I wouldn’t go for an assault or battle rifle style of AK. Can’t see any reason why something like a Vepr couldn’t be in-game though. Would be a pretty cool semi-auto equivalent for the Mosen-Nangant already in the game. Kinda like how all the ARs we have also have bolt-actions of the same calibre.

Would be cool on Medved Taiga as they are very common hunting rifles in Russia. Could also come alongside a new Mongolian or Central Asian reserve as they would fit the setting.

Edit: I’m talking semi-auto AKs here, they are quite common for hunting. No one hunts with full-auto weapons aside from maybe poachers in Africa.

If we want some neat Russian weapons in the game that aren't AKs, one that I would love to see is the SVD Dragunov Sniper Rifle. This is a semi-automatic sniper rifle, it is chambered in the same caliber as the Mosin we currently have in the game, and I think it would be a great addition alongside an Eastern European or Central Asian map.

7.62x51 NATO is for military use, the caliber for civilian and hunting use is 308.Win (7.62x39).

Avtomat Kalashnikov 1947 (Ak-47) uses x51 NATO ammunition, that is why it is not a hunting rifle.

Another reason why x51 are not used is because civilians can only purchase a limited amount of that ammunition and a special permit is required in addition to being much more expensive than its civilian equivalent (.308 Win).

There are versions of AK with a chamber for civilian use (7.62x39) but it is the same one that we already have in the Zarza-10

Ak47/Akm does not use 7.62x51 it uses 7.62x39. Completely different calibers and 308 is not 7.62x39 308 is essentially the same thing as 7.62x51.

the original ak47 barely even exists today, they are one of the rarest ak variants in the world, what people call "ak47" is the AKM, made in 1959 as a modern version of the ak47, but even the AKM still used 7.62x39

But the bullet that the AR was originally chambered for was first made as a varmint round. Check your history and read up on guns. The 223 Remington was first made as a intermediate round used for small to medium pest control.

I'll agree to disagree, an AK model............yea not so much! 7.62x39 Ruger Scout or SKS yes. (300blk: •110gr - T: 2-4/ •220gr - T: 3-7). 7.62x39 would fall in this range easily & I'm all for the caliber. In terms of Armalites (Civilian AR's) I'd rather have bolt upper variants. The .223 & .308 should've been modelled after the Remington VTR & SR-25 as true hunting Armalites. The .300 is modelled from a NEMO. So again all for the caliber but not the platform.

I dont see any issue with this. 7.62x39 is effective on deer out to 300, 5.45x39 would be a cool 2-4 class weapon. And 9x39 would be similar to the knew 300blckout. All have 5 round mags made for them. I dont see why ak is an issue or you guys when the game has 4 ar’s. Not like they are full auto. There are semiauto versions

My issue is the variant or model. Like the armalite I'm not happy with the model. Not the platform or caliber. As I said a bolt upper armalite wouldve been a good alt than a semi. But the model used is too close to a sass variant in 308 & the 223 is a semi M16 model. If it was the vtr & sr-25 model i'd like it more. Thats all. And I think theres better rifles to choose from in 7.62x39 than a traditional ak 47 like an sks instead that better suites the wartime collection like the m1 grand and mosin.
