make. Use the traditional Dayak Blowpipe or its modern day equivalent to knock small game from tree branches and utilize the pistol calibre carbines to deal with marauding pigs and monkeys in the ricefields, as you can tell there is many hunting opportunities here for you to enjoy.

Based on

  • Peninsular Malaysia
  • Sarawak & Sabah (Borneo Island)

New Features

  • Tree Dwellers: This reserve will introduce animals that live in trees and as a result there will Trees that can support these animals throughout the reserve and are signified by claw marks and half-eaten fruit at the bottom, which will help you figure out what is up in the branches above the forest floor
  • 5 New Weapons including a pair of Blowpipes, the 12 Gauge Revolving Shotgun, the 357 Magnum Lever-action and the 9mm Semi-automatic Carbine
  • Several rare species on the reserve such as clouded leopard, false gharial, serow, sun bear & great argus
#

The Reserve

  • It is split into 2 main regions: The Peninsula and the Island (Placeholder names)
  • The Peninsula is a long, mountainous stretch of land dominated by jungles, though these jungles have been cut down for rubber and oil palm plantations. One can also find rice paddies in the hills and mangrove swamps along the coast. This area is the home of the Mainland Serow and the Banded Pig, though one can still also find sun bears, great argus, sambar and many small game species, including a few found exclusively here like the Dusky Leaf Monkey and Southern Red Muntjac.
  • The Island is a land that is still somewhat wild, though it is suffering from deforestation and illegal mining. The Sunda Clouded Leopards are the largest mammalian predators here, though they are still smaller then the local pythons and crocodiles. The dense rainforest and mosquito infested peat swamps hold all manner of species including the local waterfowl, Bearded Pigs and massive water buffalo
  • Travel between the two locations is done the same way you cross the river in Cuatro Colinas
#

There is also a good number of Big Game species with some being rarer then others, and the list includes

Returning Species

  • Sambar Deer
  • Water Buffalo
  • Saltwater Crocodile

Big Game Species

  • False Gharial - Class 7 (Rare, Island)
  • Malayan Tapir - Class 7 (Rare, Peninsula)
  • Sun Bear - Class 5 (Rare, Island and Peninsula)
  • Mainland Serow - Class 4 or 5 (Rare, Peninsula)
  • Bornean Beared Pig - Class 5 (Island)
  • Sunda Clouded Leopard - Class 4 (Rare, Island)
  • Banded Pig - Class 3 (Peninsula)
  • Reticulated Python - Class 2
#

With the large amount of Small Game Species here, I had to divide then by Class with the Class 2 Species Including

  • Southern Red Muntjac (Just a renamed Northern Red) (Peninsula)
  • Bornean Yellow Muntjac (Island)
  • Long-tailed Macaque
  • Southern Pig-tailed Macaque
  • Malayan Porcupine
  • Asian Water Monitor
  • Malayan Civet
#

And for Class 1 things get a bit more interesting with several species preferring to stay off the ground in the trees. The Class 1 species that are not birds (nor bats) include

  • Brush-tailed Porcupine
  • Lesser Mouse Deer
  • Greater Mouse Deer
  • Asian Palm Civet
  • Banded Palm Civet
  • Silvered Leaf Monkey (Island)
  • Dusky Leaf Monkey (Peninsula)
  • Pale Giant Squirrel
  • King Cobra (☠️ )
#

Then we have the winged game and yes, you can legally hunt flying foxes some countries
Winged Game

  • Great Argus (Rare)
  • Malayan Flying Fox (Peninsula)
  • Island Flying Fox (Island)
  • Red Junglefowl
  • Blue-breasted Quail
  • Emerald Dove

Holy crap Moosedragon how do you manage to make so many great map ideas in such a short time span?

I type it all up elsewhere on my computer then just copy and paste it

And speaking of the good old Copy and Paste Method I forgot to include weapons

New Weapons: From some more traditional weapons to short-ranged firearms, this reserve will come with 6 separate weapons

  • The Dayak Blowpipe: A weapon utilized by the native Dayak people of Borneo, while it has been used to bring down large game in the past they did so using poisons, fortunately for you its still capable of bringing down small game animals like squirrels, monkeys and lizards from the tree tops
  • Traditional Darts: Class 1 to 3
  • Effective Range: 45 Meters
  • The Cobrastrike Blowgun: A more modern take on the blowgun, the razor darts they come with are capable of bringing down small wild pigs and feral goats
  • 625-grain Razor Darts: Class 1-4
  • Effective Range: 40 Meters
  • The 12 Gauge Revolving Shotgun: A powerful 5-round shotgun, it is sure to get the job done on waterfowl, deer and wild pigs weather it is in the Siberian Taiga, the mountains of New Zealand or the the Malaysian Jungles.
  • Based on the MTs255 Revolving Shotgun
  • 357 Lever-action Rifle: A dependable ranch rifle, it is capable of bring down everything from foxes to wild boar with relative ease
  • Based on the Henry Big Boy
  • 9mm Semi-auto Rifle: A fast firing rifle typically seen used to deal with varmints on the farm, it has a fair bit of use on reserves with a lot of animals like javelina, coyote, muntjac deer, macaques and bobcats
  • 9mm: Class 2 to 4
  • Based on the Henry Homesteader
#

Recommended Weapons to bring with you on the Reserve (My Personal Opinion)

  • 454 Revolver: The foliage on this map will mean a powerful short-ranged weapon
  • 45 Calibre Airgun: I think this would be a fun map to use the airgun on with the large number of Class 2 to 4 Species on it
  • 30-30 Lever-action: Weather your shooting a monkey out of a tree or a trophy serow, this will be a viable rifle
  • 12 Gauge Shotgun: You will end up chewing through buckshot and birdshot like candy on this map
  • 22 Hornet: This will save you the trouble of figuring out weather a tree top monkey is a Class 1 Leaf Monkey or Class 2 Macaque

Eyyy glad to see a map based on my home country, and a more updated concept of my Borneo map which I should go back and add new species ever since Sundarpatan dropped the ball on what can be hunted

Why I didn't include tigers, tapirs or rhinos~~

  • Malayan Tapir: I'm not sure why I excluded them, its population is no different from the False Gharial, I may add them to the list~~
  • Sumatran Rhinoceros: Their population is too low and could likely go extinct before the end of the century
  • Malayan Tiger: Their population was too low for me to include (Less then 120 mature individuals)
digital wren
#

I have decided to include the Malayan Tapir as a Class 7 species exclusive to the Peninsula Area of the reserve, and I chose Class 7 due to them being the largest living tapir species (Back in the Ice Age there was the 1400 pound Giant Tapir (Tapirus augustus) of China, Vietnam and Laos but they are extinct). I am still standing firm with my decision to not include tigers and rhinos

I may have to come up with some mission ideas for this reserve at some point

brave ember
#

40 species is crazy

#

would take them like 4 years 😭 and be around 30 dollars

digital wren
#

If they did make a Malaysian Reserve they would most likely have no more then 20 species since most of the animals that can be hunted there are Class 1 & 2 species (sort of like a Tropical NEM or Rev with crocodiles and buffalo)

brave ember
#

yeah

digital wren
#

I also broke down the potential species list and I included: 11 Big Game Species, 3 of which are returning species, 7 Class 2 Species, 9 Class 1 Mammals & Reptiles and 13 Bird Species

bump @digital wren where are the missions 😭 and maybe add another dart type for the blowguns, possibly something for 4-6

digital wren
# vital vapor bump <@550942467831234571> where are the missions 😭 and maybe add another dart...

Some Mission Ideas for the reserve

Turtle Protection: Several endangered sea turtle species nest on beaches located across the reserve and in order to keep their eggs safe we do cull some known egg thieves. There are 3 locations across the reserve.

  • Location 1: Cull 25 Bearded Pigs & 25 Long-tailed Macaques
  • Location 2: Cull 25 Long-tailed Macaques and 25 Water Monitors
  • Location 3: Cull 30 Banded Pigs and 30 Long-tailed Macaques

Borneo Deathblow: The Dayak people are well known for their use of blowpipes for hunting various species in the jungles, lets see if you can take some game down with a blowpipe (I updated the primitive Blowpipe to cover Classes 1 to 3 and the modern blowpipe to cover Classes 1 to 4, but due to their short range it will still be a challenge)

  • This Mission takes place on the Island Region of the Reserve which is based on Borneo
  • All Animals must be a Silver Medal or Better
  • Take 2 Yellow Muntjac
  • Take 2 Long-tailed Macaque
  • Take 2 Pig-tailed Macaque
  • Take 2 Malayan Civet
  • Take 2 Brush-tailed Porcupine
  • Take 2 Silvered Leaf Monkey
  • Take 4 Pale Giant Squirrel
  • Take 4 Island Flying Foxes
  • Take 4 Cotton Pygmy Goose
  • Take 4 Red Junglefowl

Malayan Big Game Slam: Due to the special status of this reserve, many species that can't be hunted elsewhere in all of Southeast Asia can be hunted here, so I am giving you a challenge to see if you can bag a representive speciemen of each.

  • All must be a Gold Medal or Better
  • Hunt 1 Water Buffalo
  • Hunt 1 Saltwater Crocodile
  • Hunt 1 Malayan Tapir
  • Hunt 1 False Gharial
  • Hunt 1 Sambar Deer
  • Hunt 1 Sun Bear
  • Hunt 1 Bearded Pig
  • Hunt 1 Mainland Serow
  • Hunt 1 Sunda Clouded Leopard

So for an in game map, would it be sort of split between the mainland side of Malaysia and the Bornean side with a channel running through the middle of the map or would it be one big map that doesn’t pay attention to the separation in species distribution?

Malaysias Wildlife is so underrated i love it

digital wren
#

I just realized I need to draw a map for this reserve concept considering that this reserve is basically a condensed version of Malaysia with species exclusive to the "Peninsula" (Malay Peninsula) and the "Island" (Borneo (Sarawak & Sabah))

#

Though considering that there is a Borneo Reserve ( #1140246673063428096 ) I could make this set on Peninsular Malaysia

digital wren
#

To reflect the change to make this reserve more focused on the peninsula here is the map

I also said I would be splitting the species list into Essential & Non-Essential so here is the Essential Species List. While a lot of big game species are present it is very much focused on small game

  • Water Buffalo (Returning)
  • Saltwater Crocodile (Returning)
  • Sambar Deer (Returning)
  • Malayan Tapir - Class 7 (Rare)
  • Mainland Serow - Class 4 or 5
  • Bearded Pig - Class 5
  • Clouded Leopard - Class 4 (Rare)
  • Reticulated Python - Class 2
  • Southern Red Muntjac (Renamed Northern Red Muntjac)
  • Long-tailed Macaque - Class 2
  • Malayan Porcupine - Class 2
  • Asian Water Monitor - Class 1 or 2
  • Greater Mouse Deer - Class 1
  • Asian Palm Civet
  • Dusky Leaf Monkey
  • Pale Giant Squirrel
  • Red Junglefowl
  • Great Argus
  • Cotton Pygmy Goose
  • Wandering Whistling Duck
digital wren
# digital wren To reflect the change to make this reserve more focused on the peninsula here is...

Before I get around to doing the non-essential species list I should talk about the map

The agricultural area in the middle of the map would be the main area where animals like macaque, muntjac, bearded pig and water buffalo will mainly occur

The central river and the two coastal areas would be the primary home of the saltwater crocodile. The central river and smaller lakes would also be home to waterfowl

The mountainous areas of the map would be the main areas to hunt Serow.

Clouded Leopard and Malayan Tapir, while rare, can be encountered (and hunted) in both the forested parts of the mountains and in the old-growth jungle (dark green), you might also find trophy Sambar Deer and Great Argus Pheasant

If you keep your eyes up to the tree branches you might find animals like monkey, palm civet and giant squirrel
