The new Gandhare Rifle is a very special rifle compared to most of the other 4-8 ranged rifles. But there is no unique selling point in using this gun. To make it more useful ammo range should be raised to 4-9. This improved range would fit way better to the Sundarpatan map. At the moment there are only 5 of 13 animals in range for this rifle. This gun is really good for hunting big game at close range so it would be perfect to hunt the aggressive and attacking tier 9 animals on this map. It would fit way better in the actual game meta than a semiautomatic .300 which is kind of OP.
#Gandhare Rifle: Upgrading ammo range to level 4-9

I think 5 -9 might be better
5-9 makes more sense given the stats of the ammo but then there's the same issue of it only working on 5 animals in Sunderpatan. 4-9 would be better in terms of gameplay.
I think this rifle is about where it should be, IRL it has the velocity of a .22LR and half the energy of a .300WM. Maybe its time for a real big game rifle DLC with a H&H or a .416.
That was not my point. This gun should not be balanced as a IRL gun but should fit in the game. And I think that this gun is worse than e.g. the .50cal muzzle loaders. But the muzzle loaders got scopes what makes them way more flexible than the Gandhare. This gun is crap when you use it on the map it belongs to.
I support this
Not a fan of the new rifle at all can't hit anything with it and I was as close as 80yrds missed every single time so until if it can be scooped I am likely not going to keep it in my loadout at all
If you want to show that the Gandhare is good enough to be a Class 9 rifle, you should should show something from more than 10 yards away. Most weapons are good from point blank.
Sorry, not my Pic, that's from flinter's stream. Don't remember which one. But getting ss off Playstation is annoying AF or I'd have more
Well, feel free to use mine if you want. I don't mind going into the app and saving to my phone. Takes an extra minute but it's whatever. Plus, you can see the bullet almost hit the second lung from over 155m. I'd love to be able to use it on Yak.
Couldn't agree more for increasing the ethical range to include class 9. Putting all the arguments about real life ammo aside (which honestly are insane if you look at half the other calibres and their ethical ranges) the main reason it should be increased is that it's not fun with its current range.
Gameplay perspective: you do quests, you unlock the weapon. You naturally look to use the weapon you just unlocked. Turns out you can't for the majority of the animals on the map. That's not fun. Sundarpatan has a unique position as having the most class 9 animals of any map. Having the weapon themed to that map as incapable of hunting them is an insanely bad piece of game design.
Have you tried the rifle perk that gives zoom when you dont use a scope? That can help
@calm glacier thanks I saw it but never added points to it because didn't really know what it was for
It being 4-8 was a miss to begin with. We have soooo many 4-8 already.
I was point blank crouched it didn't see me and still somehow completely missed the shot I don't think I am trying anymore
Yes that gun is honestly powerful enough to kill water buffalo, bison ect. It does it pretty quickly to.... a class 4-9 or 5-9 would be a nice change for it
the gun definitely need to be upgraded to class 9. i went hunting banteng on Emerald coast with it to just clear out some spawns to see if i can get my friend a diamond and it honestly does a better job of putting them down with a single bullet than the 300 mag does. double lungs them easily but it's unethical/class 8 weapon is so disappointing
Or move banteng and bison down to class 8.
Nah, make the Gandhare Rifle a Class 9 weapon, it clearly works on larger animals like Water Buffalo and I wouldn't be surprised if it can produce similar results on Cape Buffalo and Wild Yak
Tbh I couldn't see Bison being class 8 and big cats being 9. Weight and amount of meat gotta play a role here. I think most animals are misplaced in the class system tbh tho
It’s not always about weight. Bison aren’t tough animals. We easily wiped them out to the point where we had to breed the with cows, and that was done with .45-70’s and black powder, nowadays they are killed with .308’s, .30-06, and mostly .300WM, they are nowhere near the toughness of The Widowmaker or lions.
Bison could easily be class 8 with no changes, moose need their health reduced because they're walking concrete blocks
Definitely. Moose are tough… but they aren’t that tough.
I'm biased because one shrugged off a .30-06 round last night and I'm still upset
I also think more mid-big bore calibers could help with this issue.
Like .350 size? Wouldn't mind a .35 Whelan or .350 mag. There's a nice one in WotH
Yes, both of those calibers don’t get enough spotlight in hunting games despite being great options!
Have you seen the .360 buckhammer cartridge? Straight wall .35 caliber with a pretty good reputation from what I've heard. Hope It'll bring more attention to .35s in general
I’ve heard about it, would be interesting to see someone’s take on it.
I haven't gotten to try it personally but a friend of mine in Kentucky swears it's the best gun he's ever owned. Uses it for deer, hogs, and black bear and he says it's a rock solid little rifle
I can vouch that it is an effective cartridge in regard to the inner workings for white-tail.
Most noticeable is that it goes in like expected but exits with a noticeably larger exit diameter.
Plenty of shock, always results in substantial lung and often arterial shredding.
Great for not having to track especially in hill country, definitely an ethical cartridge.
That makes me want one of my own, my entire property is hills
I would love a stretch with some decent streams and ponds, perhaps a thick pine tree forest to still hunt bedding areas with white oaks sprinkled everywhere along and between ridges and saddles. 👌
Aside from the white oaks, sounds like my place. Except my place is really steep, there's only mule deer here, and I have to share them with bears, cougars, wolves and coyotes
Going off the 45-70 comparison made by ayoliam further down from your reply. Which is accurate irl, they're pretty similar in velocity and joules just not equal in effective range. It'd still be a 4-9 since thats what the 45-70 is in game. Also here's 4 screenshots of their effective ranges and bullet information found online according to google ai to further prove to the devs they just need to fix its classing.
P.s. i also watched a few different videos and read some articles but the google ai system just does a better job getting what matters into 1 screenshot. Cant be bothered to link everything when a person could just google questions like i did.
Heres a link to a penetration test for the ammunition .577/450 out of the martini henry as well
Looks like the Gandhare is being bumped to Class 9 (I've been watching a few of those early access videos for the new scopes and the Gandhare Rifle change was what stood out to me)
