I would like to suggest Nunavut Barrens as a new map concept, based on the Nunavut region of Canada near the Arctic circle. Steeped in cultural history of the Inuits, these barrens are a cold and harsh landscape that rewards hunters with insights from the natives via their many monuments across the reserve as well as breathtaking views and excellent hunting opportunities.
In the south you'll find the tranquil rocky valleys home to the likes of Grizzly Bears, Red Fox and Rock Ptarmigans among the streams and mountainsides. More centrally as you head in north you'll start to find Reindeer, Arctic Wolves or maybe even discover huddle of Walruses as the land starts transforming before your eyes from the rocky valleys into scattered islands of ice and snow to (carefully) make your way across. Finally, in the north is where things get interesting. As the land settles into a solid ice sheet, among the snowstorms you might catch a glimpse of the majestic Musk Ox or, if you're unlucky enough, encounter the fierce Polar Bear up close and personal.
There's plenty more to discover in the Barrens, try Canada Geese in the south or Arctic Fox in the north. Wait until nightfall for the legendary Northern Lights, or watch the waves for Whale spray. The adventure is yours.
Here's a list of species, their class and their locations in the map:
Walrus 9 (Central)
Polar Bear 8 (North)
Musk Ox 8 (North)
Grizzly Bear 7 (South)
Reindeer 6 (All)
Arctic Wolf 5 (North/Central)
Lynx 3 (South)
Wolverine 2 (South)
Arctic Fox 2 (North)
Red Fox 2 (South)
Arctic Hare 1 (All)
Canada Goose 1 (South)
Rock Ptarmigan 1 (South)
King Eider Duck 1 (South)
A weapon to come with this is the Cable-backed Bow, a traditional Inuit design made from antler and sinew to provide a powerful shot and close range.
What do we think?
