Wood ducks are one of the most popular fowl species in the United States, one of the most beautiful, and- given the unlikelihood of seeing another map set in the Continental United States- they would fit perfectly on Mississippi Acres and/or New England Mountains and it would be a detriment to the game to exclude them.
Their close association with wetlands makes Mississippi Acres perfect habitat for wood ducks. But because Mississippi Acres received green-wing teal as its only duck species, their decoys are locked behind purchasing New England Mountains, meaning they’re difficult to access for players that don’t own both D.L.C.
Furthermore, New England Mountains’ only new species is the green-wing teal, and for many players that doesn’t substantiate the purchase because- let’s face it- it’s just far too similar to the Eurasian teal. However, the habitat on New England Mountains is very similar to the wood ducks’ home breeding grounds in Maine and the Northeastern States.
As far as rare plumage types and taxidermy concepts go, they should be similar to other waterfowl.
Rares potentially being:
- Eclipse
- Leucistic
- Hybrid Mallard
- Hybrid Domestic
Very rares being: - Albino
- Melanistic
- Hybrid Mandarin (Which I have not seen photographic proof of)
I believe only pheasants and antelope jackrabbits have an XS multimount, which is a shame, but wood ducks could round out the XS multimounts with a waterfowl.
I am sure this idea has been posted many, many times, but I hope my argument is the most compelling and comprehensive.
