So i know that there has been already 2 good posts suggesting Estonia as a hunting map but they didn't specify why and how. So i am a beginner hunter irl (hunted only for 2 years so far) and tho i am lithuanian i live in Estonia and i can tell that in Estonia there is much more opportunities to hunt. Now the map i imagine would have similar season rotation like Yukon Valley since Estonia does have some rough winters but also warm summers. Estonia is mostly known for its old town but i don't think it will be included into a hunting game, but what might be included in this game is it's swamps. It covers over 20% of Estonian lands and is a place for many small and midgame animals from Hare all the way up to Boars and even European Elk aka Moose. Also because it's so swampy Estonia is one of the largest producers of Tar aka Oil Shale in the world. Infact in 18th and 19th century it was the most productive country. So i imagine that atleast one region would be like a fully open area thag is only swamp with different outposts and lookout towers. Next thing is it's forests which is where the main game would be so basically everything. It does have some neat forests which consists of mostly coniferous trees. Also one place that i'd love to see in game would be the Blue Spring (i'll attach pictures of everything later.) Which has quite a few stories and legends about it and it just looks amazing and would be something new that no other reserve has, like those visit places like Revontuli and Emerald Coast have.

And then also the beaches which would have a new animal being Grey Seal, now they are not allowed to hunt in the country but at the same time it's just a game plus it would be a new thing which would have similar mechanic to the saltwater crocodiles who just come to shore to rest. In fact the Baltic Sea and all that sea region in general has over 40000 Gray Seals living in it and about one fifth comes to Estonia to rest any time of the year which also goes back to the idea with snow and sun cycle like in Yukon. So for the animals there would be three new animals, those being Beaver and Badger who would be class 2 and they are widely hunted in Estonia, Beavers are especially hunted mostly at night (i have hunted them once. I missed my shot but it was still awesome.) And the as i said Gray Seals who would be class 3.
Here's the list of animals that can be hunted in Estonia:
1- Canada Goose, Ring Necked Pheasant, Mountain Hare, Hazel Grouse, Western Capercaillie, White Stork (New), Common Crane (New)
2- Red Fox, Racoon Dog, Eurasian Badger (New), Eurasian Beaver (New)
3- Eurasian Lynx, Roe Deer, Gray Seal (New)
4- Wild Boar, Sika Deer, Fallow Deer
5- Gray Wolf
6- Red Deer
7- Brown Bear
8- European Elk aka Moose
9- no class 9 animals
And now for the pictures of how the reserve could look (i didn't attach any pictures of animals since it's obvious)
Added: so two more class 1 animals could be White Stork and Common Crane who I honestly didn't think off at first
Red Deer, Fallow Deer and Moose on the same map sounds pretty cool
(I had to cut the text into two pieces since it had a character limit)
Yup, and they all are in Estonia. I actually didn't even know that Sika Deer are also in Estonia before i did my research. I mean they are non native but they are here, same with Fallow Deer. Moose, Red Deer and Roe Deer are native.
I like the variety of deer species, this sounds like a deer hunter's paradise honestly.
And also Estonia is one of the last countys in Europe where it is allowed to hunt Wolves
It is indeed, and grilled moose is also yummy 😋 (irl)
Aren't there some more birds that you could include on this map? I'm thinking about the Tufted Duck, Eurasian Teal, Black Grouse, and Capercaillie just for a few examples
other than that I like the existing animal list.
Well there could be White Stork and Common Crane who are native amd could be fun to see but they are not allowed to hunt (tho same is with gray seal so i guess i'll add them to the list)
Fun fact but those actually are not found in estonia. They only come like a fly-by from Finland to other countries
what about Hazel Grouse, could they fit on this map?
I'm asking because this range map seems to show that Hazel Grouse can be found in Estonia
Huh, i actually don't know about that, i have to do a bit more research on birds. The thing is that i myself hunt only mid to big game in Estonia so I didn't do much research on smallgame, but i'll be back when i'll find some info
That's okay. I was just wondering because I personally enjoy hunting the grouse species in this game, and if we can get some on more maps that would be really cool in my opinion.
Okay, so i found that black grouse isn't a part of estonian nature but hazel grouse and capercaillie is so i guess i'm adding those too
That would be great!
Yup, and yes, you are correct, Estonia is a heaven for deer hunters
Now we just need to upwote this idea for it to become real in the game and this might take months or even years (but i feel like i explained everything well, if needed i can do more research on the hunting history and even the voice of warden since i live here for already like 15-16 years)
I'm still gonna send some examples of the animals that could be new, the order is:
Gray Seal
White Stork
Common Crane
Eurasian Badger
Eurasian Beaver
This Would Be A Cool Idea, But The Bigger Thing Is What Is Stopping EW From Simply Adding Those Species To Revontuli Coast? You Can Hunt Gray Seals, Beaver, And Badger In Finland, And I Wouldn’t Be Surprised If White Stork Or Common Crane Were Hunt able In Finland.
Okay, that's also true, but now would you yourself prefer an update to an old map or a whole new map ? 😅
Would EW make a whole new reserve for them?
That's also a great point, i guess we'll see what the devs will say (if they'll say anything)
