Bengal tiger
Gaur
@main wolf I just want to know but why do you want gaur but not tiger despite both being illegal, no hate just interesting
snow leopard
Wild water Buffalo
leopard
Numbers speak for themselves mostly. But also the public has been told that tigers are on the verge of extinction (they kinda are) since forever now, same thing with say elephants, lions, polar bears and if youāve scrolled on twitter, people get⦠up in arms about that.
That makes sense I understand that argument
tibetan fox
(Now that is just the first result on google but Iām going to presume itās somewhere around there).
Mountain game (Tahr, Bharal, Argali) + Indian Leopard
I'm all here for them
Himalayan goral would be so nice š¤¤
What sheep is that?
I would rather sloth and asiatic black bear but is Himalayan brown bear a possibility(I just did some research on them and they are really cool and now I want them as much as the other bears)
They look to be legal
The way I see it is if an animal is legal to hunt as a foreigner then its quite alright when we get into native people hunting certain species then it's abit controversial in this case I'm talking about South American countries with tribes
All legal animals are an instant yes for me personally, some illegal animals like gaur would be liked to be seen by most and some like tiger are very controversial that's why I made this thread to see the communitys opinion.
Illegal species currently in COTW
ā European Bison ( C9 )
ā Whitetailed Jackrabbits? ( C1 )
ā Iberian Wolf ( C5 ) ( 2021 )
ā Black Bear- Mississippi Acres ( C7 )
ā Saltwater Crocodile ( C8 )
Based off of research
1.Himalayan Tahr
2. Himalayan Blue Sheep
3. Argali
4. Indian Leopard
it's just a game. other hunting games have had endangered species so why can't cotw?
European bison can be hunted in some European countries, they have legal hunting seasons.
Remember that Hirschfelden is not only Germany, it is the entire region of Central Europe, in the same way that Layton is the entire region of the Pacific Northwest and Medved Taiga the region of the Siberian Taiga.
So Hirschfelden is Germany/Poland and maybe Austria too? But how does that make sense because Hirschfelden is German translating to Deer-Field/Fields
So naturally I think Germany as its name is German and the characters are German too
Poland? Poland doesn't have mountains like this or have German names like that
Yes, it could be said that the "Center" of the reserve is there but the first 4 maps were inspired by complete Regions, only from Yukon and Parque onwards did they begin to take the Countries of Origin as a reference
Yeah I realise that which is why it doesn't make much sense but when you look at any map some just don't make sense
For example, if we look at Medved Taiga we have within it both the Yamal Peninsula (which is in the north of Russia) and the Lena River with the Lena Pillars (which are in the east of Russia)
tibeten fox
What other games??? And donāt say Cabalas style games because as much as I love them they donāt count.
I wanna hunt the brown bear
Indian Rhino is also banned in Nepal
No, I do recall reading through list all the legally huntable species and Indian Rhino was NOT on that list
What's canabalas style game
They are referring to several series of hunting games under the Cabela's brand name, which is a retailer that specializes in hunting, fishing and related outdoor products. If I recall correctly the only Cabela's games to have tigers was the Dangerous Hunts series, and that was only 2 games in the series: Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2 and Dangerous Hunts 2009 and in the tiger centric levels of both games you could only use the Tranquilizer Gun on the tigers
Saltwater crocs are legal to hunt. Itās very limited and highly regulated though
It was a reference to both the tiger mission and the earlier mostly target based shooting games.
Guys I donāt think tahr will be on this map unfortunately because Jaxy confirmed there will be no backfilling and if tahr were added I am almost certain that they would be backfilled to te arawoa
I wouldnāt jump to any conclusions, they are a core species of Nepal (not to mention backfilling can be done at a later date).
Gharials are critically endangered. Way worse situation than tigers
This has been explained before, Gharial are not going to happen
Ok but, just because they and critically endangered dosen't mean they wouldn't be fun to hunt, plus hunting the in game wouldn't harm their speices, it's not like they're being hunted in the real world because of this
Exactly plus if they never did end up adding Himalayan Tahr I'm going to kill them for it. ( JK lol )
True true
I want pangolins
They are likely off limits in Nepal
Please either go to #1130567081780326530 or #1187670413002690590
Trailer is out. Leopard growl? #š¢ļø“game-news message
I think it's a tiger
Tiger 4 sure
Sounds more like tiger. Everyone says tigers are completely banned though.
Honestly artistic liberty
Alright! Canāt wait to see the map and stories!
So from what I've seen with the Geese I'm 90% sure that they are Greylag Geese but we cannot rule out the possibility of Bar Headed Geese I don't think they were in the teaser trailer but that doesn't mean they couldn't make an appearance on the map huh what do you guys think?
Exactly the same
Based off sound it seems like they were Taiga Bean Geese.
Bengal Tiger! Most requested Asian Animal
No they are not found in Nepal
If they add this , I will definitely be buying the DLC.
I buy everything they do lol
I have so far as well, but if they didn't add some of the questionable animals to this reserve, I don't think I would have purchased it. With just the 100 percent legal list it wasn't too appealing to me.
We do not need legality for a good map only
I agree! My viewpoint is that it's a game and we should make it as fun as possible.
It doesn't make me want to go out and hunt that animal in real life.
This game may be the only chance to experience a hunt for some animals because you would never have the chance IRL.
It's just pixels as Mel always says
Also hunting irl is so different then Cotw both fun tho
I think marsh crocodile would be a cool one
Iberian Wolf was legal until 2021 cuatro Colinas came out in 2019.
Saltwater crocodiles can be hunted on special ranches and the northern territory government is thinking of making croc hunting more legal and cull them because of high numbers
European Bison are 100% able to be hunted. Poland and Belarus both allow foreigners to hunt them.
There were talks of allowing Tiger hunting in Nepal a few years ago since their Population is over 350 in the country, so Iād say itās a possibilityx
I'm talking about Germany where Hirschfelden is placed
If Iām not mistaken Hirsch is based off of Central Europe as a whole, itās just said to be in Germany to give it a proper location (like how Layton is said to be in Washington, and Medved said to be in the Yamal Peninsula).
I knew that you can hunt European Bison in Poland and Belarus but hunting Euro Bison in Germany is illegal
I just find that annoying because it isn't one specific country or state which makes things even harder to evaluate in this case European Bison but why would a map that has a German name be a map for Germany, Poland and maybe Austria slightly
It looks to be at the Bodensee or another big lake of the Alps where Germany and Austria or switzerland meat
this is a zoom in from the thumpnail of the teaser looks like a wolf to me
It really does
I guessed Himalayan wolf because of slight colouration on its neck and it is yellowish. And size matches and it's game
Kinda looks like a Nilgai
Never noticed that
You can see the snout and ears
Iām not so sure theyād inhabit this part of the map. More likely the tropical bit.
Earsā¦or are those horns?
I think they are ears
It could however be Indian leopard. The lighting in this photo isnāt good enough to rule it out.
Nilgai in a similar pose
How did you get such a good quality photo (as in how did u get such a good photo to be able to zoom in and see it)
The neck and head is too small for the picture
Perspective
Now that I look that that it might be a Himalayan Goral
The weird spotting in the original picture (it might just be a graphical thing) is really confusing me.
Thatās an interesting idea
I just donāt think thatās the right kind of habitat for Nilgai. Nilgai like grasslands and farmlands, not dense highland forests like that appears to be.
i maked a sreenshot of the teaser thumnail and zoom in
(i know the quality is bad )
I thought that too but I don't think it really matches
I think it will be a mix of everything Nepal has to offer kind of like emerald coast you couldnāt find a place where those biomes blend together like that and I doubt they just do a map with one biome thatās not a us map
Sorry I didnāt see context until now but my point still stands
I hope this map has 5 or 6 biomes and is larger than the previous maps too
ik that elephants probably are never gonna be added but if they are there should be a weapon class 10 and a big enough mount to get them in lodges
asian elephants are smaller so they could make it work
but takin would be cool too
If any elephant species is going to get added its likely to be the African Bush Elephant, though the African Forest Elephant is just as likely and its smaller then both the Bush Elephant and the Asian Elephants. The reason I say the 2 African Species are more likely is because both are legally huntable species and a good number of people want elephants on the next African Reserve (Myself included)
true, but we would need a new africa map with elephants and new animals otherwise weād just get vurhonga with elephants and one other species, so maybe other megafauna like Nile crocodile or hippo could be added too. crocs being class 8 and hippos 9 or 10
As cool as Takin would be, they do not live in Nepal, but they don't live to far away in Bhutan and Northeastern India though the specific subspecies in that area is the Bhutan Takin (Budorcas taxicolor whitei) (The subspecies in that picture is the Golden Takin, only found in China)
Iām pretty sure bhutan takin live in the eastern parts of Nepal
Here is the range map showing all subspecies of Takin, and if any subspecies do show up in Nepal, it would be the Bhutan Takin
Iām ready for the nilgai
For people expecting Yaks or big class 9 species, I don't think they are coming, because of Jaxy's respond to a comment couple of months ago #š¦ļø“general message
The way he sounded doesn't sound like we are getting Class 9 big, but for sure class 7 or 8 as the biggest on the map
Tigers not being in class 9 doesnāt sound right, maybe he was referring to weight. Because that would make tigers the largest on the reserve (using range maps).
That would mean no bovines, which Iām ok with.
So leopard might be the only big cat on the reserve if the biggest animal on Sundarpatan is Class 8, mostly because Tigers are certainly a Class 9 species
Perhaps a class 8 (wide)? š
I really hope it's a Tiger and not a Leopard. The map would be better with a Great One Tiger in my opinion.
I hope it's tigers (I mean it was a Tiger roar) cause that will make ANY animal possible afterwards
He could also couldāve been lying and trying to under play it, after all probably itās too early to reveal anything! So maybe we will probably get class 9 animals but since itās still too early, he canāt really say anything About that so heās probably under in and NDA which means he legally canāt say anything about the new reserve side from the Name until launch!
I mean, Yaks donāt even live in Nepal, not anymore atleast.
Apparently domesticated water buffalo are a threat to wild water buffalo due to hybridization, and someone on reddit pointed out how the water buffalo (Bubalis bubalis) could be included as a species to hunt as they threaten the genetic purity of the wild buffalo (Bubalis arnee)
Could be interesting. If that is the case for this reserve I hope thereās a few missions about it.
Definitely would add to the jungle part of the map, which has a minimal possible amount of species without something like them. Off the top of my head the waterfowl, chital, muntjac, Sloth bear, (Non descript big cat), and Sambar.
What i want is it to release already!
One thing that we should be talking about is what will happen if there are Tigers on this map since they're illegal and endangered or vulnerable adding Tigers to the game is a big step in either the right or wrong direction in terms of species I mean if we get these what does that mean for other species that this will likely open a larger window for more species that may have not have been on the radar ever
What are your guy's thoughts on this
I'm all for Tigers if that's what it ends up being. I think it's good for the game because it is just a game. This game is the only chance someone could possibly experience a hunt like that.
The more attention and inclusion we bring to animals, the better the chance of awareness for them.
A simple mention of endangered status can do so much more than say, exclusion from the game altogether.
probely snow leopard but the second one looks like a piepald to me
I think itās just a different pattern/further away.
damm sees only now that brownish pattern that looked piepald to me are branches
If it is Snow Leopards I better make it clear that more people have been attacked by Bobcats then Snow Leopard
There has only been 2 recorded attacks by wild snow leopards and both of them were very far from healthy animals
Truer words have never been saidā¦. Which is why I have a feeling that itās gonna be Tigers that are the big animal Revealed tomorrow! They are the Dangerous Cats you have to worry about!
Interesting artifactā¦
I believe this to be a leopard of some kind.
(Not necessarily snow leopards)
which map is it on ?
EC, Sanctuary Outpost.
ah okay
I'll be happy with whatever they put on the map as long as they don't add in a bunch of species they already have on other maps. Cuts down on the population of the new animals. EC is a the worst with so many deer species.
Iām sorry, what did you want from EC??? Australia is literally famous for deer hunting.
I was just saying there was too many deer species on EC, didn't need red deer, axis deer and to be honest fallow deer. Less species means more of the new species on the map, population wise. More roos, banteng, hog deer, rusas and sambar running around. Just my opinion.
They are all apart of the Australian Deer slam.
Also another map for axis deer and a Rework of them was badly needed
Honestly, I quite like their rework, it looks great, they need some more antlers though.
As I remember, it originally was a cave lion skull collectable on Medved, but I might be misremembering.
We got the tiger!
I Called it! Nilgai is confirmed
I think it's a tibetan fox in the thumbnail
This is what weāre gonna look like when tiger hunting
it was sent out by EW via e-mail to their marketing list. I got it as well.
ah okay
Itās literally carried from classic where itās strictly a German map lol
can you click on anything there or nah
Iām starting to dislike the great one route theyāre going. Hereās why. We donāt even know what the tahr look like in the game yet. Besides maybe a screenshot or two.
It seems weird to feel excited about a species that is supposed to be very hard to get if I havenāt see the standard model a thousands times.
What birds are we gonna get? any ideas?
They're not going to just release a hundred pictures of Himalayan Tahr and their GO on the day they announce it that's what will likely be happening in next week's stream where they typically show off the species, GO and rare furs for those species too
Just 1 bird species I think and likely Bar Headed Geese or Greylag Geese
Only 1 bird in the whole species list? that's disappointing š¦ especially if it's Greylags, I think you might be right with the Bar Heads though, I think that was bar heads in the first teaser
You missed the point I said. But okay lol
What is your point then?
They should have at least 3 Waterfowl and 2,3 Upland bird game species minium
The .577/450 rifle coming with
I really do hope so, I think Revontuli is the best map for species diversification.
Iām pretty surprised they didnāt add Indian boar
Knowing EW they would most likely have went with regular wild boar
Trying to see the shooting lanes and species in JaxyBeardās stream.
That is one sweet rifle I wish we had more weapons pre 1945 the amount of choices would be insane
I hope the goose is greylag so we can get hopefully another new big game animal
I hope the same so we can get an upland game bird like monal on the map.
We need at least one new bird species
Fair enough
could be a greylag could be not
Really hoping we get the full species list today. š¤
There are plenty of big game animals across all maps and a very disappointing number of bird species. irl You are far more likely to encounter a bird than ANY other animal in the wild. Just look outside and tell me the first animal you see, 9 times out of 10 it's a bird. The only map that comes close to reflecting this is Revontuli. To not have a variety of bird species to hunt on the new map is understandable as grinding for Great Ones seems to be very popular, but a balance has to be met somewhere in my opinion.
Wellā¦it was confirmed to be a Graylag Goose
yeah saw it in the stream what a pitty we get a hare instand of bar-headed goose
I'm finding it hard to believe we aren't getting any new birds considering the diverstity of gamebirds and waterfowl Nepal has to offer
Iād bet that we eventually will. If thereās enough want from the community that is.
I think there are a few of us, my worry is that the developers are appealing to the masses and that's understandable, at the end of the day it's what sells that will get developed. Again though, not a single new species of bird on release is very disappointing.
