It might be some file issues or something with dlcs if u have any. I have the exact same issue. I do a trick that i found on someones post on steam almost every time that i enter the game and when i realize it starts freezing, i leave, do the thing with the files or whatever and it loads. The next day i repeat the process cuz it starts bugging out again

Its probably some issues with Revontuli, Te Awaroa or the bloodhound dlc. It first started for me with The bloodhound dlc then Te Awaroa. Now its probably revontuli thats bugging out the game for me

No i dont mean abt the verification of the files you have a method where you like generate the files again or whatever. Just type on google "why does cotw freeze on start-up" and click this community post that im abt to send you

As you search the thing that i told you to, click on the steam link thats in the first picture and then it should look somewhat like this (the other photo). Then all u need to do is follow the instructions. But read carefully btw its kinda confusing. I couldnt get the link of it thats why im trying to explain it to u rn
