The Expansive Worlds studio is a subsidiary of Avalanche Studios Group, therefore it has a corporate scheme where it must be resolved, report profits and produce consistent results that allow the continuity of the projects under its responsibility...
Each content developed for theHunter:Cotw game entails hours of work that must be paid to employees for an extended period of time, in the case of a map it is 6 months, during which time the studio must cover administrative and service expenses, software licenses, technical support, pay taxes and rent...

How am I supposed to pay for everything if all the content they have delivered during these 6 years had been free?

"not fair" to get paid for the time and work that goes in to development? Do you expect the developers to literately slave away (work without pay) just so you can have what you think you are entitled to for some reason? Are there any other things you think the world owes you "for free" to be "fair"? If you don't want something, or can't afford it, then don't buy it. No one is holding a gun to your head to make you buy a DLC for a video game. (And not very expensive DLCs either!) Find another hobby that you can afford. EW is, in my view, very generous as a company. They often add, for free, new content. (e.g., the Layton Lakes trophy cabin, some of the cosmetic packs, new species, hunting costumes, etc.) And to answer your question "why yall always asking money", the answer is "so they can continue to exist as a company and feed their families."

You handled that much better than I would’ve 😂

Just buy a bundle or wait till a sale. 20usd can get you at least 2 maps (with no sale going on, 3 with a sale)

#

How the monetization is now is great. You can watch YouTube videos or look at a wiki on new or old maps to see if you'd wanna get them, and if you don't want them you don't have to pay for em

# robust prairie "not fair" to get paid for the time and work that goes in to development? Do you...

so u can release a game and for 30 buck even tho u get milions in sales u still gone put every update out like a dlc so u can charge again 5 buck for ervery dlc as gear and then 10 for maps just to make thingss clear if u got every dlc u paid almost doulbe the amount for the game compared to mutch more other game that just update their game on the regular bcs that just a more fair way of doing things

They definitely don’t make millions off the base game. The hunting game market isn’t that big

wanton jackal
#

still u get my point

subtle hemlock

The games that update regularly for free are almost always games with massive player bases and demand. Also, they’re often time double and even triple the cost of cotw’s base game. And even than a large portion of games have in game purchases which fund even more

#

they can add dlc to pay for just not every single one of em just stupid whats in 10 years u gonna be paying 200 bucks to get all dlc u see where im getting there

subtle hemlock
#

Still doesn’t change the fact that EW has to pay their expenses. No income, no more cotw or future projects. If you don’t like the dlc system than just stop playing

wanton jackal
#

then whatss thiss feedback tab for bud i saying what i find of the game simple as that

And you’re telling EW to stop making money

No, I do not. You don’t understand how businesses work

No one is forcing you to buy DLC

robust prairie

That is literally what you have asked for: free stuff that costs an awful lot of money to make. People who are forced to work for free are slaves. Yes, it’s hyperbole, but also factually true.

If you want something you must pay for it,** when you buy the game you buy 2 reserves and access to all future content through multiplayer**, you pay for the service..
If you want to get them for yourself (offline content), you have to pay for them, that's how the world works.
In the store the content you buy is detailed, you do not get more than what is detailed there

Even GTA isn't free they over price stuff so you have to buy a Shark Card

I don't think they monetize the same way but I get your point

Yes they have free updates every week, but when the prices in game are so high that you either have to buy currency or live in the game grinding I just didn't see the enjoyment in it anymore.

I know that, that was my point. People that have the mentality that once they buy a game any future content should be given away for free bugs me. I've gotten into more arguments with friends that I care to count over this because they complain that a company charges for OPTIONAL DLCs.

Maybe because that’s what helps fund the game to make more stuff for the game

I think the opposite. I think they should be charging more for things and allowing us to pay for some things that they don't. For instance, I'd love if I could send them $3.99 for like $100,000 in game money when I run low because I'm not a grinder so I don't get millions of cash easily so after buying tents, treestands and ammo I'm broke and then when I need more ammo I have to use the .243 soft points until I can get something better. I also don't mind having to do that, but if I could pay to not have to I would love to have a couple extra micro-transactions, personally. We're all different, so I understand where you're coming from, but I also understand it the way they currently do it as well.
