To everyone giving downvotes: You are either not understanding my point or this has become such a standard practice that you don't care anymore which is a far larger problem than the first point. I never once said this content shouldn't exit, you seem to attach it to a perquisite of either you get nothing, you have to pay for it, or it HAS TO BE time limited for you get it it for free.
NONE of those are true. People have become so accustom to having to pay for skins that they have developed this mindset of getting something for your money by having a few extra textures. No you don't. Textures (especially repeating patters like every single one used in this case to make it compatible for all weapons) are one of the least complicated things to make. There is a reason why there are so many skin markets in games. It's the least possible developmental effort compared to potential profit.
I'd argue this game already has enough DLC which should be in the base game like ATV, Dogs, Tents, Treestands & Tripods, High Tech Weapons Pack, having to pay for new weapons and so on. The reason this crosses the line is because you put arguably essential gameplay elements behind a paywall. There has been way more outrage for less like Sega putting a New Game + mode behind a premium editions paywall of a game.
You can hate on me all you want but that doesn't change the fact that cosmetics are not even 1/1000 of development time compared to a new map with story missions, new species, voicelines and so on. And it would be even less if this game had something like actually existing characters outside of voicelines. Yet the price for these cosmetics is 3/8 of that of a full map. Let that sink in and now you know why it's done, encouraged to buy and also why prices nowhere near match the effort to the point where it might as well just be free. Other games also doing this is no excuse since this is a plague on the industry not a benefit. But please keep on defending for no reason.
