It can be an update or a DLC item. I'm thinking possibly range finding scopes with thermal or night capabilities. I'd love to hear from everyone on this

If it is scopes,I don’t think it will only be scopes,especially with how long they are taking.

The problem with thermal scopes/binoculars is their system that changes the way the entire scenery and landscapes of the game "look" since a "thermal version" of each existing texture in the game must be added (I mean the one in the image).
With the current night vision there is no problem since it only changes the contrasts to green and increases the lighting shown, if a night vision of gray tones is made there would not be many changes either...
I think that's the technical problem why we don't have them in the game yet. :/

We have animal highlighting and tagging providing the benefits of thermal vision in some regards, so there isn't much function to it
