Despite hunting being banned in China in real life, EW has taken risks with adding species like the Bengal Tiger and Snow Leopard. This concept relies on them creating a storyline/timeline shifting so that hunting would be allowed in China. This map is based in Qinling, or the Qin Mountains of central China. Where the forested peaks hide very unique and amazing hunting opportunities. I feel like this map would be laid out similarly to Sunderpatan, with very high mountain peaks, thick lowlands, and highland forests.

Species (* indicates returning):
Class 8- Tibetan Blue Bear
Class 7- Asian Black Bear
Class 6- Golden Takin
Class 6- Thorold’s Deer
Class 6- Kansu Red Deer
Class 5- Tibetan Argali
Class 5- Himalayan Wolf
Class 4- Blue Sheep*
Class 4- Wild Boar*
Class 4- Mainland Serow
Class 4- Snow Leopard*
Class 3- Goitered Gazelle
Class 3- Chinese Goral
Class 3- Tufted Deer
Class 2- Goa
Class 2- Asian Golden Cat
Class 2- Clouded Leopard
Class 2- Red Panda
Class 1- Golden Pheasant
Class 1- Temminck’s Tragopan
Class 1- Chinese Monal
Class 1- Koklass Pheasant
Class 1- Reeve’s Pheasant
Class 1- Brown-Eared Pheasant
Class 1- Tolai Hare
Class 1- Yellow-Throated Marten

Possible Species:
Class 5- Giant Panda/Qinling Panda
Class 5- Leopard
Class 3- Eurasian Lynx*
Class 2- Tibetan Fox*

Pandas and Leopards are very unlikely to be huntable in the game but could possibly be part of the environment.

Let me know what you think!!

The more ā€œhigh-altitudeā€ areas of China makes sense for a Chinese reserve

Because before the Hunting Ban in the early 2000s most of the visiting hunters went to Western and Central China alongside Manchuria

Though I should point out that this is way to far west for Amur Leopards to show up

#

Though on the flipside Snow Leopard would be a better fit then either the Amur or Indochinese Leopards given that China has the largest population of Snow Leopard (followed by Mongolia)

But I highly doubt Giant Pandas would ever be added as a huntable species

I considered snow leopards but I was unsure of how far eastward their range went, I may add them to possible species, and there is known segmented leopard populations in this region of china, but it isn’t known which subspecies these leopards belong to. With that being said the population is so small that it doesn’t really make sense to add them as a huntable species anyway. Also Qinling is known for the brown panda subspecies, and even if they aren’t huntable I feel like some of them on the map
would make it feel complete.

If Pandas do get added

They would have to be considered ā€œInvalid Targetsā€

As for leopard subspecies, I did read that apparently it was the Indochinese Leopards that lived in that part of China but even I’m not 100% sure

There was (?) a subspecies under the trinomial name Panthera pardus japonensis aka the North Chinese Leopard but apparently it gets lumped with either Amur Leopards or Indochinese Leopards

Starting with the predators, this map features the rare brown bear subspecies, the Himalayan Blue Bear, which has unique fur markings, a new species, the Asian Black Bear, the Himalayan Wolf subspecies, the elusive Clouded Leopard and Asian Golden Cat, and the Yellow-Throated Marten

The new big game species include the incredibly striking Golden Takin, Thorold’s or White-Lipped Deer, Gansu Red Deer, which is actually an elk subspecies, the first argali subspecies to be added, the Tibetan Argali, the Mainland Serow, Goitered Gazelle, Chinese Goral, Tufted Deer, another deer with fangs, and finally the tiny Goa.

#

Lastly for the small game I thought three of the most beautiful pheasant species in the world would make great additions to this map, the Golden Pheasant, Temminck’s Tragopan, and the Chinese Monal

I wanted to add a little more small game to this map, to add a lot of life to the lowland areas, and to demonstrate the variety of birds in China, so I added the Reeve’s Pheasant, Koklass Pheasant, and Brown-Eared Pheasant, as well as the Tolai Hare and iconic Red Panda, which I debated including or not. Lmk what you think!

Besides pandas i deeply enjoy this suggestion and would like playing it

that is a good suggestion i just think that china has more of a variety of species than bhutan, but if the devs didn’t want to use china then bhutan would be a great option

True but I also think they could put a map in a country with no hunting, even if they don’t mention the country by name

You can hunt in China just need the right paperwork

The Chinese Government does NOT want you to have guns in their country

Notice how despite how many endangered species we get the locations remain legal?

I’d honestly rather they work on Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia 2-3.0, Japan if they want Asia maps

i don’t disagree but that doesn’t change the fact that about half of these species could not occur on any other map

many of these are only found in countries without hunting (Bhutan, India, Myanmar)

Oh and quite a few from Pakistan and Mongolia (mainly Pakistani though)

CHINA FOR EVER

I think China is possible, people will be wanting to hunt in places that isn’t really possible irl and get totally new experiences, which china would offer with landscapes and biomes seen nowhere else, pandas would be cool to see to make it realistic maybe we wouldn’t be able to hunt them but to have them in like a sanctuary like on Emerald coast, where you can care for it

misty aspen
#

If they did a Chinese Reserve, I think it would mostly consist of species that were considered game animals when China was last open to hunting which means animals like blue sheep, gazelles, ibex, argali, takin, wapiti, white-lipped deer, Siberian roe deer, sambar (in some parts), yaks, smaller deer like muntjac and tufted deer, wild boar, serow, goral and small game like chukar, various pheasants and other upland birds

I could see some animals like snow leopard, Himalayan wolf, Asiatic black bear, kiang and macaques being possible inclusions

Animals I can't see happening are tigers, leopards and giant pandas

That is if they choose to set a future reserve in China and not a country that allows hunting like Pakistan, Japan or Mongolia

Probably but it would be cool because it’s China

There just super rare and have a small range so aren't really a big wildlife thing in china

Now ... can this map ... have a sanctuary with Asian Pandas in it roaming around that we can watch and when trying to shoot it says "Invalid Target" ??

Jaxy said in a stream way back that what would once stopping them in the beginning of the game’s development when it came to hunting isn’t anymore, they know people want exclusives experiences and they’re willing to implement non-huntable species irl. There he was talking about Africa, so maybe it is possible for a reserve like this

misty aspen
# frozen marsh Doesn’t have to stop us, it’s illegal to hunt european bison and snow leopards

The difference is that people can hunt in Germany and Nepal

Heck a number of future South American, Asian (and to a lesser extent, African) reserves could feature a number of non-game species like jaguar on a Surinamese or Peruvian reserve, snow leopards in Mongolia, mugger crocodile on Pakistan or Malayan tapir on a Malaysian Reserve (there is apparently some big game hunting in Malaysia, but tapir is not a legal species for hunting)

As far as Africa goes, it has a wealth of legal game species from guineafowl and duiker to elephants, making the inclusion of non-game species like wild dog, vulture and gorilla highly unnecessary
