#Te Awaroa needs tahr
1 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
they are cool, i love hunting the goat species in cotw but this one is very unique. gives me mountain goat vibes as well
Whats a tahr
Fuzzy boys!
Oh a very fluffy goat thank you for letting me know
The himalayan tahr, introduced to nz for game hunting. They live a bit higher up than chamois
Yes indeed. For the cold of the himalayas
They’re Actually Closer Related To Chamois And Musk Ox Than To Goats. Tahr Are A Member Of A Weird Family Called “Goat-Antelopes”, Despite Them Being Only Loosely Related To Goats.
Sooo there calls are gonna make me scared like always
If The Chamois Calls Scare You, Then Yes. The Tahr Female Calls Sound Like A Whistle, While Bulls Are Either Non-Vocal Or Make Grunting Noises.
They should add these that sounds fun
Do farts scare you too? Cause that's what they sound like
No😭??
Only The Bulls Sound Like That. Cows Make More If A Whistling Call.
Chamois Are Bucks And Does. Tahr Are Bulls And Cows.
I know that mate
If You Aren’t Expecting It And Hear Some Piercing Whistle It’s Probably Gonna Scare You.
You Assumed I Didn’t Know What The Genders Of Chamois Were Called And I Assumed Someone Would Be Scared Of A Random Piercing Whistle.
Go ahead and add a thumbs up to this post, will show the devs how much support there is!

Would they share habitats with chamois?
Those aren't real trophies they come from safari parks and stuff like that
I knew Google was trolling me somehow
I don't see why not they coexist with each other in real life
More Than Likely. What Id Like To See Is Either The Northern Or Southern Mountain Range Being Tahr Country And The Other One Being Chamois Country. Generally They Don’t Live Near Each Other In New Zealand, If I’m Not Mistaken.
They Do? From Most Accounts I’ve Seen Chamois And Tahr Tend To Stick To Their Own Respective Ranges.
ok I can see your username, and I take your word for it 😅
They compete with each other in the same area from what I've seen and tolerate each other. They both do better living apart
Personally I've never seen both in one area
Yeah I Think Having Tahr In The Northern Mountains And Chamois In The Southern Mountains Would Be Good. They’re Generally Not In The Same Area As Each Other, As Far As I’ve Heard, That Is.
It could be a more east to west deal,With the Chamois ranging east-south and Tahr being in the tall western mountains and valleys.
i like that idea, tahr should be on the highest mountains
Although I don’t know if you can reach the summit of Te Awaroa’s largest mountain.
Yeah you can the main character actually talks when you reach it it's hard but worthwhile @leaden axle
I've hunted Himalayan tahr and Chamois in the same area before generally there are some places where tahr and chamois don't live together but there are places like the West Coast and Canterbury where tahr and chamois tolerate each others

I'd like to see Brushtail Possums as small game to go along with this also, it would really complete the map 👌🏻
Pheasant and Rock Wallaby too!

Look at those proud distinguishing manes. 🤗
THERE IT IS, NOW THERE IS NO EXCUSE
