Trophy Lodge and Multimount Improvements

Im probably not the only person thinking that lodges could be way better with some improvements
Here are some that would make lodges perfect :

• Mount and Plaque resizing: The system which animals/Multimounts you can put on which is extremly broken and is in a need of an entire rework https://discordapp.com/channels/393040947006406657/1320804473219846164

• No Gender Restrictions/more Species Options in Multimounts: Multimounts only would be rick`s for multiple species. This would let you have ,for examble, the ,,Fox Lunch'' Multimount with an female tibeatan fox and a male wooly hare or male racoon dog and a female mountain hare

• **Custom placed Mounts/Plaques **: You can place the mounts/plaques(maybe branches for birds/racoons to sit on/probably also weapondisplays ) yourself on a grid

• Custom Multimounts: players can make Custom Multimount rick´s and share them in a in-game Workshop(very unlickly but would be nice to have)

• Skull Mounts: would work the same as in the hunter classic

• **Custom Foliage in Mounts **: be able to place rocks,branches,etc onto the mounts / replace the ground of them with oxide resin for like a group of ducks on a ,,Lake" or a crocodile/alligator in the water https://discordapp.com/channels/393040947006406657/1241417134832222319

Some smaller Improvements are listed here:

• picture frames which could also be placed free on the grid to show of your sreenshots or trophyshots ( if they would ever get added )

• be able to let your dog roaming around free in the lodge

• be able to edit a small story for an trophy which can be seen in the investigastion mode

of course you can feel free to add your ideas to the post

How to improve trophy lodges and multimounts

It’s so weird to me that you can put a saltwater crocodile on the 1-3 plaque but a whitetail must go on the 4-7 plaque. The taxidermy system for this game is nonsensical to me

i maked a remodel concept for the main room in the spring creek manor so we can have at least one xxl multimount fitting in there

• red = body mounts
• green = wall plaques
• small body mount l sized

I like this idea and here is some more things and ideas to add to this:
-let's put the gun displays in this lodge too. I always liked those and it's a bummer to not be able to see them in scm
-more customazible multimounts and I don't mean just the genderwise, I talk about using different species in the multimounts that would fit too. For example we have the fox lunch that uses red fox and white-tailed jackrabbit but instead of the jackrabbit how about you could use the euro rabbit? Or euro hare? Or mountain hare etc. Or... Instead of red fox, you could use gray fox? Or jackal? Or tibetan fox etc. There are many multimounts that could easily work with different species and it could give more species to be put in multimount but also can make lodges more unique
-maybe there could be new sized wall platform for the middle, like something that would be smaller than the ones used for whitetails but bigger than the ones used for axis deer. Would make the animals like spanish ibexes and bighorns look more better in size to the platform than what is the smallest for them now
-maybe the platforms and mounts could use some kind of tile system, where certain mount or platform takes certain amount space from the wall/floor to be put down, for example, the small ones in the table would be 1x1 tilesize, the smallest floor mount takes 1x3 space on the floor, making it 3 times bigger than the table ones. Smallest roundmounts could then be something like 3x3 or 2x2 tilesizes etc. Same thing with the wall mounts too: smallest ones would be like 1x2, second smallest 2x2, medium one 2x3, big one 3x3 and the largest one 4x4 tiles. The gun walldisplay with red on it could be something like 3x1 size. I think there would be certain amount of tiles on the walls and floors that you can use for the mounts and platforms and you could for example choose to put in smaller area either multiple small platforms or one big one. Again, this would make lodges feel more unique that I like.

-if we ever can take trophypics, we could have some pictureframes on the wall so you could display some cool trophy shots of your trophy (or have some funny pics you have taken with your camera) or if the trophy pic thing is hard to make in the game, then maybe add like a greenroom in every lodge where you could make a trophy shot of your animal later with added background pic (every map having different types of background pics to use that are from that spesific map) and depending of the animal, you can only use the ones where you can hunt this specific species.

Sure the lodges could use some love, but I would like the addition of a trophy Museum/Warehouse. Something in addition to the lodges where there is an abundance of floor mounts rather than furniture, a place for nice trophy's and keep the lodges for GO's and rares etc.

I heavily agree with this. The size scaling in trophy mounting is completely broken and deserately needs fixing

As well, I feel that many of the animals aren't far out enough on shoulder mounts. The head stops halfway down to the neck but it should really stop at the chest. This is really apparent on animals like some deer and the wild cattle

Also, for cougars and black bears, it'd be nice if one of the options for a wall mount was them resting on a branch

1: chamois and roe deer are kinda the same size and class fitting both on the same wall mounts and square body mounts but not on the round body mounts

there is so much free space it could clearly fit on the smaller round body mount (side note: blue sheep fits on this mount but other class 4 animals dont )

Definitely need more options for the surface of the full sized mounts. The grass just looks ugly. Would be nice to have sand, sticks/leaves, maybe updated better grass or simply a solid wood or velvet topped stand

Something that really bugs me is the "shoulder mounts" it's more of a neck mount from the 1930s, I wish all animals could have a full shoulder in their mount.
As well as pedestal and half-life size mounts would be good too. And shoulder mounts with rocks or trees on them.
Another cool thing would be backpack mounts. Have only the head of the deer and antlers on it.

another QoL change to add to the list would be an option to sort, structure and filter your trophy manager. Endless scrolling while looking for a specific trophy is very tedious.

Also give us the option to
a) Rename a certain trophy (either publicly displayed, but since that can be abused probably just personal "notes" and
b) have a preview function when hovering to see the rack for example since not every Diamond/Rare is the same

Also I personally would love a Moose multi-mount to display 3-4 Moose at once so you can see the GOs next to each other

Yes! When I started playing, I was very disapointed to see there were no options for sorting or naming trophies. It definitely doesn't need to be a public name, but a personal note would be perfect for keeping track of different trophies.

The sizing for plaques is just a total mess. You can put a 1000 pound salt water crocodile on a size 3 plaque, but a whitetail deer can only go on ether a 7 or a 9 plaque

In the same way that the Pronghorn occupies a large plaques, although the animal fits on a small/medium plaques, but in the game only a large one, it is bizarre

Exactly! The sizing on the plaques are so screwed up. As I’ve mentioned before a 1,000 pound saltwater crocodile can fit on a size 3 plaque…but a whitetail is too big for a the same plaque! It doesn’t make sense!

Idea

Instead of placing taxidermy onto pre-determined spots, have it so that you place down spots in an overhead mode like decorating a room in The Sims.

I feel this would be much easier to make precise choices and really deck out your trophy room.

they confirmed that it was indeed the fox and the phaisant in addition to being remade. but then they like to joke because normally they had 1 map per year and finally it was necessary. So we have to stay on our guard.

Fixing how the antlers of certain species are mounted in the antler only mounts would also be awesome, it’s fine for elk and red deer how it currently works but mule deer and whitetail just look ridiculous and isn’t how people do it irl. ( attached images are a few examples of how it’s done for whitetail, pronghorn, and mule deer, plus a cool multi antler mount I found)

I like them. Taxidermy animals posed in their habitat (tree branches, plants) are spectacular. Imagine these Great One pheasants, all eight of them, mounted on the wall like in this picture.

I really want rock and habitat, that's my # 1 thing I want for mounts. Rocks, sagebrush, trees, choyo, grass and many other things, maybe water as well for birds and Alligators and Crocs.

Would be amazing if they had a system where you could add habitat for an extra price, and you maybe you could cycle through different continents ( or reserves) for what kind you want per plaque or per animal.

Or even have it tied to the animal so if you shot a whitetail on Layton it would be habitat from that while a whitetail on New England would have habitat from there.

Even do it without the sheep, I’d fill it with mountain goats an bighorns (if bighorns ever get fixed they ugly rn lol)

Crocodiles being able to go on the smaller mounts is the only thing holding my lodges together and even then it really isn’t enough, custom mount placement and proper sizing where mounts don’t have to be x3 of the animal you’re putting it on for some reason would make trophy lodges way better even putting aside more lodges and mounting options

I think in a lodge update it would be awesome to have another new feature when creating multi mounts- if you have an animal already plaqued by itself, a yellow icon can appear instead of a red x or green check; yellow indicating that you have an animal available for this mount that is already mounted in your lodge; then prompting if you want to retrieve the mount in order to complete the multimount
(if that makes sense, lol)

Unless they come out with a super cool new CANADA MAP I totally will buy that DLC, but I’m really disappointed that they keep adding new stuff and don’t fix the old things THAT NEED FIXING. They only seem to remodel when that animal gets a backlog or added to a new map or whatever.
Boars, grizzly bears, all of Vurhonga, it all needs work and players have been asking for it for years.
Along with multiple bugs that seem to be everlasting with no patch.
Unless they come out with a gorgeous Canada map with taiga and tundra biomes, I am going to keep my money away from their DLCs until they fix what they really, REALLY need to.

It is very disappointing that people have to mod something that the game should already have!
I used to play with mods on TCOTW and I'm against using them now, but if we don't get a game update like this then I might shove this into my files. If 1 person can mod this then a whole team of people should be able to permanently add it! Heck, add this modder to the team! Amazing work.

Just a “fun” little blurb from a taxidermist (aka myself) pets are not fun to taxidermise at all if they have been put down, whatever chemicals they use for that turn the muscles into jelly, skinning is not fun also just feels weird to skin someone’s pet. I don’t do pets anymore because of it personally and also because it’s just not possible to recreate someone’s pet perfectly, especially since they’re usually old and won’t look good either way.

As for the feature in game, I’m not sure what purpose it would serve but I guess I don’t retire my dogs so maybe it would be nice for others

Yeah I was so excited..not really actually putting animals in mounts till they fix the bug that makes them disappear and then you have to get them back in the trophy manager but after I got her I went to view her in the lodge and it put a dampener on it since I realized I couldn’t put her in the mount i immediately thought of

I like what Salz did but I assume if we where to get more regular lodge drops, small maps would go and we’d probs just get the 1 big map update a year again if they do a lodge DLC drop along side old animal reworks which I think would be pretty amazing. Just sucks since again I do quite like what Salz does 🤔 let’s smaller game shine

Well mostly European, the Musk Deer and Sika Deer are Asiatic and while the White-tails are North American they exist on Revontouli and as a result any white-tails in that Spring Creek come from Revontouli

So glad this thread exists, there's so much room for improvement with lodges and it's basically my (and I suspect a lot of other players) end game. I think I saw something similar suggested already, with overhead pov trophy placement similar to the Sims, but I could see how that'd be jarring/difficult to control maybe on console. I've had a similar idea but won't break first-person perspective:

• A custom multi-mount system where 'slots' could be added within a full body mount area when using smaller creatures, and you can then edit the pose of each creature independently, with rotation similar to smaller tabletop mounts for fine-tuning adjustment. Basically add a 'position' option with smaller animals to cycle through for placement, then once you set a mount in that spot, the slot is marked as 'filled' so the next animal you add doesn't cycle into that slot. This could also be combined with medium slots for example, so you could have creatures of varying species and size in the same area, really filling out the space. Specific mount removal can be done by visually targeting that mount, like spotting in hunting.
• If they really want to go ambitious with it, they could add full 3D axis rotation and movement similar to something like Planet Zoo/Coaster object placement but I could see that getting kind of messy very quickly, and/or players putting mounts in positions that they maybe wouldn't want showing up in social media lol (I know there's gonna be some of those types out there, it's a given)
• I've messed with a similar gizmo in Elder Scrolls Online, which is done from the player perspective, and it's pretty easy to achieve the placement you want while probably being very friendly to console controllers.
• Likely there would need to be a total object limit per mounting space + per lodge to keep performance consistent, especially for people visiting others lodges online which would need to be factored in.

Expanding on this proposed system:

• Additionally could add nature objects placement, like rocks and grass etc. A 3D custom rotation system could mean players can create their own nature mounts by adjusting animal placement to stand on rocks for example.
• Custom mount systems like this could just be fun from a social media and game promotion perspective, run mount design competitions/share events etc. showcasing player creativity.
• This likely would benefit from a visual UI system, perhaps taking up a side of the screen which can be scrolled through with thumbnails of objects and a search bar. This also could be extended to mounts themselves, so instead of endlessly scrolling through a list of mounts, there's a visual representation that at least gives the player some idea of what they're about to pull out of storage. Thumbnail could probably be easily generated from a render of the creature similar to what you see on the hunting score screen. Could add a larger preview to this that could be clicked on to check, but that might be too ambitious.

In terms of poor use of mounting space:

• Some poses clearly fit within a certain area, while some might take up a bigger area. Instead of blacklisting the entire mount from using a smaller space, how about just blacklisting that specific pose? As far as I'm concerned, as long as a foot is making contact with the base of the mount, and looks like it'd be structurally sound - that animal can go on that mounting space.
• Back on the expansion of a nature decoration system, it could go a long way as a space-filler to make mounts 'fit' better in larger spaces (I'll be honest, my Manitoban Elk mount brought me here, although it fills the mounting space decently enough, it feels so empty. Gimmie some rocks or a bush to place to fill that out)

Anyway those are my thoughts that have been marinating for a while haha. Here's to having better lodges in future~!

Dinosaur Fossil Hunter has I think a very compatible system for setting up displays. You get the animals to move freely around in predetermined poses, and then rocks and vegetation and terrain that can placed around them.

Yeah most likely I see them treating it like they do when you mount an animal where you just switch through all the poses but with plaques and stands. Unfortunate it seems we won’t be able to switch the foliage with the stands though.

Hopefully we’ll get either an Asian, Proper American (maybe rustic modern) , larger European, and maybe an Oceania themed lodge next, though I’d like there to be more native Oceania species before they do that. That might be difficult to do if they don’t want us to have the ability to “break” the models, you’d basically be allowing the player to mess with the rigging which isn’t always an intuitive system. It might also end up being like how trophy shots worked in classic before they added poses, where it can be a pain to get stuff in a pose that doesn’t look goofy.

I think the poses they have currently but with the ability to alter habitat and locations of the pre-posed model on the stands would be the best we could hope for. But unfortunately I don’t see it happening anytime soon.

Or, be way more lenient with where trophies can be placed (let lions and tigers be placed on a medium platform) and let people vote on poses/multimounts to be added per update

Trophy-sorting system only shows the unmounted ones - those currently on the wall are not in the menu. To get ALL your trophies listed in the sort, DELETE your lodges and the trophies go back into the inventory - you don't lose them 💯

Huh that’s not been my experience I was able to search for one of my diamond whitetail and my multi mounts (all of which were placed in lodges) without issue

So I have maybe 400 trophies mounted across 3 lodges. I have about 50 taxied in my inventory but not on the wall (all dime WT and Wolves). When I go to a plaque or platform and search, only the WT and Wolves are listed. Those on the wall are not.

You have to search in your trophy manager menu not from the plaques

It’s like the old system in that regard in plaques and stands it will only show animals that are not mounted and you have either go into your trophy manager to find and retrieve em or go to the lodge they’re at and remove em. Just with a better UI and filters now.

Dont get me wrong i love the idea of the premimum plaques, but i think they should've gathered more community feedback and then adjusting it before realeasing it. Like if they would've shown us that theyr'e working on it and gave us and early deep dive we could have gave them feedback so they can it adjust to the better. It feels really rushed ....

not to sound rather snarky or overly rude, its just that this is the equivalent of calling a map DLC rushed because some of the animals in it are classed wrong, which they have been for years. its not the map DLC that's the issue, its that the animals are classed wrong. this is even the same for the terrain mounts given theyre kinda just an extention of our current multimounts in why theyre limited the way they are
