#Feedback Pertaining To Jaxy's Buck Fever

Hello COTW Community!

I missed the stream but after watching the video I wanted to fill in my personal thoughts and feedback.
The term to me is just another way of saying a person is adrenalized from excitement. Another way to see it would be that the term means you are addicted to hunting. The idea is that Jaxy stated that adding it into the game could add something to make it more difficult.

My opinion is that the game is already difficult as it is. The issue is that after playing for so long you get better at the game and than it becomes a bit less exciting. I also feel like this idea is already in the game to be fair. When you ADS you are not able to do it indefinitely without issue and your heart beat goes up. This is essentially the mechanic and the only thing really missing from the sensation to make it more immersive would be to add the blurriness he spoke of. To me...my opinion...that might make it a bit intrusive. Especially with and for people that might have disabilities or are impaired...I get vertigo with blur effects myself. However, I would not be against it being something you can toggle on and off.

I feel like there is also another way we can look at the idea as well. Buck fever as I stated is not just taken as this feeling but it is also a term used to represent your love and addiction to hunting. So the idea is basically to find a way to give everyone that drive to hunt more. I must say though that at some point there is always a crash/come down from the excitement.
The biggest issue with reaching this goal is that not everyone plays the same way. Someone that grinds could take down a great one in days or weeks. Someone that just roams and plays for the hunt may not ever see a great one ever. Also if you play mostly multiplayer, grinding can become a problem if players are not on the same page. I fall in the middle of all of that and can understand all sides of the spectrum. More chance to come across epic trophies I feel is the answer.

Yah. I wasn’t a fan of what he suggested. Maybe as a toggle feature. But first few months of playing and not watching any YouTube videos…the game was impossible for me. I was shocked they didn’t have an easy mode. I stopped playing for a year before I realized I could watch videos and be a level 60 with three lodges and 55 diamonds. This game takes time. The thrill is still there when I get my new diamonds.

People are always going to dislike a difficulty increase. This game is not difficult, especially within the hunting genre. I would like the game to be more difficult, but I think most people wouldn't. Best option I can think of is the prestige system, like new game+ that makes the game more difficult only for thoes who want it. It's not a good idea to make the game more difficult at the beginning, it's the veterans that want a difficulty bump.

Exactly. I have 14 maps x 16 tents x 30 tripods/blinds, all weapons. I don’t know what to do next. It’s still fun, but I play too much so can get boring repeating same thing and no more places to put tripods/blinds.

I have to turn off motionblur in all games I play, honestly if I can't, I have to refund the game because it just makes me so sick I just can't.

I do agree that maybe adding different difficulties would be interesting, though I think it being optional and all that works. Being able to switch between easy/medium/hard would be fun to allow for different experiences while playing.

Good post. Something like this would have to be optional. I would like to see all the mechanical creases, that make the game unnecessarily difficult in some areas, to be ironed out first implementing this.
Also, as somebody pointed out, aiming for Xbox players is much harder. This is especially true for things like waterfowl hunting. I think many of the mechanics need a huge tidy up. With regards to difficulty, I would like to see a lot more flexibility in the gameplay settings where people can specifically choose which features to enable/disable.

They will have to come up with a way to tell an easy mode diamond from a hard mode diamond otherwise they will mess up what it means to be a trophy ....

I agree 100% that it needs to be optional. I also think that more options to toggle would be the way to go but lets be real here...a large chunk of players will not bother to make those changes. They really just want a passive option to just jump in with minimal effort.
I think that a great idea would be to add the options that increase difficulty so people can set it as a custom game but there should also be pre-sets where the options are set for you. I see survival games and MMO's do this type of thing a lot. The game Green Hell for example has this.

May be just me but I always tweak the customize if it's an option.

Honestly, the best way to make this game more difficult is to add more hazards and aggressive animals. We never really need to use the health packs at all...why even have them? I think adding stuff like dangerous snakes and hornet nests could change the way people are aware in the game. Fall damage should probably be worse as well.
I made another suggestion post before this one about adding penalties like fines and XP loss for killing animals out of class. That is adding difficulty but people don't respond well to that type of stuff.
