Hey Devs. Was wondering if you guys could expand the usable range of the .470 King DB to classes 7-9 rather than just keeping at 9, so it'd be viable on Large Game in North America and Europe as well as Dangerous Game in Africa. The gun already has so many drawbacks (range, weight, ammo cost, choice of optics) and is gated behind a map DLC and a 90,000 credit price tag that an expansion of viable classes wouldn't really upset game balance and ensure that it doesn't end up just gathering dust in the face of the flood 4-9 Rifle DLC.

There is a reason Vurhonga is so badly reviewed on Steam and I believe this gun accounts for a fair bit of that sentiment. Its such an iconic hunting rifle that is being sidelined in its own map.

.470 is WAY too big for Black bear or any bear for that matter.

7 to 9 is the standard range for "Big" game rifles in the game. So I just want some parity for such a heavily gated gun. 90000 plus 6000 rifle score should get me something more than a paper weight.

You aren’t supposed to use it like a rooftop sniper hitting 500+ meter shots.

I wanna get more use out of it instead of always defaulting to the 7mm mag. Since I like hunting at close ranges.

Yet we have no elephants and it is instead used on Lion and Buffalo. If weight and size is your metric for applicability that should necessarily include Oryx and bear.

I would at least like to be able to put the 4x default scope on it or even the drilling rifle scope on it. I spend nearly 100k and quite a few hours trying to get it only for it to be useless

My point is, purely from a game perspective not RL, the .470 DB is overcosted and overly limited for a gun you need to pay 5 dollars to have access to.

This is why we need an africa 2.0 map… to give the king some use.

Just like there are situations where a rifle calibre is just not enough (just because some elderly woman shot a grizzly with a 22LR does not make it okay)

There can also be too much gun
While people have certainly taken smaller game with elephant guns, it isn’t necessary, especially when smaller and more calibres

And I have sene videos where players have been able to slot in the 470 quite well
Pro XCK is a content creator I have seen utilize the 470 on maps like Hirschfelden & Emerald Coast

I agree it needs a buff to at least perform better at 150m and under. But I don't want it Insta dropping buffalo with double lung shots. But let's be honest 338 and 300 are the true kings of class 9 and even if 470 got better in the way I said I'd still choose 300 or 338. As for 50m and under might as well use a bow as its quieter and you'll be able to kill more. Really hope someday we get a 375 h&h that would be hopefully better pen then 338 and 300 but more distance then 470.

At the very least it needs access to better optics. Even a rail to enable the use of the Ascent would be a massive improvement in capability.

Yeah it’s a dedicated dangerous game gun, I could see having a scope mount like how the drilling rifle is but with a 1-5x.

The .470 King DB works great as intended (close-in on Class 9 animals).

The reason it does not use scopes is (as was discussed when Vurhonga Savanna released) the nitro-express cartridges and the recoil will damage the optics of a scope, whereas a red-dot is fine. Further, since the gun is not really intended to be shot at long ranges, there is no real justification for a magnified optic.

(For the record, I have no idea if the scope issue is a legitimate one as I don't shoot at all; I am just recalling the explination given at the time.)

This is 470 on a class 8 gemsbok at 83m. Not even 90% quickkill while 338 and 300 can get 100% at like 220m+. Need I say more?

Not all weapons have to be good or useful for everything, the King is fun to use and requires a certain level of skill to use effectively, which is what makes it unique..
If all weapons were equally useful and easy to use, the game would be boring.

Yeah but I ain't asking for everything. Class 7 to 9 are large predators and antelope/elk/bovids. The kind of animals that can take a .50 BMG to the heart and still run for 100 yards.

Indepedent of penetration, expansion and energy bleed at range, the Class system is downright arbitrary.

I just want to get my moneys worth. $8 irl cash for vurhonga plus 90k in-game cash for the 470 and its not even close to being the best class 9 rifle

Yeah. It seems they are trying to spread out the classes given the advent of the .243 and .45-70 Thomspon Contenders. Though now you can get by with the .22, .243 and skip ahead go the .470 now that you don't need to cover classes 7 and 8 in Vurhonga.
