#Central Asia (2.0) - The land of Saiga Antelope & Marco Polo Sheep (Based on several countries)

This was based on a statement I made on #1194806575567745084 but essentially this would encompass the 4 Central Asian Countries that allow huntig and with Sundarpatan having Bengal Tigers, I figured a few species could be added to this reserve.
Weather you are picking out a fine Marco Polo ram in the mountains, stalking Bactrian Red Deer in the riparian woodlands, calling a Wapiti into bow range or watching as the Saiga move across the steppes, this reserve will be a hunters paradise in the land of steppes and mountains

#

To Start with, this Central Asian Reserve will be split into 4 Main Regions (And each image represents each region listed in order)

  • The first region would be called Bayanaul and is primarily based on Northern Kazakhstan. It is defined by the forest steppes, mountains and grassy steppe plains and is where you can find Wapiti grazing in the lowlands and Mid-Asian Ibex climbing the mountain peaks. If a hunter has a keen eye they may see Great Bustards making booming sounds while displaying and Karaganda Argali climbing through the mountains of this regions (pic 1)
  • The second region would retain the name of my first Central Asian Reserve: #1119449859297132564 It would be mainly based on Tajikistan and Uzbekistan and is defined arid landscape consisting of sandy deserts, dry windy steppes and windswept mountains with rivers cutting through. Herds of Goitered Gazelles and small bands of Saiga live in the area while Urial Sheep move between the high altitude and low altitude areas and Bactrian Red Deer feed in the riparian woodlands. Now should you visit the mountains you may see Bukharan Markhor and the regions local Argali: Severtzov Argali. (pic 2)
  • Now the Great Steppes is the third region is where you will want to go if you wish to see the large herds of Saiga here, this is a result of their excellant recovery thanks to government efforts, and you have been given special permission to hunt them. The large lakes in the area also attract waterfowl species such as bar-headed goose, ruddy shelduck, northern shoveler and tufted duck. (Pic 3)
  • The fourth region of the reserve is Kūhho, a mountainous region that dominated the southeastern quarter of the reserve, this is where you will find trophy ibex and wapit alongside 2 of the top species here: Bukharan Markhor and Marco Polo Sheep, but I hope your ready for some long range shooting. You will also find the rare snow leopard, a big cat that recovered well and is now prowling the mountains in search of prey (Pic 4)
#

Now for returning species there is a few such as

  • Snow Leopard (Kūhho Region Exclusive) - They will still be rather rare
  • Ring-necked Pheasant (Karakul Valley & the Great Steppe)
  • Tufted Duck
  • Black Grouse (Bayanaul Exclusive)
  • Eurasian Lynx (Bayanaul Exclusive)
  • Wild Boar

There is also a variant of the Wild Yak simply called the Feral Yaks. They are mostly in the mountainous Kūhho region with some in Bayanaul & Karakul and what sets them apart from their undomesticated kin roaming Sundarpatan is the range of fur colour variation that they have, otherwise they are simply the same (For gameplay purposes)

As far as Potentially New Big Game Species Go, there are a few I think would fit well and this list includes

  • Tian Shan Wapiti (Kūhho, Bayanaul) - Class 7
  • Himalayan Brown Bear (Kūhho, rare in Karakul & Great Steppe) - Class 7
  • Onager/Asiatic Wild Ass (Karakul Valley, Great Steppe) - Class 6 or 7
  • Bactrian Red Deer (Karakul Valley, Great Steppe) - Class 6
  • Marco Polo Sheep (Kūhho) - Class 6

  • Mid-Asian Ibex (Kūhho, Karakul, Bayanaul) - Class 5
  • Urial Sheep (Karakul, Kūhho, southern edge of Great Steppe) - Class 4
  • There are 3 subspecies in the area but they look similar enough to not bother with it, those are the: Transcaspian, Afghan & Bukharan (seen in image)
  • Saiga Antelope (Great Steppe, Karakul, Bayanaul) - Class 3
  • Goitered Gazelle (Karakul, Great Steppe) - Class 3
  • Siberian Roe Deer (Great Steppe, Bayanaul, rare in Kūhho) Class 3

There is a few subspecies: Tian Shan, Altai, Manchurian, Alashan (Northern China) and the Shou (Also known as Tibetan Red Deer), but only the first 3 can be hunted in real life since they are not restricted to living in China

As far as Bird species go, this reserve caters more to the upland hunter with everything from black grouse, pheasant and chukar to sandgrouse, snowcock and 3 species of Bustards but those wishing they saw bar-heads and shovelers in Nepal can find them here, and as for the list

  • Bar-headed Goose
  • Ruddy Shelduck
  • Northern Shoveler
  • Garganey
  • Black-bellied Sandgrouse (Great Steppe, Karakul)
  • Pallas's Sandgrouse (Great Steppe, Kūhho)
  • Macqueen's Bustard (Karakul Valley, Great Steppe)
  • Great Bustard (Great Steppe, Bayanaul)
  • Little Bustard (Great Steppe, Bayanaul, Karakul)
  • Most common bustard species on the map
  • Himalayan Snowcock (Kūhho)
  • Chukar (Kūhho, Karakul, Great Steppe)

As far as endangered and protected species go: The Onager was one I did not think I would add, but I guess for story purposes it could be that the wild ass population on this reserve recovered well enough to allow limited hunting, which would also be the explaination for Snow Leopard, Bactrian Deer, Himalayan Brown Bear and most importantly: Saiga Antelope

Ok so I now read the entire species list and omg I would love this map so much it's insane definitely a great animal roster especially if we got some proper mountain hunting!

Funny enough this map if it came out with both Tian Shan Wapiti and Bactrian Deer, it would be the only map to have both an elk and a red deer on it despite ignoring the fact that Central Asian Red Deer are a seperate species (Cervus hanglu)

As far as backfilling potential with this map, I could see Himalayan Snowcock and Bar-headed Goose going to Sundarpatan for sure

A Couple Mission Ideas
Meat for the Masses: People always need good protein and with the herds having recovered it wouldn't be a bad idea to help out the local people, it was with their help that we have healthy herds of antelope, deer and mountain game

  • Hunt 50 Saiga
  • Hunt 50 Wild Boar
  • Hunt 20 Tian Shan Wapiti
  • Hunt 25 Mid-Asian Ibex
  • All must be done with a Rifle

Argali Slam: The Argali are the main draw that brings in many hunters from around the world. Lets see if you can bag the local subspecies using different methods and weapons

  • Hunt a Karaganda Argali with a bow or crossbow
  • Hunt a Marco Polo Sheep with a rifle from over 250 meters
  • Hunt a Severtzov's Argali with a shotgun from over 100 meters
  • All must be Males
  • All must score a Gold or Higher

Wolf Cull: The wolf population is normally large but lately they have been getting out of hand. While this does mean local prey populations are large enough to support this many wolves, it also means that other wolves are being pushed out of prime hunting grounds which leads to them predating on livestock. See if maybe you can knock their numbers down a bit

  • Cull 50 Steppe Wolves in Kūhho
  • Cull 75 Steppe Wolves in Bayanaul
  • Cull 75 Steppe Wolves in Karakul Valley
  • Cull 100 Steppe Wolves on the Great Steppe
#

Bustard Hunting: Normally bustards are hunted with falcons, but they can be hunted with shotguns, rifles and bows, so I would like to pose a challenge to you

  • Hunt 5 Little Bustards with a Bow
  • Hunt 5 Great Bustards with a Rifle
  • Hunt 5 MacQueen's Bustards with a Shotgun

For an archery focused mission I present

Steppe Archer: The steppes of Central Asia have a long tradition of archery and as a result a long tradition of bow-hunting. While you do not have a horse nor the skills needed to hunt from horseback, I know of your reputation as a skilled hunter and believe that this should be a suitable challenge

  • Only Compound Bows, Longbows and Recurve Bows can be used (No Crossbows)
  • All animals must be a Gold Medal or better
  • Hunt 1 Tian Shan Wapiti in Bayanaul
  • Hunt 1 Karaganda Argali in Bayanaul
  • Hunt 1 Himalayan Brown Bear in Bayanaul
  • Hunt 1 Onager in the Great Steppe
  • Hunt 1 Saiga in the Great Steppe
  • Hunt 1 Steppe Wolf in the Great Steppe
  • Hunt 1 Marco Polo Sheep in Kūhho
  • Hunt 1 Feral Yak in Kūhho
  • Hunt 1 Bukharan Markhor in Kūhho
  • Hunt 1 Bactrian Red Deer in Karakul Valley
  • Hunt 1 Goitered Gazelle in Karakul Valley
  • Hunt 1 Wild Boar in Karakul Valley

Another mission idea, this time concerning the gazelles and saiga antelope

Agile Antelope: This mission is a series of challenges surrounding the goitered gazelle and saiga antelope

  • Hunt 1 Goitered Gazelle with a bow or crossbow
  • Hunt 1 Goitered Gazelle with a handgun from over 70 meters away
  • Hunt 1 Goitered Gazelle with a shotgun
  • Hunt 1 Goitered Gazelle with a rifle from over 250 meters away
  • Hunt 1 Saiga Antelope with a bow or crossbow from over 60 meters away
  • Hunt 1 Saiga Antelope with a handgun from over 70 meters away
  • Hunt 1 Saiga Antelope with a Shotgun
  • Hunt 1 Saiga Antelope with an unscoped rifle from over 150 meters away
  • All animals must be silver medal or better

As far as weapons go what weapons would people like to see come with this reserve. For me weapons like the SKS Rifle, which could serve as a semi-automatic equivalent to the Bolt-action 243 or the 30-30

The first weapon for this reserve: The SKS Rifle (I could have easily included this on #1070045518002147458 due to it being a rather common rifle in Canada)

Calibre: 7.62x39mm
Weapon Class: Class 2 to 6
Ammo Types: Soft-points
Zeroing Range: 75, 150 & 250 meters
Can either be purchased or obtained through a mission

For some potential Great Ones: Argali, Elk/Wapiti and Wild Boar are all good contenders, and for the Great One Elk, it could be done in a way that ensures not only the Tian Shan Wapiti but also Roosevelt's Elk and Rocky Mountain Elk can be Great Ones

From what I've read this would be a mixture between Revontuli and it's birds, Yukon and it's big game, and Silver Ridge with it's difficult to traverse terrain and it's elusive Goats and I'm all here for ithappyCat

Yeah, I think it's high time EW made a really good map that's (relatively at best) not that buggy (Like MedVed and Yukon). Something with this combination of species and animal classes, as well as a new type of terrain that we haven't really seen before would be awesome (Flatlands and Steppes). Along with elusive game that is actually CATERED to the specific terain would be awesome. Sheep and Argali fleeing out of sight in seconds on a rocky mountain slope or into a forest that meets with a steppe would be amazing, and would provide a real challenge. An integrated trail system could be implemented to make navigating a bit easier as well.

Weapon #2: Baikal MP-18MN Single-shot Rifle

  • Calibre: 9.3x74R
  • Weapon Class: Class 5 to 9
  • Ammo: Soft-points & Polymer Tips
  • Zeroing: 75, 150 & 300 meters
  • Can be obtained from the shop

How much do marco polo sheep and argali weigh?

sonic warren
# coral forge How much do marco polo sheep and argali weigh?

The Severtzov Argali is the smallest of the 3 and based on what I read they are no heavier then 140 pounds which is no bigger then the Mouflon. The Marco Polo Argali is around the 300 pound range and so is the Karaganda Argali (It is said to be similar in size to the Tian Shan). While I didn't include the Altai Argali (They are hunted in Mongolia, that is why), they are the heaviest Argali with a maximum weight estimate of 450 pounds

A rough draft of the map I have in mind for this reserve

sharp falcon
#

From what I have seen, you are inspired by Tajikistan. If you want there we find a subspecies of wild boar which is the sus Scrifa Attila, it is known for having beautiful specimens. The attila is the very very very large wild boar that you can see in the photo. Maybe this would be a good species to add and a way to have an impressive semi-unique. What do you think?

#

On the other hand, the animals chosen otherwise are just sublime, I love them and I wonder why they didn't do that sooner.

sonic warren
sharp falcon
#

Ok I can't find if we can see it in other countries, it's just to avoid repeating the wild boar and have an interesting subspecies but after that it doesn't matter.
