Te Awaroa is a reserve that is favored by many players in the game, it captures the nature of the area almost perfectly, but with the existing species on the map, it really needs animals such as:
• Sambar
• Pheasants
• Wapiti (Rocky Mountain Elk)
[✔] Himalayan Tahr - 03.25.2025
• Paradise Shelduck (New)
• Wallabies (New)
added on the map along side the Southern Lights also known as the Aurora Australis added to the southern border of the map that will be visible at night time to make Te Awaroa the Ultimate New Zealand hunting experience.

Expansive Worlds, please consider this.
Thank you! z_COTW 🇳🇿

I also need to mention that I am aware that there are topics on this, which I support, I just wanted to make my take on it 👍

I like this idea just not any stupid species like peacock

There can be a different map but not NZ already had a few conversations with people about the NZ map coming to woth

Cause I don't like the idea of a completely exotic bird being able to be hunted on a map that could have better species

They're all over Texas too, Tennessee has a few, and Florida too

I mean I am also open to Peafowl, we can have both peafowl and pukeko

I know both and would love pukeko the only thing I would question if they're is enough suitable habitat for them

I would absolutely love to have Indian peafowl to hunt on Te Awaroa, to the point that I would even be happy if they completely replaced the turkeys to accommodate them. Of course, if peafowl were to be added to a South Asian reserve in the future, that would be even more brilliant.

I think they don't really need to remove turkeys to add pheasants, we can have both on the map, maybe different homeranges

gloomy osprey
# vale silo I think they don't really need to remove turkeys to add pheasants, we can have b...

I mean, true? but we have Turkeys on so many other maps already (I mean we have them on SRP, Te Awaroa, Rancho, Mississippi, New England and now Layton, that's a lot!) so tbh I wouldn't mind seeing something like pheasants or peacocks replace them on Te.

But that's probably not very likely to happen. If I had to guess, Turkeys would probably remain on the map and we might get one other bird species added to the areas that don't have them.

south marlin
gloomy osprey
# south marlin Yeah,I don’t think anyone goes on Te to hunt turkeys.

Yeah, why would you when the Merriam's Turkeys are on Layton and SRP? I mean I don't mind running into the occasional turkey on Te and taking a shot at it, they're fun to hunt. I just think that the choice to include them on Te, when we then ended up getting them on almost every new map since then and also got them backfilled on Layton, just seems a bit unnecessary.

#

I mean, the only NA map that doesn't have turkeys is Yukon Valley. Isn't that kind of crazy? I get that they're a common and widespread game animal in the U.S. so it makes sense, but it's also just sort of weird.

@vale silo this is the map I want waterfowl most, some of these have limited legal hunting some are none game but unprotected and shootable.

The bay I marked on the picture would host all the species besides paradise shelleuck and Cape barren goose even if not mentioned in the home range
Species marked with a ? Might not be legal or only limited legality

? New Zealand scaup (both coasts)

? Brown teal (the lakes on the eastern part of the map)

Paradise shelleuck ( low elevation grasslands of the map)

Grey teal and black duck (map wide besides coast)

Australian shoveler (on all lakes and the bay in the nort west)

Black swan (map wide in low numbers)

Cape barren goose (mountains)

I hope I made a good mix

You can also hunt peacock In new Zealand

As a New Zealander, tahr is the main one needing to be added. Wapiti, wallabies and paradise ducks also have a strong case. Pheasants are rare, sambar are in low numbers and peacocks are irrelevant like turkeys. California quail would've been a more logical add instead of turkeys. Also we don't see the aurora down here

For a new New Zealand map that actually showcases the species of the south there could be these creatures:

Returning species
Euro rabbit (1)
Ring necked Pheasant (1)
Feral goat (3)
Chamois (3)
Fallow deer (4)
Whitetail deer (4)
Tahr (4)
Feral pigs (5)
Red deer (7) (reclassed)
Sambar (7)
RM elk (7)

New species:
Californian quail (1)
Grey duck (1)
Paradise shelduck (1)
Black swan (1)
Brushtail possum (1)
Red necked wallaby (2)

If it’s about the .300… the .300 WM shouldn’t even be rated for 7-9; it’s stupid

#

5-8 at most

candid yew
#

.300 should be 4-8 but that's an overused class range anyway.

Regardless

There are guinea fowl in matariki park and while I'm not 100%sure they are supposed to be there, I wouldn't mind having them in game here

This is the difference between living in a country and doing internet research. I don't know any hunters here that shoot peacocks, in fact I've never seen a wild one myself, only domestic ones on farms. I may have seen one wild turkey ever? Chukar are pretty rare and I've only seen a handful but more than turkeys or peacocks. California quail are rather abundant and shootable, pheasants are quite rare but sighted occasionally in this area. If you want upland birds then quail and pheasants would make sense. Turkeys were always a strange addition to TA

Because I have lived here in 6 years and never seen one it's still a large part of hunting. But honestly just at peafowl to Sundarpartan

Turkeys on TA annoy me lol. Peacocks would be the same. The quail are nice looking birds, chukar as well. An orchard I worked at had about 20 quail living there.

Paradise ducks, canada geese probably. Pukeko possibly

Backfilling: Each species in some subregion. The Rocky Mountain Elk shares its habitat with the Red Stag, the Sambar with the Sika Deer, and the Tahr with the Chamois. Aparawa Sheep with Fallow Deer. It would look much better this way.
