Whitetail Antler Remodel

I think that the whitetail’s antlers are completely unrealistic I am a IRL hunter and the times need to be thicker and longer and don’t grow to the side

The overall model is super weird,it’s has a young/young adult body but legendary elderly antlers.

The smaller variations of Whitetail antlers look like tree branches almost. From the front they appear to stick out straight to the sides and have no curvature.

We need Non-typicals and droptines on diamonds. (Only the GO Whitetail can have droptines) Spikes would be neat too. Whitetail need more diamond antler variations in general.

The Mule deer have the opposite problem. The diamond antler varieties look like flat tree branches from the front. There's just something.. off about them.

I agree those deer have pencils for antlers and need more non typical, things like kickers Knurling (the beading on the antlers) and different colors of antler depending on reserve because of the different diets

Yeah the whitetail antlers are really messed up and there honestly isn’t much variety basically everything lvl2 and 3 is a 14 pt. The pre truracs looked way more realistic despite there not being much variety in them.

yes, yes and YES. I've been saying this since the truracs came out for them back in like 2019, they are extremely unrealistic and weird, same goes for roosevelt elk antlers, but the whitetail are just outrageous

this could change depending on typicality and other factors of the ways like shape and size, but I feel like this overall should be the requirements for each medal, I'm sick of 20 point bucks being barely gold and like 14 pointers being silver

for example this 8 point buck is honestly really solid looking, long tines with decent mass, this should be able to make gold in my opinion, but he scored like 60 under gold

monster bucks like these ones would be considered silver in the game due to the lack of tines, its just not realistic at all, these are trophies of a lifetime for some hunters, one of the best they'll ever get

Unfortunately a few streams ago I asked this and Jaxy told me "I think the antlers looks great. At least you have options right? I think our team has really done a great job on the AI and the TRURACS I think are in a good place. Not something tbe team should really be spending resources on." Even though I legit have the SAME piebald whitetail in my lodge 5 times. Exact same score, exact same rack, exact same pattern. How tf can the Devs not consider this immersion breaking.

I've been asking for a size difference between animals for a while. A level 1 and a level 5 bison shouldn't look the same size. This game lacks a lot on realism for the animals. Too much so in my opinion. I don't expect WOTH level models but at this point it's just getting kinda lazy to me. These suggestions can be done. Probably a lot easier then we are led to believe.

Yes WT antlers need some love. Agree 100% Esp if you're chasing the GO you see the same tiny antlers over amd over. Even the diamond racks are pretty much the exact same. Need more replayability and that'll only come from more variation

100% Luke look at that trophy on your wall. On 1 hand it's kind of cool but it's a bug with Tru racks which needs to be fixed. But I feel that blackmail were introduced to the game to just be there. They've never had any kind of update or remodel. Same with WT since their Tru rack introduction. WT are the most popular/saught after species in NA. That's why we see over amd over different posts to update them. I know the community is wanting Africa 2.0 and all the species EW has stated they don't want to add because of controversy. After that the main requests are for another NA map or 2,mule deer and Elk GOs,and WT attention and most of all NON typical antlers being added. Let's make some noise and make the team see what we really want!!

This deserves some looking into. I agree with the fact that the young bucks shouldn’t have massive antlers.

This is a 3-4 year old deer from our camp. If anything the 3’s should have antlers like this guy scoring around 160-180

Yep that's why we need to keep bumping amd or keeping the chat active. Otherwise it gets buried by all the hundreds of suggestions and an idea can easily fade. I've played the game since day one off amd on. Meaning there where so many "dark days" with the game development that lots of new dlcs like srp totally destroyed the game. But now with the new ownership the games taken a new direction amd the team actually seems to care about the people who they sell their product to amd not just "money grab" from us. I made a quick edit to one of the more tolerable whitetail racks (a silver scoring one)
Edits:

• shortened and thickened G-1 tines
• slightly lengthened G-2 tines, thickened G-2s
• slightly thickened various sections of the main beams

Also included are the original screenshots for reference

It's not perfect ofc bc of my limited photo-editing experience, but I thought it was a fun project to try :3

Also I wish the G-1s were consistently closer to the brow, I've noticed that a lot with various racks where the G-1s are closer to where the G-2s should be

I know. I think those are the legacy racks but I may be wrong. Either way I kinda liked pre truracs whitetail and black tail. Mulies benefitted from them big time and everything else has been largely the same. But how deer hunter 2005 managed to have a random antler generator that made realistic looking racks back in 04 and we can’t replicate it 20 years later idk.

I think when referencing the deer models they were taking features from summer deer and winter deer and harsh environment deer and calm environment deer and then just mashed it all together

the bucks arent too bad (the antlers are tho lol) but they need MAJOR adjustments with the bucks like bucks during the rut walk stiff with their heads down all the time and they have their ears back but also the bucks need to be beefed up a little more bc their necks are just too thin

I was actually talking about that with some of my friends of mine not too long ago! Alongside updating the antlers to look like actual whitetail antlers, spreading them out across 1-5 just makes more sense

rough idea of the antler shape and size range between the suggested levels 1-5 (not a perfect representation but I think it gets the point across still)

If they added classic antler system to cotw I'd never need another hunting game. I don't get why they don't since they already created a system that is proven to work. That's the downside of great ones though, I don't think we will ever get a true antler system

I agree. Classic's antler system + the Boone and Crockett scoring system is genuinely super cool, and over time I've felt that CotW's TruRACS system is less random than I'd like (since we have unofficial community names for different antler types, like "big rack, small rack, troll rack," etc.)

Classic's whitetail antlers honestly look way better in terms of being accurate to actual whitetail deer antlers, and I hope someday CotW's whitetail gets updated to have better antlers (i wouldn't hate the idea of keeping some the current ones as semi-rare variants though)

I was so excited hearing a couple species would get new true racks. Was convinced WT would be included. Nope. That's one of the biggest requests for so long. If it hasn't happened this time,it's not gonna happen. So disappointed. WT are 1 of the most popular big game animals in the game and on so many maps because they're so popular.
