I was making a video recently and during it I got to thinking about the current scopes and binoculars in the game.
I know a lot of people would like to have a new scope but the general response is usually why and how would that work because of the render distance limitations? The Argus zooms in pretty close for those longer distances before the end of the render range. But the drawback of the Argus is how much wobble it has when you zoom in. It's difficult to fight against it to get spotting info or just to monitor a target.
This is why I think we could use a new set of binoculars or two. First, they are stable no matter what range you are zoomed into. Second, the current best set with the Apexview doesn't zoom in as much as the Argus does. I think the game could benefit of adding a least one set of binoculars that can zoom in as much as the Argus and be steady to help in finding and targeting long distance animals. The reason I think it might be nice to add a second set in would to have an even greater stable zoom that allows you to see trophy potential of animals easier. Maybe not necessarily deer species because you can get a good idea with their antlers already, but more for other species that it's harder to determine especially at range. Thinking of animals like the various pig species like warthogs, or bison horns, or even getting a better idea on waterfowl from afar if they have unique fur/feather variations.
I think this could fit into the idea of a new scope, but not make it over powered because it's not attached to a weapon. A scope with greater zoom than the Argus would probably have even more wobble making it increasingly more frustrating to use. That's why I don't think a new scope is viable. But binoculars could fit the bill. And you would still be required to use a scope with a lesser range to actually take your shots anyway.
