Great One Pronghorn?

While we know the next G1 is Himalayan Tahr, I can only speculate as to what other animals could also make for amazing great ones. I’ll start off with the pronghorn.

I think this would be a great addition but also with great ones i wish their was behavior changes like it would flee instead of sticking around but if close enough to the animal it would become aggressive like irl animals

Idk, animals like Pronghorn and Whitetail don’t normally go aggressive irl. The Moose and Black Bears can go aggressive if you get too close.

There’s no proof of that though…as much as I’d want it that could just be some odd bug with discord. I don’t ever recall seeing a WIP tag when I made this, but I also doubt EW would make it that obvious that this would be the next G1.

If you filter WIP tag, this is the only one with that tag, but somebody just informed me that the next G1 is starting with a 'M', so Mule deer or Manitoban Elk

yeah i understand you but i find it more likely that adding wip tag to this suggestion is some sort of easter egg for someone to find and not a bug

I realize that, but the WIP does not mean that it’s the next G1 or even that EW is working on this. It could easily be a bug in discord or something I accidentally hit when tagging this. Who knows, but I don’t think it’s necessarily a good idea to automatically go “OMG THOS IS THE NEW G1” when there’s no solid evidence that it is.

Mallard would (Hopefully) never happy, grinding would be impossible since you'll have to wipe out an entire flock just to get respawns

As somebody pointed out to me, somewhere they confirmed the new G1 starts with the letter 'M'. We will most likely find out tomorrow since the CC's can post their early access videos and will most likely share the new G1 with us

100% mule deer i think they confirmed it but you can see the nose the ears and the bottom of the body look like a mule deer but elk and caribou look similar
classic had a very similar mule deer rack i believe

Classic’s non-typs are random so they could look like anything, they don’t have preset non-typs

My issue with a Pronghorn GO is that I really don't want to grind at night. I purposely don't hunt most game species after 19:00 unless they are certain predators, Kangaroos, pig species, or feral species. It's just not fun.

I was recently looking for more ancient pronghorn species to base racks on and I came across an odd species: Ramoceros. It had asymmetrical horns, with one being tall and large and the other short and small. This could be a very unique rack.

There’s also the very strange duo of Hoplitomeryx (Top) and Hexameryx (Bottom), which had some of the strange horn configurations ever seen in fossil animals. Both of these could make for some very strange racks (assuming they make them a little larger than they would’ve been irl in order to compensate for how much larger modern pronghorn are compared to these 2).

Plus the spiral horned Ilingoceros, which almost looks like it has Unicorn horns. This one could be a very impressive trophy.

I just don't have a lot of faith that a Great One Pronghorn could be done right. Starting to feel that way about any other potential Great One species. The Mule Deer had so much potential, but...

The mule deer were pretty good tbh. There were some bad fire and really only 1 bad rack, maybe 2. Most of the furs were pretty good and most of the racks were really impressive.

Some of them. There are a few racks that are realistic and nice looking, most of the others and most of the furs aren't. There were much better concept sketches and many giant IRL bucks that would have been better models.

Then again, you’re like, THE mule deer guy, and I can see your side, but personally I liked most of the racks. The only one I hated is that stupid curly rack. The only furs I hate is the cinnamon stripes and the Petal Puff. The rest are pretty good. Personally I think the one I got is about the best combo you can get.

This is definitely something I would’ve liked to see instead of that curly rack, I won’t lie. The Broder Buck is a very impressive Mulie. I hope when they do Elk they do one like the Spider bull or the Alonzo Winters bull

That I would, although personally wouldn’t mind a bull that looks like it has something like the fungus rack, as that’s a pretty common thing with non-typical elk to have weird bulges like this.

Idk, I wouldn’t say my G1 Pronghorn idea is fantasy. All the racks are either based on Prehistoric Pronghorn like Tetrameryx and Stockoceros, or they’re based on world records and non-typs. Personally I think this would be a great species to grind, as they’d be super easy to manage on a map like SRP.

Eh, EW has done prehistoric racks before, for example the Quad-Paddle moose (loosely based on Cervalces) and the Irish Elk fallow (based on Megaloceros)

Right, but I feel they're starting to go off the deep end a bit, and you can really see it with the Muleys.

Honestly, I don't want fantasy furs on antlered/horned game anymore. That's my primary issue. Give us the typical, uncommon, and rare furs. That alone will improve the look on even the wonkiest antlered GO. That said, a scarred up buck/bull or a patchy looking one (in the process of shedding coats) would be cool and still realistic.

Exactly, me or someone else who does furs could make realistic looking furs, or ones that are based in reality with a species or fur types that can happen. Same with antlers. But if EW continues with the fantasy animals, it will not be 'great' for some animals

I think it’s fine to have a mix of both, to appease both parties. Have some that arent crazy fantasy (like Dripple Drizzle or Dusky Drift Mulies) but also have some realistic looking ones (Scars Tahr, Ashen Moose, basically all the bear furs, etc)

I wouldn't call the bears all that realistic. To be fair, I've been grinding bears for so long the Great One could be dressed as a clown and I wouldn't care at this point.

Most if not all the bear furs are likely based on irl bear color phases and based on other colorations from existing relatives so id say they are pretty realistic

All of them are based on irl bear colorations (even the spotted, which could be some kind of Piebald). The Glacier, Spirit, Cream, and Chestnut are all relatively realistic.

Fair play, I think I'm primarily thinking of the bear that has a bit of a starry night pattern on it to be honest. I just looked them up and took a good look. They're better than what I thought, but still not a fan of that particular one. It's cool looking, but still fantasy-ish.
