Are tents limited use items? I was playing multiplayer with a friend of mine today. I’ve had my tent since I started playing. I play on Xbox at the moment, but when I put my tent down and accessed my storage from it, I got a message that popped up that said MISSING ITEM, you no longer own this item, do you want to purchase and equip it. I closed out of the game, logged back in and got the same thing. So in order to use it, I had to purchase it over again, and now it says I have 2 of them. It’s the Camo Tent, is there anything that can be done as far as looking into this or anything at all? I really didn’t want to have to waste money on another tent if I didn’t have to but it was the only way to get the error to go away. Please help. Thank you in advance for your time and assistance on this matter.

No, they can be used forever. It just said that because it wasn’t in your inventory, once you pick it up you’ll have it again.

That’s the weird thing. It was in my inventory because I was able to pick it up and put it down freely and even fast travel to it, but I only got the message when I tried to access the storage section from inside the tent.

The message saying "You no longer own this item" appears when opening your storage and selecting a loadout which includes an item that you no longer have in your inventory or storage.
As such, if your camo tent is saved to a loadout and you deploy it somewhere in the reserve, you no longer have the tent in your inventory. Then, when opening your storage, the game wants to complete your loadout, but since you don't have a camo tent in your inventory, asks you to buy one. The tent you already deployed is not affected and you don't need to pay to keep it.
This is a part of the loadout feature and is intended to happen with most of the consumable and placeable items. If you wish for the notification to not appear, simply remove the tent from your current loadout or select a different loadout.

Okay thank you. I must have accidentally saved a load out then because I never use that feature. So I ended up buying the 2nd tent for $6000 just to get the message to go away and now shows I have 2 in my inventory. How do I go in and edit the load out to make sure nothing is saved under there?

To edit the loadout, go to an outpost and interact with the cache. Select your storage from the menu on the left and choose one of the loadouts by clicking the dropdown menu next to the Inventory text.
The loadouts containing items that are no longer owned will have an exclamation mark icon next to them. When the notification pops up, click Cancel to avoid spending additional cash.
Then, scroll down to find the affected tent and drag it from your inventory to the storage locker. To save the changes, press R or click the Save Loadout button in the lower right corner of the screen.
