Howdy Hunters šŸ‘‹ I'm looking for your feedback and impressions after trying out the new reserve šŸ”Ž Is there anything you particularly like or dislike about Sundarpatan? Let me know in the replies!

To help you out a little bit, here's a list of a few potential topics you can address:

  • Regions and general 'vibe' of Sundarpatan
  • Animal species available in the reserve
  • Bengal tiger's new mechanics
  • Tahr Great One
  • Gandhare Rifle
  • Main story and side quests
  • How does it compare to the previous reserves?

Love how the hare are actually everywhere/easy to find

austere viper
#

Great map, seems like in my opinion the only issue is the tahr and their ranges, I think we could keep them only feeding just need them in more of the open mountains instead of the forests.

frigid edge
#

Love everything, but the feeding and resting zones for tahr making them impossible to grind and the side mission "Low Land" is broken and not registering the landmarks.

austere viper
#

Also I don’t think it needs to be said but new rifle deserves class 4-9

reef wren
#

Tahr great one grind is borderline impossible. Zones are really hard to see, tents can’t be set up, animals move like crazy or ignore their zones. I understand we want a challenge but thar are just annoying. Just give them a drink zone. Not drink zones animals are just ignored by the community.

The new rifle is great fun, I much prefer a single accurate shot over machine gunning lol. This helps on xbox as follow ups can be tough with controller, so single shot that packs a punch is very refreshing. I do however wish it was class 9 too.

• Region and "Vibe" of the map:

  • I genuinely feel like I'm hunting in South Central Asia, devs absolutely nailed it!

• Animal species available on the map:

  • Incredible lineup, I mean ... you guys got me my dream and added Tigers to the game. I personally wish we also had more gamebirds and maybe more animals returning such as the wild boar and Sambar.

• Tiger mechanics:

  • It's the best thing that ever happened in last 7 year, please for the love of God don't change it!

• Tahr Great One:

  • Unexpected, looks great, but I personally have other choices I would've wanted to see

• Rifle:

  • Something new, something unique, I like it

• Main story:

  • Haven't finished yet, but I don't doubt it's amazing like everyone says

• How it compares to other maps:

  • Number 1 for me, without a question.

Thank you for this amazing map z_COTW

Regions and general 'vibe' of Sundarpatan
. Stunning and beautifully crafted. Flora is very pretty and adds a lovely array of colours and tones. Great diversity of challenging and easy areas. Loving the snowy weather.
Animal species available in the reserve
. A fantastic and exciting range of exotic animals. Really wonderful. Would like to see a couple brightly coloured birds later.
Bengal tiger's new mechanics
. Best thing in the entire COTW game. Balance is perfect. Hands down and hats off to the devs. You nailed this!
Tahr Great One
. Loving the designs. Might actually be my favourite great one overall, which I wasn't expecting.
Gandhare Rifle
. Haven't had a chance to try it. But looks kind of fun. Can't wait to try it.
Main story and side quests
. Not started yet. Will do in the next couple of days but word is, it might be bugged.
How does it compare to the previous reserves?
. Again, best reserve yet. The overall balance and variety is just perfect. Well done.

  • Regions and general 'vibe' of Sundarpatan
I quite like it. I haven’t been to Himal yet, but, from what I have experienced so far, I really like it. It’s unique.

  • Animal species available in the reserve
I don’t think there is enough small game, but besides that it is pretty good.

  • Bengal tiger's new mechanics
I love it, but I do have one issue with it; I don’t like that the game penalizes you for trying to defend yourself. If I shoot a tiger running towards me, then there’s a 90% chance I’ve hit the skull and it doesn’t pass the harvest check. It sucks some of the fun out of it for me, knowing that the game punishes you for trying to not get killed by the tigers.

  • Tahr Great One
I don’t care about the Great Ones, but I like that this one doesn’t have drink zones.

  • Gandhare Rifle
I really like it so far!

  • Main story and side quests
I haven’t gotten that far into them yet, but I like it so far.

  • How does it compare to the previous reserves?
For me, it’s yet another good map, but it’s not my favorite. It’s unique and has a lot of things going for it, so it will definitely be a map that I will come back to again and again.

Overall, I really like it, and you have done an amazing job once again!

The three regions are wonderfully designed, especially the Himal and Terai regions. Pahad also looks great, but I haven't hunted in it long enough to justify a proper opinion. The animals were all excellent additions, but I also feel the Tahr and Blue Sheep zones should stay up in Himal. I'd rather get a Wild boar model based on the ones seen in the Indian subcontinent than the boar we currently have, so thank you for not including that boar. Tigers are thrilling. I have no interest in Great Ones so no opinion on the Tahrs. I haven't tested the rifle out yet. The story is decent and certainly better than Emerald Coast. I'm fine with there being no tiger/leopard harvests in the side missions, at least from what I've seen. Compared to previous reserves, it's higher up. However, I still need time to decide on where exactly Sundarpatan fits on my list.

The hares need their senses reworked cus il get them warning call from 400 meters (and no there are no tigers in those areas when they’re warning calling) you take 5 steps and THUMP

#

Also the gandhare imo should go up to class 9 given how it’s often used for tigers irl (the caliber) and tigers are class 9 and it works well agaisnt buffalo more than other class 9 guns

#

I really like the regions of the map, all of the three regions feel like completely different small maps but they don’t feel out of place

I usually get vibes of medved, parque, Yukon, Layton, and revontuli between each region

I don’t like the fact you can place tents ontop of zones and literally walk an inch out and blast everything after the update, it feels cheap and ruins the thrill of a hunt and feels artificially added in it makes everything far too easy

Tahr should be in the top area not the Terai area where there's the pink flower trees. It's unrealistic. I don't mind not having a drink zone but where they inhabit does. Change them to share areas with the Yaks in the far north.

Not at a fan of yak being Murder Buffalo: Mountain Edition. I'm not planning on touching Sundarpatan anytime soon because of most of the map being home to at least one hyperaggressive animal.

#

My opinion so far I haven't played it much but otherwise here you go

ā— Regions & "vibe" of the map

I would say that the landscapes are spectacular unlike anything I've ever seen before and it feels like a home to me especially with the mountains as I spent time in them when I lived in NZ not the same but still same vibe and feeling. I find it to be right up there with NEM, RC, EC all are just spectacular maps but this map with mountains which are my favourite. 10/10

ā— Species Lineup

I would say it's a very good species list I would've wanted a little more but you can't have everything my particular three favourites so far that I've hunted are Himalayan Tahr, Bharal, and Wild Yak. 9.5/10

ā— Bengal Tigers mechanics

Incredibly advanced not something I was expecting with such detail and honestly this would be an amazing start to hopefully some really cool future updates with Animal behaviour and mechanics and seeing things like this especially for predators would be incredibly cool. I haven't come across any yet where I've seen them but from content it's a 9.9/10 only issue is the fact that they spook kinda easily out of 2 that I've come across they've all spooked.

Part two coming

last sparrow
#

There’s a method at the three lakes for tigers where you can get them FAR TOO EASILY, roughly a tiger every 2 minutes there

I haven’t experienced it my self but a lot of people have expressed their opinions about it

fierce wing
#

ā— Tahr Great One

Wasn't expecting it at all and I'm super impressed I really hope to get one soon as they are my all time favourite Mountain dwelling mammal species in the world the varieties are great but I felt like the devs tool inspiration from other GO'S with some of the furs 9.9/10

ā— Gandhare Rifle

I haven't tried it yet but I plan to one improvement would be setting it to class 4-9 or Class 5-9 so it covers most or all of the Big Game not my favourite weapon but I'll give it a 7.5/10

ā— Story/Missions

I just played the entire story or main story anyway I found it enjoyable I liked how it sort of forced you to explore the whole map in order to finish Missions and such I found the plot to be interesting but something that I would expect from a map like this I do wish there was more Missions and wish there was at least 1 mission animal I love them 9/10. Definitely an improvement from RC,EC, and NEM stories

ā— How does it compare to other Reserves

Once again another banger of a map once again Definitely in my top 5 or top 3 it's difficult but I may not say that this is my favourite Reserve I might change that soon once I've spent more time on it but for now it may be

  1. Emerald Coast
  2. Sundarpatan
  3. Revontuli Coast

Overall I would say that the Reserve is a 10/10 or 9.75/10 for me

I think the Tahr Great One is cool. But I never saw a post about a Great One Tahr. I have seen so many for Elk and Mule deer. To be honest I think that this map has a lot of issues for gameplay. The terrain and flora is GORGEOUS, but even while playing in an immersed and slow way, I cannot sneak up on anything. My stealth perks are all maxxed out, but no matter what, I can't even get close enough to animals to mark them on my binoculars. The hills and brush are just too much imo. I've played for over eight hours on the new map and have gotten less than 30 kills, which is unusual for me on most maps. I think that Sundarpatan is sadly suffering from the same issues as Parque, Rancho, and SRP - the animals are impossible to find without spooking them and if you DO manage to get one in your sights, the shot isn't takeable due to the ridiculous amount of trees. I have ONLY seen Tahr (shot 1), Nilgai (shot 3), Water Buffalo (shot 5+), Blackbuck (shot 1), Woolly Hare (shot 3), Greylag Geese (shot 0), Barasingha (shot 2), and Tibetan Fox (shot 1). I did shoot two Tigers, but have not seen any more and they were both level 1 females. I have yet to see a Snow Leopard, Muntjac, or Yak, even though I have explored most of the map already. I like to be challenged, but this map feels incredibly frustrating to play on. I rarely see any wildlife besides geese in the air. The only evidence of life is the "fleeing" calls made by animals that were (apparently) right in front of me. I want to hunt, not hike 24/7. This map feels empty, unoptimized for gameplay in favor of straight realism (I love realistic maps, but I am so tired of maps with only 1/3 of the area being reasonably huntable), and frustrating. The Tahr being the new GO was a MASSIVE disappointment to me (and I'm sure others as well). Adding GOs to DLC only content opened the door to TONS of new content, but instead of Elk, Wolves, Lions, Mulies, Foxes, Reindeer/Caribou, or even the new Tiger, we got a fluffy goat? I understand that the Tahr is an important animal. But overall, Sundarpatan has been a disappointment for me.

Just don't give into everyone crying over drink times and how hard tahr are to hunt. It's about time you people added some challenge to this hunting game. Which I expect to be short lived considering how people are currently complaining because they don't have a G1 2 days after the map released.

I love the changing biomes and weather patterns. Best part about the map. Vegetation is a little thick for my taste but based on where it's at it does capture the feel of the area.

It doesn't bother me that Tahr is the new GO without drink zones. I would rather have Elk Go or Mule Deer Go but that's a different topic.

I enjoy the tiger mechanics a lot. I would love to see these stalking mechanics with the low population numbers added to a mountain lion on a Canada map in the future.

The animal models look amazing. Great Job!!!!! I can't wait to see the older animals that I like to hunt get this same type of detail and love.

Also it doesn't bother me that the Tigers have drink zones. The Snow leopards and Tahr don't have one so I feel like that's a fair balance to please both sides. I'm in the middle ground of both sides 🤣.

I enjoy both playstyles. Overall I think you did a great job on the map.

Last thing is I say add birds over rabbits

Okay I have decided to do my feedback again but use the topics given to us

Regional and general vibe of sunderpatan : I think this map really captures what I imagine how it would feel hunting around in south Asian from the mountains the fields and the jungle.

Animal species : The animal species are great but i would have loved to have seen the moon or sloth bear featured on this reserve.

Bengal tigers new mechanics : I think that the bengal tiger may be the new best animal in the game because of how complex and unique it is and would love to see another apex predator like it in the future (polar bear šŸ‘€)

Gandhare rifle : Haven’t tried it but it looks cool.

Story : Haven’t finished it

How does it compare to previous reserves : this reserve ranks really high from me (top 3) for 2 reasons first of all the 3 separate biomes feel like 3 separate maps secondly I love how you can go from hunting a tiger in jungle to up in the mountain tops hunting tahr.

Animal Species

Honestly, I absolutely love the line up. They all look amazing. The only thing that really feels like it's missing is some birds and the sloth bear. Hopefully we can get those added on one day.

Bengal tiger's mechanics

It makes it both interesting and thrilling to one into one. I hope we see past species getting some TLC to make them just as fun to hunt. (Lions with pride mechanics, being stalked by other big cats, being charged by grizzly bears maybe?)

My biggest complaint

The map is BEAUTIFUL, but I personally enjoy maps with more open areas. There's some on this map, for sure, but there's also so much dense foliage. It's kind of a pain to find things compared to other maps, imo.

First of all, Thank You for this sultry, exotic map!

The 'vibe' of Sundarpatan is wonderfully unique, the biomes are just, impressive! The weather is dynamic, immersive, and so very well thought out. The music is so good I can’t help but smile every time, 11/10.

The animal species, Ok here goes.. The artistry is Amazing 11/10, and the behavior mechanics surpassed my expectations Big Time and likely has changed the game, 11/10. This keeps me engaged. I would’ve reduced the population of hare a percentage and sprinkled a low number of bear in the mid to lower mountain levels pushing Blue Sheep and Tahr upwards. Lastly, I’d definitely have pushed to nix geese in favor of another water fowl entirely. There are so many more exotic choices and perhaps also added peacock or even a raptor to shake things up in the great blue arena. Plenty of food on this map for a bird of prey, but I’m likely in the minority here.
Still a solid lineup overall. I can’t help but just catch a glimpse of a missed opportunity lurking, 8.5/10.

The Tahr Great One seems challenging, which is meaningful 10/10.

The Gandhare Rifle itself is really cool, especially the sight system which really impresses me. This may sound weird but I would’ve also included an exclusive mission reward class 9 weapon / solution as a complete surprise for launch. I know that would have likely made some people unhappy but I just enjoy the concept of mission weapons. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

The new story line and side quests feel meaningful but the main story line feels really short 8/10, and 🫶. I like the characters and great voices too!

Compared to the previous reserves, EXOTIC jumps into my mind foremost. Exotic was also what I imagined and hoped to see so yeah, you delivered in a very big way! 10/10, this is another Must Have Map! šŸ†

Regions and general 'vibe' of Sundarpatan:

ABSOLUTELY LOVE overall! Brush is a little too thick in the hilly areas (Rhododendron forests), but otherwise the biomes offer great, varied experiences. I wish there was more permanent snow at the highest altitudes though.

Animal species available in the reserve

I love everything with the exception of the Grelag Goose and Wooly Hare. I would have prefered another small prey animal like the Siberian Weasel and maybe a quail or pheasant for the birds. LOVE the reworked water buffalo and blackbuck.

Bengal tiger's new mechanics

DO. NOT. CHANGE. THIS. With one exception: remove their drink times. They should not be grindable, and the "Three Lakes Method" is destroying everything you worked for in carefully crafting and promoting the message around tiger conservation. Please DO NOT LET THAT SLIDE. Let the player be their one and only need zone.

Tahr Great One

It's grown on me, but I am still unsure if I will grind for one. I wish it had been tied to the missions.

Gandhare Rifle

Love the idea, the design and sound. Haven't used it yet.

Main story and side quests

The main story was interesting. I felt it was a little rushed in the second half. I wanted to feel more connected to the characters by the end. Haven't done the side missions yet.

How does it compare to the previous reserves?

I LOVE the quality of the visuals, the richness of the animal models and I hope old reserves get similar reworks. I hope we keep the combined outposts and lookout towers... that's a concept I've wanted for awhile!

Lastly, please, please, PLEASE protect the integrity of the rarity of the tigers. I cannot stress that enough.

I’ve absolutely loved this map. The missions have been engaging and interesting. The only thing that had bothered me, along with others is the home range of the tahr. They should definitely be in that north area. Similar to snow leopards, just high mountain regions. I don’t need drink zones for them. Just a more realistic home range. I like pahad as a region, just without tahr there.

I love this map. When i was driving my atv to a lookout tower, i was attacked by a legendary water buffalo, and later (still on the atv) i was attacked by a legendary wild yak. Both made diamond, but i forgot to take a screenshot of them. This is by far (in my opinion) the coolest map EW has ever made, and i absolutely love this map (its my new favorite). Idk where the snow leopards are though, but the tigers are the best species on the map (in my opinion). Good Work EW!

Lookout towers for me are too much effort to go to and use so I never do. The new fast travel option makes them very worthwhile!

Regions and general vibe

Astounding environment! A real sense of space (including verticality). Weather system is also great. I love how there are wide open areas and dense forests (and NOT too much IMO), so you can find a place you like to hunt without too much trouble. The set-dressing for the outposts is spectacular and the area truly feels lived in.

** Animal species**

10 new species is just remarkable. However, I would replace or supplement the Greylags with Bar-headed goose. Cut the hare population down considerably & add Himalayan Monal, Himalayan Black Bear, etc. instead; hog deer and sambar could be added.

** Bengal tiger's new mechanics**

Love them, but sadly predictable (circle around behind the player; drink times), so a bit too easy. I would get rid drink times (or make them random) and not allow tigers to be highlighed, but only spotted (i.e., no glowing tigers in the tall grass). Also, please, please add similar mechanics to lions.

Tahr Great One

They are beautiful but I don't personally care about Great Ones; they're not intended for normal players, just those with endless free time and/or content creators. However, I do love that they do NOT have a drink zone and essentially cannot be grinded. Please don't change that!

Gandhare Rifle

Mixed. Why not valid on Class 9?

** Main story and side quests**

Best missions in years, with plenty of hunting involved and a great narrative. However, the main story seems to abruptly end, which is a disappointment.

How does it compare to the previous reserves?

BEST reserve released to date, with amazing environments and animals, with appropriate missions; it was worth the wait. I love hunting in the dense environments, as well as the general lack of water on the map because it forces the player to actually move and look for animals, putting hunting back into a hunting game; anything that breaks the fast-travel/shoot 10 animals at a lake/repeat cycle is brilliant. Well done!

#

Two thoughts, fantastic map

  1. please allow the gandhare to be ethical on class 9, it has historically been used as a self defense/hunting rifle on tigers. Don't change the power, it's good as is, just allow class 9.

  2. please consider rebalancing sheep/tahr spook for sight/sound in the himal region, the terrain makes it impossible to get into effective range unless shooting at 300m.

#

The Main Story was one of the worst you guys implemented so far. || We are out there to rescue a poacher that gets called a friend just cause He lives in the village there|| also everytime we had contacts with the wardens, 2 of them, one would say a sentence then the other would say a sentence. Like none of them was able to tell more then one sentence. You dont need to put equality into a hunting game, this was extremly annoying. I rather have one good Charakter that tells me the Story then 2 that have their dialouge split so they can have the same amount of words for some gender equality.

Beside the really bad story this reserve is great. Animals look awesome, the whole map is very well done. The difficulty of some animals is great but its also nice to have tigers drinking so grinders are pleased. The New gun is great for some fun hunts. Thats just my overall opinion on this reserve. Would give 8/10

Regions and "Vibe" of the map:
I love the way this map is broken up into three distinct regions that each have a particular biome that they focus on. It makes sense from a realism standpoint while also giving us some great variety. It feels like three reserves in one, which I think is a great thing.

Animal Species Available:
I love all of the animal species we did get, although there a few missing that I think are very unfortunate exclusions. Personally I would have liked to see the Himalayan Black Bear on this reserve, specifically in the northern half of Pahad and the southern half of the Himal region. I also think it's a bit of a bummer that the Sambar Deer and Axis Deer weren't included on this map, since this reserve is in the native range of both of those species. The Himalayan Monal would have been a nice bird species to include as well.

Bengal Tiger:
Personally I love these tigers. They really do keep you on your toes while exploring the reserve, and the attention to detail when it comes to their stalking behavior is really awesome. My only complaint is that I think their model should be a bit bigger, they are the largest cat species in the world after all and right now they seem a little bit too short.

Tahr Great One:
I'm not a Great One grinding type of person, so I'm probably never going to encounter one of these in the game. I do wish that the species name in the game would be the "Himalayan Tahr" because there are other species of Tahr in real life and the game should really specify what species is depicted here.

Gandhare Rifle:
Change this gun to be a Class 4-9 rifle, please. Other than that, it's pretty great.

Story:
I like the story for this map, I mainly just wish that the main missions would have lasted a little longer.

How it compares to previous reserves:
It's one of the best to date. All complaints aside, if you take a step back and just appreciate Sundarpatan for what it is, it really is quite beautiful.

Environment is amazing! But when I imagine the Himalayas I think of big and open mountains. Was a little thicker with a brush and trees than I thought. Would like a real mountain map one day!

Species list is amazing too! 10 Brand new species that look great with remodels to Blackbuck and Water Buffalo! The Tiger model is outstanding and the details for their rare furs are stunning!

Speaking of Tigers, their mechanics are scary and a new experience. I think the number of Tigers is perfect on the map, though the homeranges have given a grinding method, which I am fine with, but maybe make them a bit more random.

Great One Tahr, it looks great but with the Tahr being in very treed areas and not all are in the Himal region they are a pain to grind. Also I would’ve liked a Mule deer more or a more requested animal to be a Great One. Since I never saw a post about a Great One Tahr, just that Tahr should be added. I am glad they are added but a more popular Great One species would’ve been a better choice in my opinion. The Tahr also spook very easily, which I like but not when they’re in the trees.

New rifle should be class 9 as well.

Also we have enough Rabbit species, maybe some birds.

Main story isn’t that great, I would've loved a mission animal and something longer with more enticing things other than the people talking about how the reserve is almost failing etc. Side missions have a lot of hunting, but not the main ones.

By far the best reserve released yet next to Revontuli and Emerald for me personally. Quick recap for improvements, choose a more popular Great One species, remodel some more animals, redo the Tahr homerange for a more realistic experience in Himal and make missions that are intriguing with a mission animal. And maybe a new more mountain esc map!

Maybe we could use a setting where stalking is turned off and Water Buffalo and Yak have a 3/4 chance of spooking for the people who have got PTSD from playing this map (i.e me)

Tiger mechanics are the best thing about this map and I hope this behaviour will be transferred to some other predators.

also - tiger should be bigger.

other than that - no complaints.

The way the cats of this map work should totally be applied to the lions and cougars
