I believe that the game needs more types of ammo, not just soft points and polymer tips. For example, the .30-30 is a wildly underpowered rifle caliber. But there are different types of ammo. I have seen “varmint load” for a 30-30 and even i big enough game load for elk. So I believe instead of the 2 ammo types them by boxes with the loads could be better. Possibly the Developers could get licensed with brands like, Remington arms, Winchester, and federal for more ammunition types. If you agree, hit that 👍🏻 button!

I think High load would work for mid-high calibers as well.
I just hate how some calibers are OP but good IRL calibers Aren’t.

High loads would be a night and day difference, something like .30-06 would preform completely differently than the ingame version (while being easy enough to introduce.
Buffalo bore makes some crazy good .30-30 ammo, I bought a box of this stuff to try out and it's an absolute beast. Took down a Hereford bull with a lung shot at 207 yards and shattered the scapula doing it
I gotta ask, what was the context behind shooting a Hereford Bull?
Meat. the farmer asked if i'd kill one for him so we could butcher it and I asked if I could try it with the .30-30, he said sure
Fair enough
yeah nothing special, but considering that's their ** light** load for the caliber it's very impressive
Buffalo bore makes some effective cartridges for serious situations! 😮
I feel like if they got a partnership with ammo brands COTW could be a amazing thing

Hornandy is advancing performance again for various calibers. ==> https://youtu.be/OnKdrcN2VBU?si=Lve_si9VfGuhFDgA
This game has had 5 years of progression and they haven't touched any of the base game calibers since release. It makes it hard to want to use any base game gun except the .243. I'd love to use the Whitlock .30-30 more but its so weak it just feels pathetic and useless
Yes! I hunt with 30-30 IRL and can drop deer. It cant hurt anything in the game.
I've used this .30-30 for 15 years now, deer hogs and black bear have all dropped stone dead with one shot (to be fair, I handload 170 grain hardcast semi-wadcutters) but IT IS NOT A SMALL GAME GUN people do not hunt foxes with a .30-30 and if they shoot a coyote its because it was a chance shot while they hunted deer
Got these 2 from my grandfather. They have killed many hogs and whitetail. I know the 94 has killed coyotes because I had it in my sxs and saw one close to my goats. 80 yards iron sight’s dropped it. But I would never go out and hunt one with it. Only if it is going after livestock or I see it while deer hunting.
They need to get the bullet penetration right. In real life, soft point bullets have much more penetration than any polymer tip bullets . In the end, they both expand about the same.
They need to do it by grains in the ammo and not the bullet itself
I'd rather have three types for each weapon. With my .30-30 I use three different weights, 150 for deer/pronghorn size animals, 170 for larger deer and hogs, then 196 for black bear and elk (it's a Lee mold I ordered custom, fits my action with a fraction of space left over but it's dead reliable)
That’s like how you can get pretty big grained .223 along with varmit loads.
Also if you could buy ammo buy 100x 50x or 25x

Wanna point out, this game has had five years of progression and the changed a lot of stats on the animals but the base game and early dlc weapons haven't been changed to match. ** AMMO REBOOT PLEASE EW**
That and it hasn’t had any new optics

This is not COD or Battlefield, we don't need the guns balance for competing with each other
We need them to kill the biggest animal in their classes EFFECTIVELY that is all, they need to do their freaking job and nothing else
It’s not the gun, it’s the round
Jaxy said they want the guns balanced with each other, they don't see a difference between ammunition and guns

Bumping this again, just watched the stream and remembered that the base game weapons are awesome but way weaker than they should be
Agreed

bumping this for the same reason as last time

If I had to pick a new ammo type for one gun. Easily I would choose 45-70 hard cast bullets based on 500 grain bullet for classes 7 to 9
For me, the 30-30 or 30-06
Apparently, .45-70 is getting a change with the High Caliber weapon pack coming soon so hopefully they actually made it right this time.
Anyway, A third ammo type for each weapon would be really nice to have. For the lever action rifles it could literally be High Velocity rounds. .30-30 has polymer tipped ammo IRL (LeveRevolution) that's extremely effective on black bears
.30-06 could do heavy-for-caliber Round Nose ammo (based on a hard cast 200gr. bullet) for higher pen
.300 could be made 4-8 with Copper Alloy rounds (Based on the lighter BTHP bullets used for deer and such in the Western US)
.270 could have light Soft Point Round Nose bullets for 3-7 classes (basically it's just a lighter soft point round so it can be used on roe deer)
Yep those lines of Hornandy ammunition, I’ve used various calibers and the results are devastating for internal organ systems. .44s to .30-30s. 🏆
I usually prefer a .270 cartridge from a Browning BLR for deer the most, but so far but those LeveRevolution lines in different calibers have resulted in immediate shock, death, and no take off. Including those (neck) swollen-up bucks mid stride behind a doe during rut.
Would be nice to have 7.62 hard points for the Solo.
UPDATE: the .45-70, the caliber used to decimate the plains bison population in North America, IS NOT FOR BISON APPARENTLY
I KNOW
