#Mini-DLCs to better older maps

Came up with this due to a conversation in #1195097534239088720 as a way to add new animals to older maps.

Yukon Valley is our example here

A small update adding something like Sitka deer or Dall sheep to the map by cutting numbers for other species ( moose ). To make these small updates worthwhile we'd get Mini-DLCs (lots of games do this so it's not a new idea) adding really simple things. Let's say an outfit, a backpack, and binoculars or a scope themed to the area (Lyman produced a fixed power scope called the Alaskan 6X ). It adds much needed gear, allows for smaller and more frequent updates, and even at the same price as a cosmetics pack I'm pretty sure lots of people would buy it just for the new optics.

The one piece of gear in each pack could vary wildly, a new call, a scent, even a new weapon (new or old calibers would be fine), or big game decoys (pictured) to help out on hunts. They could even be themed the way Classic did it

I used Yukon here but pitch for all the older maps that could use some love!

Edit: No more moose please, we have quite enough

I would definitely pay for a dlc like this. A backfills dlc would be very fun and very needed for older maps. Plus EW gives us so much free stuff and whatever we do have to pay for is incredible well priced(there’s a very good producer to consumer relationship here)

I think it’s implied but it needs to be specified. This backfill would need to be new species to cost money. Or majority new species

Yes, this would be for new species. Maybe that should highlighted.

It would only be viable if it were a "Hunting Permits" DLC, that only allows to have/hunt those who own it, otherwise no cosmetics would cover the cost of designing an animal, reducing populations, inserting home ranges and releasing a Mass Update to change the version of the game.

At some stage I would take this over a new map

Here’s what I’m thinking for animal backfills(after some study and from what I’ve seen people want) here is what I’m listing down.
Medved-taiga : snow sheep
Vurhonga: that list is way to big for me to choose one
Cuatro colinas:Pyrenean chamois(or Barbary sheep idk 🤷‍♂️)
Parque Fernando: Pere david’s dear deer
Silver ridge peaks: badgers or Grouse
Yukon valley: Dall sheep
Ranchero: Coues deer(or aoudad)
Revontuli coast: grey seal(it was the only thing I could think of)
New England: I have no idea 🤷‍♂️
Mississippi acres: wood duck
Te awaroa : Himalayan tahr
Emerald coast: camels
Hirschfelden: alpine ibex
Layton lakes: California bighorn

This list isn’t perfect. But after reading a lot of feedback, conversations, and from what I’ve learned of hunting worldwide this list generally covers what people want as backfills for the game.
(I like making lists)

And for Vurhonga blesbok would be cool but now that gemsbok have been nerfed I feel like the addition of a bigger plains game animal would be needed

I used the term nerfed loosely

Rock ptarmigan, willow ptarmigan, black bear, and mallard are existing species that could be added to Yukon Valley.

#

Moose, coyote, red fox, gray fox, bobcat, common raccoon, and white-tailed jackrabbit are existing species that would fit in Silver Ridge Peaks.

I kinda like this idea and while it would work well I just think I'd kinda prefer to have a new map over just a DLC for animals I mean for maps like Te Awaroa that would probably be best for this for example but then something like Yukon that is supposedly Alaska I feel like it would be better for a new map

But I won't upvote or down vote cause I both like and somewhat dislike this idea so I'm virtually neutral

Oh this is meant to be an in between thing for time between maps. Also, adding a new animal to older maps would also set up that animal for a second map in that area. Like Sitka deer? Perfect for a coastal or island map (haven't seen one for Vancouver yet which is odd) and adding them to Yukon would give the devs a way to work it out before the new map. I'm not saying this idea is made to replace maps

Just help the old ones stay relevant

Hey guys,

For Te Awaroa, what do you think about an anorak outfit, a fanny pack, a recurve crossbow and sambar deer?
