#"NEW SPECIES 2024" Sundarpatan

With the full species list of Sundarpatan coming to light, it's apparent that the diversity of Nepal hasn't been fully realized. This post aims to highlight the community's most prominent ideas for species that could be added at a later date much like the gemsbok, mallard, mallard duck, European rabbit, lion, and Canada goose were.

Some of the most requested have been the national bird of Nepal the Himalayan monal, the sloth bear, the Indian peafowl, and the satyr tragopan, but members of the community please put your suggestions under this post so we can gain some traction.

#

Now, the most prominent to me is the lack of gamebirds

green helm
#

we already got euro rabbits and euro hares but I agree with the rest

potent wharf
green helm
#

there are so many beautiful bird species in nepal

potent wharf
green helm
#

honestly I'd prefer a species overhaul, remodel, behaviour, population, backfill, new ones added to the game and all that good stuff over a new map

#

like I'd rather have the next map after sundarpatan postponed for like 6 months and that we have a big species update than have a new map on time and the rest of the maps and animals to be untouched

potent wharf
#

That would be interesting

fallen stump
potent wharf
#

That’d be cool, but this post is for species that could be added to Sundarpatan

green helm
#

oh, title says species 2024 perhaps rename it to species for sundarpartan 2024

fallen stump

If we wanted more large game animals I think the addition of the Asian rhino and or Asian elephants could be a good add for large game.

raw arch
#

Also Cassowaries and Malayan Tapirs don't live in South America

potent wharf
#

They’re some of the most well-done and well-appreciated in the game. If you were there before S.R.P., I’m sure you remember how requested turkeys were, and how well-received the bobwhites were on Mississippi. Not to mention, the birds have the best models in the game. So let’s get these ideas out to E.W.’s ears

Not a single South American species has a body colour like the Malayan

Here is a list of NEW species I wish made it to Sundarpatan (I also would have liked Hog Deer but thats not entirely new)

Himalayan Black Bear (Class 7): They could serve as the dangerous carnivoran for the mountains and temperate forest areas
Himalayan Serow (Class 4): Since snow leopards and blackbucks made it on a reserve set in Nepal, I can't see why these Asiatic relatives of the American Mountain Goat couldn't
Rhesus Macaque (Class 2): I would like to have seen some more unqiue small game alongside the Tibetan Fox and Muntjac
Ruddy Shelduck: I would like to have seen a new waterfowl species on this map
Chukar: A new upland bird would have been nice, and these could serve as a backfill for Silver Ridge Peaks
Indian Peafowl: A new and very colourful upland bird, need I say more

We could get another Nepal map for all this. So instead of getting 1 or 2 extra animals on sunder, let's just ask for another map later.

Did they make a second Patagonian map for jaguar? Or a second African map? Or Australia 2? They make the reserve and then they move on

hasty hill

raw arch
# potent wharf They were anthropogenically extirpated by cattle ranchers in Northern Argentina,...

Parque is located in Southern Argentina, not Northern Argentina, even the in game description points this out with the following "where the barren Patagonian Steppe meets the balmy southern beech forests", which does not sound like Northern Argentina, that area is more tropical (and loaded with waterfowl, if you want to see a reserve concept set in Northern Argentina check out #1070132029905178645, its set in the Chaco region of Northern Argentina)

wary bay

They don't need to do new animations/AI and only slightly change models to be a bit different for a new lagomorph species Theta swhy we get so many of them.

potent wharf

I’d say two at least

If adding species to maps is that hard for the devs to do, I wouldnt mind paying them for their hard work, for example a "Sundarpatan new species pack" DLC or something like that.

Not even a new duck species, and quite a few fly over Nepal (here's knob-billed duck, Indian spot-billed duck, merganser, and ruddy shelduck)

But what we really need is gamebirds. Himalayan monal in the alpine zones, Satyr tragopan in the rhododendron forests, and blue peafowl would be perfect for Sundarpatan

#

Peafowl especially would have some killer variants

I’m gonna make propaganda may suck but it will get word out

green helm
potent wharf
#

icy tulip
#

The map is already made, it is a big game map, they will not add more species or change anything...
It is not possible to please everyone.

potent wharf
#

Furthermore, there aren’t “big game” or “small game” maps. Each one usually has a rather even distribution

#

It’s a question of value as well. With 30% price increase, one would expect a 30% value increase, especially given they had a year to do more

icy tulip
#

Well, a map with 13 species and only 2 of them small game, sounds like a big game map to me..

Game production costs are higher every day, It is not the same cost as 6 years ago, the studio is closing offices and laying off staff, there is the justification for the price increase

potent wharf
#

Just as well, but the fact that this is the one map so skewed towards big game is strange and doesn’t reflect Nepal. It’s been said before that given enough talk with the community, the developers listen. Look at what happened with gemsbok, geese, ducks, turkey, backfilling, etc.

#

I mean, are you perfectly content with what you see of the map?

hasty hill
potent wharf
#

Which isn’t to say that it won’t be a bad map; it’s shaping up to be my favorite, in fact. But, given the unlikelihood of seeing the unique fauna of the area again, we shouldn’t settle

icy tulip
potent wharf

Did we choose, though? Who was begging for graylag goose again? Or woolly hare?

fallen stump
wary bay
# potent wharf Did we choose, though? Who was begging for graylag goose again? Or woolly hare?

I don't give a f about them either I think it was pretty clear with how Nepals fauna is that birds are absolutely needed I mean they did 8 brand new species and 4 remodels with EC and it didn't take a year. They also did 2 small game species I really like the selection of big game on this reserve and I'm fine with it. But we need some small game it's together with china the place with the most beautiful small game species

icy tulip
#

I'm sure no one choise them but the map's attention was focused on something else, they can't please everyone and now the small game fans lost, just like the big game fans lost when Revontuli came out...
No new species will be added as happened with Africa, that was due to review bombing which will not happen here since there are Tigers and protected species which are popular among requests.

So in any case, thanks for keeping the conversation alive

Other than the very obvious Game Birds that everybody wants, there are several mammal species on the map that I would like to see.

Being that the map is implied to be set in East-Northeastern Nepal (found out via the missions), there are several species of mammals I’d like to see added, those being:

SMALL GAME

Large-Eared Pika
Himalayan Marmot
Pallas’s Cat (Manul)
Indian Spotted Chevrotain
Malayan Porcupine
Clouded Leopard

BIG GAME

Himalayan Goral
Himalayan Serow
Himalayan Wolf
Sloth Bear
Gaur

Not that I would expect all of these species to be added, but these are the species I’d like to see the most, if any new mammal species could be added.
