I had the same issue at the same lake. I was able to reach my deer by running into the water until the claim prompt became available. Shortly after I was “knocked out” and respawned under the water of the lake instead of my tent some 250 meters away. I was able to walk out and my game was normal after, but I restarted just to be sure it didn’t cause any issues. I unfortunately didn’t get a video of it happening but have 2 pictures. Hope this helps
